Anyone buy ROTK?

Has Anyone bought the Return of the King DVD Today?

Lady Pi Phi 05-25-2004 01:59 PM

I might buy it after work.

I know it's cheaper at furture shop today so I'm hoping my mum will pick it as I am no where near a future shop. If she doesn't then I'll buy my copy tomorrow.

I'm waiting til the extended version. no sense buying TWO versions if I just want to see one. I can always use netflix if I need a ROTK fix.

Gina1201 05-25-2004 02:16 PM

I bought it for my boyfriend at Best Buy. They're giving away a collector edition of Entertainment Weekly and a free pack of batteries with the DVD.

TigerLilly 05-25-2004 02:45 PM

I'm waiting for the extended edition, too.

I hope the fun thing that comes along with the ROTK extended edition is good. I liked the bookends that came with FOTR, but I didn't get the Gollum statue with TT because I didn't like it.

From someone who works in a movie store, lots of people are waiting for the extended version (which will be out in stores for this year's Holiday Season!)

Our store was open until 1 am ( ) for folks to pick it up after midnight.

OMG!!! Did you really utter those words, LOL... Really though, I like having both versions... First of all, yes, I will watch it many times before the EE comes out, so it will save me money in the long run.

LOL ;) Yup I did.

My brother will probably buy both. So I can watch either one.

My mummy surprised me with it last night!!!

You got batteries? :)

I too bought mine at Best Buy on Tuesday. It was quite humorous though, pretty much every person in that store was walking around with a copy of ROTK in their hands.

The collectors editions of Entertainment Weekly is really nice though. Glad I bought the DVD at Best Buy (even though I really didn't have the money handy, the great things about credit cards, until you get the bill. :) )

As a EW subscriber, I got the special edition in the mail-- didn't have to buy the movie (although I plan to when I have a day off work). Very cool. Notice it was on a heavier, higher quality paper?

krazy 06-02-2004 05:49 PM

LOL, I got the batteries too, and I got free popcorn!!!!!! Although I think that was a store-specific deal. This one was for my sister though (and she gave me the $$), so of course I took the free stuff and gave her the DVD...:D Great EW mag though, I did notice it was quality paper...

Intense1920 06-02-2004 06:32 PM

Yup, my bf bought it for us. So we have the regular versions of all three. When the extended version comes out we're going to get all three.

Lady Pi Phi 06-03-2004 12:41 PM

Can you buy this copy of the EW magazine in stores?

krazy 06-08-2004 12:38 PM

You probably can, although I am sure the internet would be an easier search. Did anyone see that both Arwen and Galadriel were listed as the top 2 and 3 most naturally beautiful women of all time?? Peter Jackson is kind of a stud to get those two in one trilogy. All the more reason to go get the DVDs and watch them.

Here is the BBC article:

Bump... Bump... (fans only)

Okay, if you are a fan, and plan on getting the Collector's Edition DVD, this is this year's WETA statue that is included. It looks very impressive, even better than the Gollum statue of TTT, IMO.

still not sure when the release date is though :(

Extended Edition

Does anyone know how the extended edition will differ from the theatrical release?

eta: I just found out some of what will be in the EE here (has spoilers):
