anyone watching? |
I'm watching.
Poor Monique, you'd think they would straighten out the confusion with the teleprompter before the show. And I'm gonna need all the yelling heffas in the audience to calm down. Its just rude...hows about some home training? Outcast said sh*t on TV...awwwwww! :D Kid Rock completely screwed up 99 Problems for Jay-Z! Yolanda Adams is beautiful inside and out. She's a survivor. Judge Mathis was rapping, LOL. Was that Curtis Blow? Isn't he about 70 by now? Dang, Mekhi might as well swallow that mike, its all up in his mouth. So far I'm enjoying the show. Even though its uberghetto. More commentary later... |

I enjoyed the awards show. I LOVED the ol' school hip hop performances, especially when Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh came on.
WHYYYYY did Melly Mel look like he was just released from prison? :( I know an institutionalized man when I see one. Looks as if he lifted a few too many weights while he was in sing-sing  |
i want jackie reed to pop out of a cake for my birthday.
:D that woman is well-en.....blessed. |
I LOVED the show!! It was a jam!! I am excited about seeing Kanye in concert now. I can't wait until he comes down here. I want my tickets now. Mo'Nique DID THAT!! That "Crazy in Love" had me ROLLING!!
The writers and teleprompter operators screwed up all night. That Raven/Tracee Ellis Ross scene was kind of touchy. I took it as a joke, but obviuosly the audience didn't see the humor. The audience was also shocked by the "I'm Rick James B****!!" comment. Why? Dave Chappelle has been carrying this on for the longest. I knew that it was coming. Rick was high as kite and when he stepped to the mike, I KNEW that's what he was going to say. The audience should have known. The old school tribute was GREAT!! If Slick Rick and Doug E. ever come to New Orleans or if I am ever in NY and they have a show, I AM THERE! Melly Mel was tripping. Broke down LL Cool J wannabe... Mo'Nique blowing on Ying Yang was funny as hell!!! I am tired of Vivica Fox  I want Jay-Z and Beyonce to STOP FRONTING and just come on with it. When Ron Isley put them on blast, I was cracking up! Speaking of Ron Isley, Rudolph came out there with that church lady/Little Richard "WOOOOO!" and went crazy. I wanted to scream!! The "afterparty" with Jackie Reed was ONE. HOT. MESS. I'll save more commentary for later. I have to go to class. |

Anyway, Monique looked cute in all her 'little' outfits. I think she is so pretty. When she got out there doin her thang with those other girls, I was like "go, girl!" Did ya see the suga hill gang? Does the lead guy have hair plugs or something, or is that just his 'good hair?' I thought the show overall was alright, but some of the parts were a little ghetto, especially when they jacked mo'nique up on the teleprompter. I was embarrassed for her. :( Hey, wait a minute!!! Was it just my ears, or did I hear that Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker were engaged?!! I think that's what L.L. Cool J was saying. Oh! I'm jealous (but happy :) ) |

Highlights: Kanye and Yolanda Isley Brothers Danny Glover Monique doing the Crazy in Love dance Monique getting in the Ying Yang twins's azzes. LOL when she said, "Spell it". Alicia Keys India Irie and her tribute to Ray Charles Hip-Hop tribute - I was jamming for real!!!! :D :D RD - Rick James was talking about some woman backstage who may have said something to him in a disrespectful manner. He just decided to blow up on her in public. |
Re: Boris and Nicole, that is them in the photo sent by Epitome1920, right? She looks really different and Boris looks a lot darker. I wasn't sure but if that was them but if they are engaged then that's them and she has an engagement ring on her finger.
I didn't watch. I was too busy trying to get to Hollywood for the afterparty that was filled to capacity..I had to take my Black, non-high profile arse home and missed the whole thing. LA is a circus and looks like Freaknic up in this biaaa! I heard it was a great show. When are the reruns? |
Was it humid in the building because a few of the ladies' hairdos seemed jacked up especially Brandy and Beyonce. Beyonce's hair looked like she was trying to pin it up but ran out of pins. The hip hop tribute was on! It just seemed too short. I wish MC Lyte would have done more. Monique looked good doing her Crazy in Love. Did you catch Kanye dancing? I was too tickled.

