Who has their hair dyed?
I'm thinking about getting my hair dyed. I don't know what color yet, but I do know that I want to get highlights. What about y'all?
|
i would never dye all of my hair,I'm happy as a brunette, but I do have beautiful blond streaks/highlights in my hair that sheer blonde products make look as awesome as they did when I left the salon.
|
That sounds really pretty, Mary! Is your hair dark brunette? Mine is and I'm thinking of some blonde (really fakey looking) highlights for the summer.
|
I have a dark red...it's really cool and every expensive place i've gotten my hair at has people that ask if it's real. Anyway, I've done streaks and I've gone totally blonde too. I'm thinking of going darker and getting brown soon.

I have done everything to my hair. Highlights, at home full dye job. Just a few months ago, a year after going back to my natual brown hair, I got nice honey colored low-lights. Supposedly they are less harsh color & chemical wise for the hair.
|
I have naturally dark dark brown hair and I never ever colored it until I finally gave in last summer and got some blonde highlights put in. I absolutely loved them and now almost a year later I have just gotten more and more put in. I didn't think I'd ever look right with having a ton of blonde in my hair since I am dark complected and all that but I get soooooo many compliments on my hair and it's probably my favorite part of me. :D Start out with just a few highlights, it's so much easier to add more on than it is to take out highlights. (Trust me this happened to me over spring break. :( ) Let us know how they turn out!

Has anyone ever added a little bit of color or highlights to their bush? DeltaSigStan wants to know.

A blond doing cartwheels.... |
i dyed my hair when i was like 13- and since i just had highlights and died it blonder and blonder- but i have a fairly olive complexion (sp?) i died it darker brown last fall- and waited for my real color to grow in- its pretty dark- but its a little mousy brown- i think i should either go darker- or put highlights in... (but i'm too cheap to do it in a salon right now) argh... (now its at that weird grow out stage- half of it is natural- the other half is dyed- i hate it! )
|
I had honey brown highlights from 13 to 18.
I had medium to dark brown hair from 18 to 19. I went back to my natural hair color at 20, which is dark brown to black, but I'm growing reddish brown highlights in my bangs...weird... ETA: FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS USE SUN-IN!!! It was responsible for those honey brown highlights, but it made the texture very rough. |
ive had my hair black, and blond but currently its natural brunette. Im probably dying it black again when I go back to school in a week

I grew up with "dirty blonde" hair...but now have been dying it with L'Oreal Feria....it is now auburn and I love it!! It is so simple too (and cheap)....I just buy the kit and dye it all with one step!!
|
I have colored my hair a reddish brown color by a professional since I was 25. My natural hair color is dark brown and the color is hard to see without light. The solution was to highlight several streaks before applying the full color and it works.
ETA: I tried going blonde when I was 13 with blonde streaks. Unfortunately, they looked brassy on me and my beautician was afraid I would ruin her reputation. When I was 14 or 15, I got auburn streaks and I receive a lot of compliments (and made a beautician happy) |
Let's see... in 7th grade I experimented with Sun-In and lemon juice. I have really dark poopy brown hair. Yeah for the orange. Ever since then I've dyed it and highlighted. I had lots of blonde highlights in it, and I got bored so I had my cousin (my stylist) throw in BRIGHT red and blonde and it looked absolutely awesome. Now I can't afford highlights next month, so it looks liek a bottle of Chocolate Cherry by Feria will be my next color. I haven't been all dark in so long!
|
My hair is dyed "oriental black/blue black". Its by Bigen and although it is permanent color, it is VERY gentle. I like this color on my because it brings out the honey color of my eyes really well.
My hair is naturally brown. |

