HBOs "Sex and the City"

Am I the only one... or are there any viewers of Sex and the City? It's a good show.
The first episode of the new season airs tonight. It will be interesting to see what "sex-capades" the girls will have awaiting them. I think "Mr. Big" will make show up from time to time. I really wanted him to get with Carrie. Also, I hope they add some of "us" to the show.

c&c1913 06-05-2000 02:52 PM

Hello AKA2D '91,

I thought I was the ONLY one who watched the show. I started watching it mid-season last year and with the help of the re-runs, I know what's going on. I also saw the episode last night. I just knew that a fire alarm would go off while Samantha was "doing her thing"! I agree that they could throw a sista in an episode every now and then, but the current characters are a little too "generous" (if you know what I mean)!

Sisterly,
c&c1913

ZetaAce 06-05-2000 03:00 PM

I watch the SitC too! I got into it while watching the reruns. I like it because the characters seem a lot more real to me (especially compared with some of the shows on TV nowadays). I like the frank dialogue. I hope they add some of 'us' to the show too, but not as one of the friends. Those girls are loose!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif

FOR ALL THE LOYAL FANS OUT THERE:

THE SEASON PREMIERE IS THIS SUNDAY!

YAY! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Serenity 05-31-2001 08:57 PM

The cast was on Oprah last week. I could not stop smiling as I watched the show. You'd think I knew these ladies personally. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I am so ready for the new season. It'll be on for a whole hour on Sunday. Back-to-back episodes, YIPPEE! And, guess what I heard on Oprah? Samantha falls in LOVE this season! Now you know that's going to be good.

Diva7401 06-01-2001 12:20 AM

I love me some Sex in the City! I am hooked! Do yall remember the last episode of last season when that transvestite cursed out Samantha? It had me laughing for days! I will be at the TV with my popcorn on Sunday for the premiere. I hope there is MORE Mr. Big this season.

Onenine08 06-01-2001 02:24 AM

I love SITC! Its so real. There is an equal character for each member of my friendship circle. I am a little embarrassed to say which character my friends equate me with.
;-) None the less, the little tips and pointers I give my girls help to enhance their sex lives, so they appreciate me. hahaha
I like that show girlfriends, too.

kiml122 06-01-2001 07:32 AM

I too am a die hard Sex in the City fan and I can not wait for Sunday to get here. Now that the Soprano's season is over, it's time for some mad cap comedy with the laides of Sex in the City. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/realhappy/jump.gif

My girl watches this show and I hate it. All the conversations center around who will eventually get some. It turns my stomach to listen to women talk so openly about sex. I know I'll get flack from you ladies but as I watch the show it makes me want to holler whore. The show is truly for the girls!

buterscotch1 06-01-2001 08:31 AM

!!!Yippie!!! I can't wait until Sunday. 4 of us are getting together for finger foods and COSMOS. After the show we try to decide what we did/would do if in their shoes. I agree with you AKA2D'91, I too would like to see Carrie with Big, and how real is NYC without any Sistah's???

RAYZON 06-01-2001 08:36 AM

And guys don't openly talk sex to their friends??? Why is it when they do it, it's deemed "being a man", "being macho", whatever-whatever, but when a woman does it, it screams whore??? Aren't we all at one time or another guilty of "kiss and tell"? These are general questions, not jump down the throat of the author feel free to answer.

RAYZON 06-01-2001 08:37 AM

PS, I wanted to see Mr. BIG and Carrie get together too. I wonder why they will not write that into the script.

Professor 06-01-2001 03:36 PM

ummmmm yea, it happens but it just does not seem appropriate for women to disscuss publicly.

I love all of HBO's sitcoms... I have had a few problems with the Soprano's, but I am over it... Sex and the City has been numero uno on my list since I started watching it -- and I watch it religiously... Are you kidding! If Carrie and Big married.... the show would be soooooo boring. She needs to keep making some mistakes so I can continue to learn how to deal with these men out here <laughing>... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I know, with them, it's all about the CHASE!

BlackApplePie 06-03-2001 01:08 AM

I am so glad to know that I'm not the only sista that watches Sex and the City!! I fell in love with the show last season and I can't get enough of it. I agree with everyone else, I wish they would add one of "us" to the show--maybe even as one of the girlfriends, it would make things even more interesting! Sadly, I won't be able to watch on Sunday, would someone mind filling me in?

You shouldn't have anything to worry about. I believe the re-run will air during the week. You know HBO doesn't show anything ONE night only.

There is also a new series premiering after SEX...SIX FEET UNDER anyone planning on watching?

kiml122 06-03-2001 10:17 PM

Ok I liked the 2nd episode much better than the first. Now can I get a show of hands that agree that Carrie is the Sugar Honey Ice Tea after she fell. She strutted her stuck like she was all that.....and she was!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/cool.gif

Just got finished watching the season premieres. The first episode got me feeling sad with Carrie being 35 and alone.
The second episode had me dying with laughter, especially Carrie's pratfall and Charlotte's hangups. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Diva7401 06-03-2001 11:01 PM

Mr Big is the Man...100 Grand!