DeltaBrat,
Check BET over the weekend. I'm sure they will show the repeat of the show at least twice. :D |

Okay, Solange disappeared shortly after the beginning of the show.
I loved MoNique's intro! :D Be & Jay need to quit. Could they have been sitting any closer, but yet so far apart? RICK JAMES.....why did he appear to be a bit "lighter skinned." The gross part was his chest had the nerve to be "lighter skinned" also. So disrespectful. Alicia Keys...I'm not a fan, but she did well. India Arie sounded beautiful as usual. 50 Cent was kind of quiet....hm, Vivica must have had that fool spooked. Brandy....whatever Okay...here's some folks who were MIA (correct me if I'm wrong) P Diddy Ced the Entertainer Nelly R Kelly Raven & Tracey Ellis Ross....Boooooooo-wack Melly Mel (mel mell, whoever) was too swole. He looked like Damon from Friday After Next. Was it me or was him and his crew a little off the chain in the Jackie Reid Afterparty tent? I did enjoy the Hip Hop Tribute. Last year's show was better. |
I will have to catch the rerun because I only caught bits and pieces of it. I miss the intro that everyone keeps talking about.
I saw India.Arie's performance on the aftershow and I thought she looked beautiful with her hair like that. Usher's performance was terrible. I'm going to need him to lipsync at his concerts. I would have been mad if I paid to go see that crap. Brandy looked terrible. It looked like she had on that seaweed she be eating. Her hair was terrible too. |

I just tuned out the ghettoness of the BET awards.
The best part of the show was HIP HOP ON WAX. It was good to see the Sugar Hill Gang again. Those guys still got it after all those years. Monique and the Bigger is Better girls Those girls can dance. Rick James and Teena Marie I like the song Fire and Desire. They should have done that song on stage. Ludacris and the mermaids WTF Ludacris' female side kick Did anyone catch the words on the back of her jacket? WATCH THE WEIGHT. Did she lose a lot of weight? Beyonce's hair Love the hair. India Arie She shine in the spotlight. Janet Jackson's intro Love by so many in one minute, then scorned the next. You tell them Janet. That's my report. |
Usher sounded terrible. I know you can dance, sweetie, I wanna hear you sing, okay?
Why did Luda say that was his first award? You would think he woulda had something by now. I wanted for that Ying Yang twin to just shut up cuz Monique was cutting him up!! Best believe I was CTFU though!! I didn't catch the show from the beginning, so I'll have more comments after I catch the rerun. Maybe. |
First off, let me just say WOW @ the ghetto-fab factor...Anyway,
I enjoyed: *Monique as the host: I'm not a huge fan of hers or anything but girlfriend was working it in the outfits (most of them were very pretty), and w/ her cute hair style & color. I like how she was telling the Intro/ Crazy in Love Rendition: HI-LARIOUS *Kanye's Performace w/ Miss Yolanda go on ahead ans shake 'em off!) :D *Alicia Keys: good, as usual :) *The Isley Borthers' Performance *India.Arie's Tribute to Ray Charles: Just Beautiful! *The 25th Aniversary of Hip-Hop Performances: TIGHT! Sugar Hill Gang was on point (who still has it, btw--I'm a younging but my Momma raised me right ;)), and I was LOVING Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick, and also P. E. (their performance could've been a bit longer, IMO). My WTF?! and/or LMAO Moments *Jay-Z: Why didn't Kid Rock know his lyrics  *Outcast: I wasn't really feeling their performance *Ronald Isley busting out Beyonce and Jay (they looked like deer caught in the headlights) *Rick James...Dayum :o I mean first of all the cameras practically went to him & Tina w/out any kind of intro...I looked up and there they were (unless I missed something  )...Anyway, WHY OH WHY did h!e have to act a fool? It's that girl's fault though (she should've known who he was). *Usher: I'm a fan and all, but why was he doing a Britney-Spears-type performance? Sing, Ok? *Luda: I thought he looked kinda backwards w/ his fro and t-shirt & sneaks, w/ the mermaids in the background  LOL @ him giving a thank-you speech that was longer than Ushers, talking bout "I knkow it's your song but I'm feautured on it!" |
What in the H*ll were they thinking when the left the house!?!?!?

