Best and Worst Final TV Epsiodes

My favorite final TV show epsiode was Star Trek Voyager. Other great ones were Homicide: Life On the Streets (I got the spelling right!), Mad About You, and Babylon 5.

Some that really disapointed me were Seinfeld and MASH.

Star Trek Voyager's final epsiode was absolutely amazing. It was a 2 hour epsiode that really needed to be that long, and it was better than most SciFi movies. The last 20 minutes were breath taking.

Seinfeld's final was such a let down. This may have been the best sit-com ever, and they just fumbled their final. It spent way too much time building up to the courtroom scene, and the courtroom scene could have been longer.

The Best finale:

Frasier
Cheers
Cosby Show
M.A.S.H.

the Worst:

I have to admit, the final episode of Roseanne was a good one since Dan died and Roseanne was reminiscing about the good times with her family.

I remember the Cosby Show finale. While it wasn't sad or depressing, that final moment when Cliff and Clair danced their way out of the set was simple and classy. A perfect ending for a perfect couple.

Newhart's final scene with Suzanne Pleshette made me go "WHOA!".

Dawson's Creek. I don't need to get into it. I cried through the whole thing once Jen's heart condition was discovered.

My most favorite final episode belongs to 90210. Though it was predictable (how could you really end the show with David and Donna NOT getting married?), one couldn't help but feel a sense of completion when the show ended. I don't know, maybe it was because I was in that stage in my life. I still watch the tape every now and then and get misty eyed as David and Donna are reciting their vows.

As far as the worst goes, definitely Seinfeld. The retrospect they showed prior to the Finale was better than the actual Finale itself.

I can't think of any other really bad ones.

Fresh Prince was pretty good, tied everything up nicely

Saved By The Bell was expected, but good.

Newhart: Best Ever

Frasier was WAY underrated compared to the hype that Friends got...

I feel about the finale of Seinfeld the same way most people that have already posted do.

I agree that the Newhart finale was the best ever. I still think that show is way funny.

Me too! I have the last episode on tape and still get emotional when I watch it. The part that always gets me is the part where Jen is leaving a message for her baby on film. :( Plus, it ended with Pacey and Joey, so it was perfect.

Worst ever: Seinfeld!!!

Ones I liked:

90210: Like OTW said, it all had to end with Donna and David getting married.

Mad About You: I know that it takes place in the future, but hey, it's good to know how everyone turned out.

Who's The Boss?: Loved the final scene........:p Tony and Angela FOREVER :)

Ones I didn't like:

Full House, Growing Pains, Fresh Prince et al: Moving away...nice way to end things-LOL

Felicity: I liked the show a lot, but it could have done without the final four episodes.

I too loved this finale. I loved how you really thought Dan was around the entire season only to learn that he in fact died. It was a very touching episode.

OMG, I loved this finale. Yes, it was predictable, but what better way to end the series than to have David and Donna get married.

My other favorites

I also truly enjoyed the Voyager Series Finale. It left you hanging, not truly knowing what Janeway chose until the last second. I also thought the whole Seven of Nine and Chakotay relationship was beautifully done and well written.

I was extremely happy with the Buffy series finale. Yeah, I wish that UPN had granted Buffy a two hour time slot, but for the one hour they managed to do the show justice and give it the ending it deserved (although I was extremely upset over the ending :) ).

Finales I hated!!

I was disappointed with the Angel series finale. I think Joss (Whedon) did the episode in spite of WB for just up and cancelling the show. The ending sucked and it made you think that it was a cliffhanger and not a series finale.

I was also disappointed with the Star Trek: TNG ending. I thought the whole thing of Picard jumping through time and being the cause of a spacial distortion was kind of lame and didn't do justice to the show. At least the movies were better. LOL.

i used to watch dawson's creek and didn't watch it for a long time. i did watch the finale with some friends and it was the saddest thing ever!!! i swear we cried almost the whole time. i was sobbing at a lot of parts :(

i did like the finale of friends because it had ross and rachel together. kinda like the 90210 one where donna and david had to be together.

That's also one of the reasons why I loved that finale. I stopped watching it for a few seasons, but when the finale came on it was as if I never stopped. It wasn't too hard to be caught up on the Pacey/Joey/Dawson triangle and follow everything else that went on.

My favorite final episode is Good Times -- they got out of the projects!

KSigkid 05-25-2004 09:32 AM

Newhart was excellent, no contest the best.

Seinfeld was awful in every way...not sure what they were thinking with that idea.

Lady Pi Phi 05-25-2004 09:39 AM

Finales I Liked:

Star Trek: Voyager

Star Trek: TNG

Dawson's Creek: I too hadn't watched the show in a long time, but I cried through the whole episode.

Friends: Except for Ross and Rachel getting together (They were on a break! :D )

Cheers

Finales I Didn' Like:

Seinfeld

other finales just weren't that memorable. I have no opinion of them.

Lil' Hannah 05-25-2004 09:54 AM

I actually kinda liked Seinfeld. It was stupid and it wasn't what anyone was expected, and that was the beauty of it.

WORD!!! They "moved on up" at the end. :D :D

I agree with OTW and the Cosby Show ending. Very classy. Plus the fact that he finally got the door bell to work properly - that was a nice segue.

efcheerBB 05-25-2004 06:47 PM

OMG-I have to agree with several of you. The Dawson's Creek finale was one that the Kleenex Company probably enjoyed and benefitted from. I cried throughout most of the episode especially when Jen was taping the video for her daughter. I think that the ending was great. Joey and Pacey together at last. They were so cute.

I also liked the way that Buffy ended. I loved that show and thought that Buffy and the rest of the Scooby Gang saving the world with the help of Spike sacrificing himself was perfect.

I didn't want Seinfeld all that often, but I just didn't like the finale. It was boring to me.

I too thought the ending was perfect (as I said earlier). Although, I literally cried for two hours (hides head in shame) after it ended. I was SO MAD that Spike was killed. LOL.

honeychile 05-25-2004 08:14 PM

Wow, y'all are mentioning finales I hadn't even considered!

I loved the finale of Beverly Hills 90210 - it would have been better with Brandon & Brenda, but such is life. I liked the 10th year Reunion Special, but I think that it would have been even more interesting if it had been done like a real class reunion.

Roseanne's was good - in watching the reruns, it's a much better show than when she was pulling her off stage antics.

Friends was predictable, tame, but okay. I kinda wanted Rachel to physically hurt Ross for being such a wuss all these years. And I think they made Joey a little too dumb, in preparation for his spin off.

And Newhart? That was brilliant!!

33girl 05-25-2004 09:19 PM

The best finale I've ever seen was Cheers. There were some ends tied up, but not everything. It was nice to think that even though we weren't watching, the bar would still be going on. I liked it.

MASH was OK but could have done without the Hawkeye goes crazy angle. I cried for like half an hour afterward.

Wonder Years - I don't want subtlety. I don't want fuzziness. I want you to come out and say it. KEVIN NAILED WINNIE.

Melrose Place, Roseanne, Felicity - by the time these got to the end I was like "thank you, God." Not a good way to feel about shows you used to like. I can't rewatch Felicity or MP without thinking about how much they sucked by the end and that kind of stinks.

And to echo everyone else - Seinfeld, yuck, ick, terrible. Frank Sinatra died the day before preventing Jerry from getting raked over the coals as much as he should have at the time for this mess.