my hair is naturally dark brown. i never dyed it until i was about to start college in 2001. my hairdresser was competing in a hair makeover contest and i was one of his models. he did an awesome job with highlights and cut. (plus it was free!!!) http://www.nathanlstylist.com/portfolio.html (i'm the first one. can you tell the drastic difference)
after that i kept getting highlights and root retouching. but my hair kept getting blonder and blonder and it started to look brassy. so i did a home dye (cause i was broke. lol) to a semi dark loreal hair color. and i've been doing that for a few months. i tried dying it black, but it didn't look good on me :( i wanted to go back to brown two weeks later and tried that stuff that supposedly removes permanent color when it just bleaches it (i had brown spots, orange spots and blonde spots throughout my hair from it). it turned out ok cause i dyed it a dark brown. but the color is fading and i'm thinking about going to a salon and getting highlights again. i don't want them so bright and so thick cause i HATE HATE HATE when my roots start showing! |
The story of my hair:
My hair has not been its natural color since I was in 6th grade. While growing up, I had blonde hair. Then when I was in 7th grade, I dyed it red (with a turquoise streak  ). When the roots grew back, the hair was much darker and I really hated it, so I started going blonde at home. All through high school, I had the blonde single process- not always the same color, but still the same honey blondish tone. Over time though, my roots had become SO dark. Then, when I was going through recruitment, I decided on a whim to go dark because I was sick of the upkeep (this was when Gwyneth, Cameron Diaz, Mandy Moore all went dark). My hair was a dark chocolate brown (also at home). I liked it, but it just didn't suit me as well as the blonde. I was so washed out! So right before summer school started, I decided to let my friend take me back to blonde with a Feria kit. Even though she had never dyed anyone's hair before, I knew that my mom had done it for YEARS without any beautician skills, so how hard could it be? WRONG. My hair turned a horrendous orangey brown color- it looked awful! I knew I could not go to school looking like this, so I went to a local salon to have corrective color. My stylist there took me to a medium brown with honey highlights, which I really liked, for the summer. But before school started in the fall, I decided to go back to blonde. I went back to that same stylist, and I have never gone back. I now have blonde highlights and lowlights all over. It's a very pretty color. It makes me sick to my stomach to pay so much money to get my hair done, but the results are wonderful. I'm so afraid to have my hair colored at home now after my traumatic incident. I'm also afraid to see what my natural hair color would look like on me. |
I used to be one of those purists: No coloring the hair, no tanning beds, no piercings. Riiiiiiight. I was born a redhead, quickly became a blondie (around 3 or 4) then gradually my hair got darker, with nice golden natural highlights. I've dyed it auburn on a few occasions and espresso brown once. I like my hair darker but I don't like the hassle of coloring it.
|
I have brown hair w/ blonde highlights and carmel lowlights. I love it! I've been getting my hair highlighted for about 4 years now.
Lately I've been thinking about going less dramatic w/ the blonde highlights, or even just ditching the highlights altogether. It's just so expensive to maintain, and eventually I'm going to have to ALWAYS dye my hair to cover up that gray, so I might enjoy my natural color for a little bit while I still can. |
My hair is naturally a light brown/honey colored. I've been adding blonde streaks to it since my freshman year.
I'm going to also co-sign the whole "No Sun-In" thing. I guess the chemical never really completely washes out of your hair and it will cause your hair to lighten everytime you go out in the sun. My roommate my freshman year used it (she had medium brown) hair and her hair turned orange after spending too much time in the sun. If you want highlights, spend the extra money and get it professionally done. |
I have never dyed my hair, nor do I ever plan on it! I'm terrified that what I do to it won't turn out right & I'll have to wait on it grow out or take my chances & try another color!
My mother has her license to do hair but she really only does her own-if she tried to come @ my hair w/ color I'd run for the hills! |
i don't do the at home box thing i rather go to a salon and have it done. I get the foil treatment. Me and Redken have a very close relationship. It helps when your mother still keeps her cosmotology lic after 25 yrs and can buy direct hair products for me to Redken and all other top names products.
my natural hair color is lt. brownish blonde and i get bleach, lt. blonde and moccroan brown hi-lights though out |
My hair is naturally borwn with some very bubtle blond and red hilights.
I've been dying my hair since I was 14. I want to get back to my original colour, but I doubt that will ever happen. Currenlt my hair is dyed a brownish red colour |
I haven't seen completely natural hair color since my sophomore year of college. I do it at home...however much to my dismay my Colorstay has been discontinued and I've been forced back into the market to find something comparable. I discovered last night that Nice & Easy Dark Caramel Brown is NOT it. I look like f@#$ing Morticia right now. Grrr. I may have to hop on the Prell train to get this out of my hair sooner.
|
I want to get highlights, but my mom thinks hates the idea. Since I live at home, there's nothing I can do about it.
|
I used to dye my hair coppery-red (it's naturally light brown with blonder highlights). I did it myself with the boxed stuff but quit because I was frying my hair. Yesterday I found an old picture of me with dyed hair and I decided I really miss that color. Might start dyeing it again.
|
My hair is naturally reddish brown, moreso in the summer, but I started with the dye in 8th, and have been going strong since. For some reason, when mine grows out, it looks like I purposely streaked it (seriously, I get compliments on the color). I'm anywhere from auburn to copper and I love it.
OH, I had gotten this Aussie conditioner from Drug Emporium YEARS ago before they went out of business. It was made for people with red hair, and it enhanced the red in between dyes (the actual conditioner was red, it had some dye in it). I LOVED it, people always thought I re-dyed my hair every week, it made it VERY vibrant, but I can't find it anymore :(  But for you, try something semi-permanent or a rinse first to make sure you like it! |
My back hair is dyed orange because I worry about hunters when I'm at the beach.
|
been every color i could be ('cept pink, blue, purple, etc)......my hair naturally is brown-ish.....this time last year it was red...good for a change, but not long term (i like to wear girlie colors too much :) ), it was blonde in hs for a while...i highlighted it so much it just became bleach blonde 100%....whoa ......then i did an auburn color, which, really, is fabulous! but now my hair is black, been that way for about a year. i dig it. :) i have really pale eyes and skin, though, so i have to watch out for the corpse look....overall it works, though. :D betty boop, snow white, and betty rubble are my idols. ;)
|
My hair is naturally medium brown, but I have white blond highlights...think Kelly Clarkson, but not as skunk-like.
|
well i am currently growing out about 4 years of dying my hair myself. My roots are about halfway down my head. My ends look like they are about 5 different colors. i was told to stop dying my hair because my hair was thinning. But I also heard rumors that hair loss can come from being a diabetic. Whatever the case, my hair has gotten really thin so I am trying not to dye it again. I have been everything to super dark brown to bright auburn. Dark auburns tend to make my hair purple. And I have been doing those Loreal dye and highlight kits. Expensive, but they work well.
If you are gonna dye, do it professionally. I have been dying out of a box for years and I always tend to screw up something. |
L'Oreal Light Reddish Blonde is my friend....
Cause I don't want to be mousey brown and gray.;) |
At 44 I can say I am one of those "purists".
I have never dyed my hair and never had to - never wanted to:). My close friend of almost 30 years says she hates my hair cause I have the natural "Breck Girl" look :) (those of us old enough to remember the look). I have waist length hair that is a dark blonde :) and not a speck/hint/strand of gray :). My grandmother died at 72 and she was still a natural blonde :) with no gray. I have 3 sisters who all dye their hair to hide LOTS of gray (other side of the family :) heheheh) |
