Why did Kanye West depledge?
 

During my daily check at Hip Hop News I see:


What’s good about Kanye West? Now, this is a rumor, but we have been privy to hear that Mr. West has some bitterness toward college for different reasons other than the menial pay for a new graduate. We hear that he tried to pledge a certain frat and didn’t make it through the “rigorous” pledge process (aka a Black man rite of passage) and has had a certain, pointed anger toward Black “Greeks.” We also heard that Mr. West made a bad error on stage in Seattle. Last month, he had allegedly left a tour date in St. Louis the day before and then went to Seattle the next and said, “What’s up Detroit (or another wrong city)!?!” According to this rumor, the crowd proceeded to boo him and he replied “Why are you booing me? I’m Kanye West. I brought hip-hop back!” Anybody in Seattle can feel free to confirm or dispel this rumor. And Frat boys we def wanna know what Frat he tried to get in IF he actually did – HOLLA BACK, like AJ says! (Can somebody make an AJ Soundboard? PLEASE?)

Well as BGLOs don't have a formal "depledging" he was never a member of any "house." I can't see how he has bitterness towards Black Greeks as he is reportedly dating one ("my girl's a Delta so she been throwing up the Dynasty sign" from his through the wire song) and has a few songs dedicated to BGLO life.

But how can you say this about an artist who you have no clue who he is? :confused:

1) His CD is hot Tom. He will not just be some one album wonder or just get 15 minutes.

2) Get shot in ganster fueds? You know, I've tried to give you a chance...but now your ignorance shines thorugh once again. If you don't actually listen to the lyrics and/or disregard the cussing, then you're in no postion to ASSume such things.

Maybe you and Bill O'Reilly should talk......

If you watch MTV after 11pm, you'll see him about 47 times. I've come to the conclusion that MTV only has 12 videos that they play over and over.

No, not really. They just usually don't play music until then! They have so many shows that they wait until later to play actual videos. He might be on the TRL show, which is earlier in the evening, but I haven't watched that.

True... They have to have all of their reality shows play before they can show any music television... (I'm only half bitter, because I watch those damn reality shows... hehe---but why has MTV2 started skimping on showing the videos, and have gone in the direction of VH1?)

....But you forget it's not just reality TV...They have dedicated a whole night (Sunday) to nothing but immature men getting their buttcheeks pierced and the like. If you don't know what I mean I am talking about "Viva la BAM and WildBoyz" which are both spin off's of that genius show called Jackass. Can you imagine?? I love Bam Margera just like the next and skateboarders keep my husband in business but how do they keep from killing themselves??

actually, does it even matter which org he was rejected from in college? that just makes him another bitter hater on greek life. dont give him this attention b/c hes a celebrity who's a bitter hater on greek life. bottom line is, he didnt make line--at that point, he was kanye west, prospective member, not mr. "i brought hip-hop back"

sidenote: man please! i love kanye and all, but dont get hype. on top one minute, next minute doing straight-to-video movies and bad commercials.

and does he really date a delta? if anything, he knows how to pick his women!

How can you say he's a "bitter hater on Greek Life" if you've listened to his CD? He talks a lot of junk about COLLEGE in general, but I think all of his Greek references are fairly positive.

Anyway. He makes more references to Kappa, so that would be my guess. But does it really matter? With Alexandra Robbins and MTV's Sorority/Fraternity Life, I don't think Greeks are getting a bad rep from Kanye.

The 6 months I was able to have him on block were effing amazing.
