Why did you choose your screen name?

For my fellow floaters of GC, you have probably seen this in the Chit-Chat forum. I think it will be a good NEW topic for our board. Lets see...

My new name is simple: My beloved sorority AKA and it is just 4 MJ, my initials...

My old name: OOHLALA is the name of the dance squad for Howard's Band and when I was @ HU I was a part of it. Not to mention that when the fellas see me they say " Ooooh LA LA!" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

affinity8 05-16-2001 04:45 PM

Affinity means kinship, a closeness. I just like the word, always have. And number 8 is my favorit number. If you turn it sideways, it is the symbol for infinity.

I remember your other screen name. I used to go to Howard (smile) I thought you girls were da bomb!!! 8-)

sphinxpoet1 05-16-2001 04:47 PM

I chose Sphinxpoet because upon my journey into the land of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity INNNNNCORPORATED! I was the best at poetry, I knew my history in and out and I am also a writer of poetry. So it acknowleged my enterance into Alpha Phi Alpha and my love of writing Poetry.

"If you listen you can hear the people chanting the Sphinxpoet's Name......"

IF YA SMELL WHAT THE SPHINXPOET IS COOKING

REALLY, WHEN??

affinity8 05-16-2001 04:54 PM

I was there 93-97

Steeltrap 05-16-2001 04:56 PM

My best friend of 18 years often said I had a "steel trap" mind when we would reminisce about college or the newspaper we worked on because I remembered the most minute details about things.
So I thought it would work.

I would have taken this to email but you do not have one listed...

So, you were there during our peak year of 95-96 that is when we were the BEST, 96-97 was good too, but it is just not the same since they are not OFFICIAL Ooh La La! dancers.

AKAtude 05-16-2001 05:02 PM

"AKA"tude...Need I say more? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

112Soul 05-16-2001 05:04 PM

My name 112Soul has two meanings:

112 is R&B group I respect because they write their own material (which is very important to me as a writer). Also, each of the members are talented and I saw that as a representation of my many talents.

'da Soul is where I write from. That's probably why you won't hear about me blowing up because I refuse to write on things for money. Also, it is a hope that when people see me (fraternity members or otherwise), they see what is in my soul and not what they want to see.

toocute 05-16-2001 05:31 PM

When hubby and I were on our honeymoon we were in San Franciso for a few days. We went to Alcatraz and they had a gift shop with tee shirts that said Alcatraz Penitentiary and stamped across them was REJECTED...TOO CUTE meaning the wearer of the shirt was too cute to be in Alcatraz.

He said that's YOU!!! You are Too Cute and you think you're Too Cute. (Actually, I know I'm too cute) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif So the name stuck and it's my AOL screen...TooCute365 (TooCute All Year) TooCute247 was taken. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Chi_ZETABBW 05-16-2001 05:39 PM

All I could think of at the time, but it describes me to a certain degree.
CHI- because I live in Chicago
Zeta- One of the FINER Women of Zeta Phi Beta
BBW- Also a big BLUtiful woman.

jali0004 05-16-2001 06:09 PM

Wow..you guys are really creative! I'm kinda embarassed to share mine now!! I chose jali0004, because it's my user ID at school. I use it as my screen name, because as a freshman, I didn't want to spend a lot of time registering for websites I like. I still use it, because I'll forget anything else... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

"Jali" is the first four letters of my last name, and "0004" means that I'm the fourth person to have registered since 1970-something with this prefix.

kiml122 05-16-2001 06:18 PM

Mine is pretty simple, but I like it.
Kim = my first name
L = my first initial of my last name
122 = my b-day which is 1-22.

I have been going by KimL for so long, it seemed just right to use now, and I love my b-day, ane 22 is also my favorite number and is my former jersey# when I played b-ball.

I chose mine because I thought it was pretty and there's nothing more rare and precious than me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Ideal08 05-16-2001 09:04 PM

I chose Ideal because that was my line name. Y'all know why I chose 08! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

showstopper_1908 05-16-2001 09:06 PM

Showstopper-
I act (yes sometimes like a fool but I mean as in Theatre). Most actresses have a need for attention (as do I) and everything must stop until we get it. A showstopper is a performance that receives so much applauds that the show is temporality halted, This happens in all I do. ;-)
1908-
If you don't know, you better ask...anybody!