ykimber, I actually liked Kanye's look. Then again, I like the quirky preppy look. :D He was looking a little bit drunk or delirious the way he was dancing around the stage during his performance. He really was acting like someone that has never been anywhere before. I was NOT feeling Lyte's sheer gown thingy. *thumbs down* |

Boooooo! I know he was hatin life *People not knowing how to read the teleprompters (excluding Monique, that wasn't her fault) That's all I can think of know. Be back with more as I remember. Q |
Alright this is my critique of the 2004 BET Awards.....
Monique had me rollin' since she had came on the stage, she finally proves that HEALTHY women can shake it with the rest. The OutKast performance was something that I feel that I couldn't get into. i was mad confused because it looked like it was thrown 2gether at the last minute. I would have them rather did "I Like the Way U Move" and "Hey Ya". The Usher performance had great expectations, BUT I and everybody else felt incredibly let down. WTF was going on the the ending to "Burn" with the weak lights coming up and the flames were on the screen????? Compared to the pyro of others WHAT HAPPENED????? Maybe he'll come up with something better at the next award show. Rich James blew me away literally. I don't know what provoked him to just call out some woman all because she did not know who he was. Come on Rick, ain't nobody seen you since your Beyond the Music on VH1. Maybe you should have passed on the gunja. Anyway Teena and he had me in a loop with their duet. Whether it was good or bad, "Fire and Desire" had me. India Arie did the most touching tribute to Ray Charles. It would be amazing if other artists decided to keep some of their performances simple. Now it would be off the hook if that guitar she was played could be auctioned off on Ebay. Beyonce, it is alright to admit that you and Jay, are an item. Everybody else does. Besides Jay has made his feelings known more than once how he feels about you, especially last night when he appluaded at what Ronald Isley said. And I cannot wait until they do have children. The Best of the Best.... --Hip Hop 25 years performance-show the young kats how it is done. --Monique!!!!! --Alicia Keys --Ludacris with Stand Up- it was all about the mood!!! The Worst of the Worst..... --G-Unit- pick a part and go from there!!!!! --Raven and Tracee Ellis Ross- why were they there??? --Carmelo Anthony- Lebron would have made it |
wait
Was I the only one who saw that Kanye West mom outfit looked like it came from a 99 cent thrift store.
|
…and the Ultra Hot Ghetto Mess Award goes to
Rick James for looking like the lead singer of Sexual Chocolate! Did you notice that he had on a dark brown (what is that velvet?) suit with rhinestones and a ruffled shirt? When he came strutting down that aisle, I didn’t know that it was him. It sure sounded like him but I thought that he and his wife were still in jail. That may explain why he looked pasty. That or he’s still on the pipe. My money is on the pipe. He also has “dunlop disease” since his stomach dunlopped over the TWO belts that he was wearing! I really enjoyed the show in spite of the BS moments. Favorites * Monique was awesome. I loved her opening number. I also enjoyed her playing with Denzel. Mmm…Denzel Loved it when she told Ying, or was it Yang, to spell it. * The Isley Brothers. Period * Grandmaster Melly Mel – Good Guggah Muggah!!! * 25th anniversary celebration in general was awesome! * India Arie was fabulous. I enjoyed her rendition of Georgia * Kanye West and Yolanda Adams did their thing! WTF * Elephant Man – Was he speaking English? * Tracey Ross and Raven – What genius put them together? * 99 Problems just went to 100 problems because that isht was messed up * Their Crunkness the Ying Yang Twins and the girls with no home training |
LisaRaye and Brandy
I did not see whatever went doen between them but read LisaRaye got bent out shape because Brandy called her Lisa. Funniest commentary I have read on that... from the BET messgeboard-