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/tiere/ride.gif

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind http://www.plauder-smilies.de/nut.gif

Chi_ZETABBW 06-03-2001 11:52 PM

I liked both episodes. I'm a new watcher. Who exactly is Mr. Big, and why can't him and Carrie get together. Oh 6 feet under sucked!

RAYZON 06-04-2001 09:06 AM

Yes, I saw it last night and I must give it two thumbs up, a twist and a kiss....lol. I can't see Carrie and Mr. BIG married, but I think they would make such a cute couple. Since I am most certain that the show would die because of that, is more and likely the reason why they will not have those two get together. Carrie was doing it in that Fashion show until she fell, Im like DAM, DAM, DAM...........but it was good to see it on again. I understand your point Professor, I don't think it's appropriate to discuss your persoanl sex life with anyone. I feel that that is something that is between you and your mate.

lovelyivy84 06-04-2001 01:36 PM

I saw it too!

Last night was great! My personal favorite moment though was when Charlotte was explaining to her girls that she was...depressed...

I was LMAO at that!

It was kind of odd though, I watched itt with some of my guy friends last night and it just wasn't the same. I need to be with my girls to fully appreciate that show!!!

dstbrat 06-04-2001 04:12 PM

i love sex and the city. i have been watching since season 1 and it gets better and better. the first one did make me sad. i just had a birthday and it was kind of sad too. i loved charlotte's idea of the girls being each other's soul mates! it really does take the pressure of when you can think of sisters, sorors or friends who really know and love you! anyway, carrie was the ish (fall and all)! my favorit moment from that episode was when carrie's gay friend said that he hates it when he gets rejected by someone he even want! that is so true. anyway, i love the little mr. big tease. i am ok as long as i can see him every once in a while. i think carrie is too!

NubianBlue 06-04-2001 04:15 PM

I thought the new episodes of Sex in the City were TOO funny! When Carrie fell on that runway, I was no good. But in all seriousness, I think shows like this are healthy because they talk about what are on some women's minds. The show is a little racy, but I think that's good. Our society teaches us to really suppress our sexuality in order to be 'good girls'. Meanwhile, the same people (mostly men) are out doing their sexual dirt. Come on, some of the stuff these women say, I KNOW some women think but are afraid to say it! Cheers for being liberated!

Serenity 06-04-2001 06:33 PM

I LOVED it! I felt so sad when Carrie was at her birthday celebration. I also wanted to kick that construction crew. Shoot! They're lucky I'm not Carrie cause with a day like that - let's just say the construction crew woulda been working overtime. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif Mr. Big... What can I say? http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Did anyone else get up and dance at the end of the second episode when "To be Real" was playing? Ya'll couldn't tell me nothing last night. That is my JAM!!!

Oh, what the heck is up with Charlotte's husband. He's got problems. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif

As for "Six Feet Under", YUCK! I hated it. BTW, is the cop Tad's brother, Adrian, from "All My Children"? He looks so familiar but I can't place the face.

RAYZON 06-05-2001 08:30 AM

Serenity, I feel you on the construction crew. I was like dang give a woman a break, but I honestly thought carries friends were all in her apartment hiding and waiting for her to come home. That would have been nice, but she had a nice turn out anyways.

AKA2D '91 06-12-2001 10:39 AM

Are they trying to make Samantha a lesbian now?

AKA2D '91 06-12-2001 11:17 PM

Will someone puhlleeeze chake the chit out of Charlotte for me! She is getting on my nerves with her drama with Trey!

Notice my usage of alliteration..."ch"! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

prayerfull 06-13-2001 02:55 PM

AKA2D'91 - - thank you for that link. This show is ON POINT. I'm going to have to check out the other animated shows.

Diva7401 06-17-2001 10:39 PM

WHOA!
Did anyone else catch tonight's episode? All I have to say is...... TMI-TOO MUCH INFORMATION! They could have been a bit more "discreet" with Samantha's love scenes.

AKA_Monet 06-17-2001 11:06 PM

HAAAY!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Us West Coasters aren't gonna see it till a couple of hours from your time!!!

Yes, been a SITC fan sense day ONE!!! Even gone on the board for SITC. Got in arguements and fights with folks.

Anyhow, last weeks show: Classic SITC. One of the girls getting into some trouble, then reflection on Carrie's part in the end...

It would be interesting to see what's next...

As far as Six Feet Under: The brotha---What a waste of GOOD equipment... But whatever floats your boat.

They were no more "indiscreet" with her love scenes with a woamn than they are with her many love scenes with men. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/cool.gif The show itself is rather upfront with the issue of sex and love scenes, with Samantha and every other character.

Ideal08 06-18-2001 09:55 AM

I just wonder how long this whole "lesbian" thing is gonna last with Samantha. Yall know how flighty she is. We'll see.

hey yall!

let me say miranda had me laughing! she was killing that chocolate cake. but, i have done it too! except i was too ashamed to tell anyone!

i don't think sam will make it long as a lesbian. i think she is intrigued and as soon as she masters it she will get tired and move on. there seems to be some of that going around. melissa ethridges' partner just decided that she wasn;t gay anymore and so did anne heche (she marrying a man now). i think it is a phase that some people go through. it is unfortuate because i am sure their partners get hurt when they change back.

anywoo, i knew the jazz guy wasn;t going to last long!