Ania 05-16-2001 09:20 PM

I chose Ania because I'm lazy.

lilbittyprettyone 05-16-2001 09:21 PM

I chose mine because I think it suits me perfectly. I am barely five feet. And also, it's in one of my favorite songs by Frankie Lymon (the he's singing right before he passes out on stage in the movie "Why Do Fools Fall in Love")

Ideal08 05-16-2001 09:22 PM

MSPIGGY1908 05-16-2001 09:57 PM

Skeeeeeeee-weeeeeee Sorors. I am new to the forum. Also known as Preciousone. Kappa Tau Sp91. I chose my username for greekchat because #1 Preciousone was already taken and
#2 my late Godmother called me Ms. Piggy. I'm sure you all know where the 1908 comes in.

tickledpink 05-16-2001 10:18 PM

MIne's pretty self explanatory too. I thought about pretty n pink, but, Tickled Pink best describes how glad I am that I am a member of the first and finest.

SkeeeeeeeWeeeeeee to all of my new GC Sorors!

NYMinute 05-16-2001 10:35 PM

I use NY Minute for two reasons:
1) I am a native New Yorker (Da Boogie Down!)
2) Because people always tell me I am very quick-witted, and quick mouthed http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif and there is a saying that says faster than a NY Minute.

pretty3grl 05-16-2001 10:57 PM

I use pretty3grl because I am one of the pretty girls who wear 20 pearls http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
and 3 was my line number (trey club!!).

Shalom: Shalom means "hello", "goodbye" and most importantly, it means "peace".
2=to
U=you

My username also represents who I am...a Peaceful Black-Jewish Woman Minister. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Shalom~

Poplife 05-17-2001 03:57 AM

It's a Prince song. I like it because many lines have personal meaning for me.

For all who are un-Princed:

Poplife

What's the matter with your life?
Is the poverty bringing U down?
Is the mailman jerking U 'round?
Did he put your million dollar check in someone else's box?
Tell me

Mm, what's the matter with your world?
Was it a boy when U wanted a girl?
Don't U know straight hair ain't got no curl
Life - it ain't real funky unless it's got that pop

Tell me, what's that underneath your hair?
Is there anybody living there?
Can't get over if U say U just don't care Show me a boy who stays in school
And I'll show U a boy aware

What cha puttin' in your nose?
Is that where all your money goes?
The river of addiction flows
U think it's hot, but there won't be no water when the fire blows

Pop life - Everybody needs a thrill
Pop life - We all got a space 2 fill
Pop life - Everybody wants 2 be on top
Life - it ain't real funky unless it's got that pop

Ideal08 05-17-2001 08:50 AM

Soror MSPIGGY_1908, Welcome to our home here on GC!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Skeeeeeeeeee-Weeeeeeee!!

buterscotch1 05-17-2001 08:55 AM

When I was a baby I was so "yellow" my family called me "Butter", as I grew older I wanted something a little sassier, hence buterscotch. I dropped the other "T" because the correct spelling was already taken and the "1", I was the first to sign in with this spelling http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

1 Woman of Virtue 05-17-2001 09:34 AM

The screen names I use on other boards (Seeker, LiberatedQueen) were taken. I picked this name after re-reading Prov 31. This name describes what I want to be (I ain't made it yet!)--1 woman of virtue.

AKA4MJ-I must be daft, but did you use OOOHLALA on the sisterly forum too?

Convinced 05-17-2001 09:44 AM

Well, you all know that they say we are conceited, and I always reply, "no, I'm just convinced."

Professor 05-17-2001 09:52 AM

damn - damn - damn - that's a good one - i wanna yell - great answer -

Professor 05-17-2001 10:03 AM

My uncle would always say that's a smart boy and at some point he started calling me Professor. Now I've come full circle - Professor is my line name and I am a former educator!

Probably, I know I also have used NRGRZRBUNY (the one everyone gets a kick out of), BUNNY773, and ROCKETTEVII. Now come to think of it, NO, I have only used OOHLALA on this forum!

Miss. Mocha 05-17-2001 10:41 AM

On an episode of "A Different World" a chick called Freddie "Miss. Mocha" because she was mixed.

I'm half Black/half Puerto Rican, I thought it was a match.

Happydaysf91 05-17-2001 10:43 AM

Happydays -- Line name
Pledged Fall 1991 -- Beta OOOOOOpsilon!

THICKNCHOCLATE 05-17-2001 10:53 AM
