Sorors, You know that you have gone AKA overborad...

when you or another Soror...

1. paint your fingernails/toenails Pink and Green
2. name your kids after founders
3. carry your Constitution and By-laws in your purse
4. buy anything with ivies, even if it is horrendous
5. stop speaking/socializing to those who do are not Sorors or interested in our Sorority

I saw this on another site. I thought I'd bring it to ya. Have fun with it, Sorors!

EXCUSE MY MISSPELLING OF **BOARD**

[This message has been edited by AKA2D '91 (edited August 03, 2001).]

naturalbeauty08 08-03-2001 02:20 PM

you know you are overboard when you refuse to touch anything red. Since I've pledged I have yet to own a red piece of clothing.
(Still got much love for my DST greek sistas though) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

When you've painted your house pink with green shutters or vice versa!!

Wonderful1908 08-03-2001 03:09 PM

When you have the AKA license plate in the front AND the back of you car AND the window stickers AND something hanging from the rear view mirror.

Happydaysf91 08-03-2001 03:43 PM

When you have (or desire to have) one room in your home decorated in pink and green and don't let anyone come in there except sorors.

When you just can't wait to have a little girl so that you can 'make' her a soror one day.

When you have a regular checking account for your everyday life expenses and a special AKA account for dues, conferences and events.

You are a professional woman, but have more AKA t-shirts than suits (smile).

now ya know...eh hem
I purchased a RED summer dress; HOWEVER, it does have like white stripes around the arm, so, it's still PINK, right?

Other than that, I STILL don't own anything red/crimson. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif Have I gone overboard, after all these years?

Uh oh Soror Wonderful, that would have to be me!!

I KNOW I HAVE GONE OVERBOARD BECAUSE:
1.)all the clothes i am bringing back to campus are either pink, green, pink and green, or have a hint of those two colors in there somewheres

2.)my Nokia phonecase is pink and green (for all those that are interested you can find it at www.Nokia.com !)

3.)I wanna name my daughter Aka (pronounced aykah) but my mom convinced me it could blow up in my face especially if she turns around and wants to pledge DST http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

4.)My beads in my hair are pink and green

5.)I can't walk out the house without one piece of nalia whether is a pin, tote-bag, t-shirt, whatever. I feel naked without it!

6.)Gave all my red clothing to my ex-roomate that just crossed DST. (hey i don't have a need for it!)

Okay that's enough for now http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Dang, SFactor!! You sure you don't know some folks I know?! Before I pledged, I used to drive by a house every day that was very deep pink all over and had freakin' LOUD GREEN shutters. Both of the colors are so darned flourescent, you'd swear the house glows at night. I've yet to find out who lives there. Maybe I should do some detective work.

1. dress in pink and green nalia from head to toe (cap, shirt, shorts, socks, shoes).

2. buy anything pink and green just because

3. refuse to buy a car unless you can get it in green

WenD08 08-04-2001 12:08 AM

you know you've gone overboard when you're wearing an:
-AKA hat w/pin(s)
-AKA shirt w/pin(s)
-AKA bottoms
-AKA sox
-AKA gym shoes
-AKA shoelaces
*and an AKA watch, earrings, necklace, plus pink nail polish. at THE SAME TIME. GLAMOUR magazine will want to take a picture of you since you would be considered a GLAMOUR "Don't". i've seen someone in this get-up, in another Sorority, i might add. it was a bit much. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Discogoddess 08-04-2001 12:14 AM

I would have to agree with my sorors and add, that it's def. overboard to rock the 'nalia hard, yet plead poverty when asked "soror, are you active?" http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

IMHO, there isn't anything wrong with the shoe. NOW, if a Soror were to wear the shoes with other AKA NALIA from head to toe, then THAT, is OVERBOARD AND DOWN RIGHT RIDICULOUS.

If I do buy a pair, I'll ONLY wear the shoes, and no other para.

Well, Soror better go out and buy some paper/plastic cups from the dollar store, for those non-Sorors.

showstopper_1908 08-06-2001 12:32 AM

I've seen quite a few Sorors in NYC wear those AKA Max sneakers (whatever they're called, lol), they are pretty popular out here. I saw one Soror at Leadership wear them with an AKA T-shirt and an AKA cap with an AKA pin on it. Something only an older Soror can do. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Those maybe older Sorors in Chronological years, but I bet they are not AS OLD in AKA years. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif That's who I have always seen "maxed" out in all that para and the neos. uggggghhhhhhh! No offense, but...

OK, GUILTY AGAIN!!!!

However, the name I came up with has A.K.A. as the initials "Alexis Katrice Anderson". And the first girl I have, that WILL be her name. I have always liked "A" names. My son is Aaron, and he would have been my Alexis had he been a girl. And I am lucky enough to be marrying an "Anderson" and my middle name is DeTrice (which I hate). But "Katrice" sounds so much better http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif.

This entire topic reminds me of all of the older Sorors in my sponsoring Grad chapter http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif The day I crossed the Grad chapter all had on AKA earings, with an AKA necklace (or 2) and an AKA watch, etc. It was like an amusement park! One younger Grad Soror took us to the side and made it a point to tell us, "ONLY 1 PIECE OF PARA AT A TIME!".
I guess after I become a Golden Soror I'll wear my golden pin on my AKA cap and wear my other pins on my AKA socks. It seems like the in thing to do. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

**tea cups and glasses(only for Sorors)
**pink & green room (kitchen is all ivy also)
**my car is green and I have a front plate and rear emblem.
**have to have at least one piece of nalia also(keychain counts)
**always wear my AKA ring(crossing gift from Mom) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Ideal08 08-10-2001 01:24 AM

Yeah, I'm pretty much caught up in this as well, lol.

*My AOL background is pink, and my font is green.
*I have a AKA plate on the front of my car, a little paddle hanging from my rearview mirror, and a sticker along the back window.
*I have a piece of naila everyday. If not my necklace, my keychain. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
*My comforter set is pink and green (I had it before I crossed http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif)
*My kitchen is ivy, too http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
*I pose in the mirror with my pinky up, LMAO. I can't believe I told yall that, lol. But I know some of yall do it too. INCLUDING YOU SF'S http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif

Thats funny. Actually my real name which I'm not going to post here on greekchat. Is a combination of my moms first name( who is a soror) and the letters AKA. So my name is **A-K-A, I'm glad it worked out in the end! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
You should of seen when I went to rush and they asked me to spell my name. They were like no she didn't!

poizniv 08-10-2001 04:08 AM

Okay Sorors, don't laugh but I DID name my daughter something similar to the name(s) that you've mentioned. It was actually my mom's idea (she's also a soror). I do think that it's very precious now and it fits her to the "T" (my daughter that is). Okay this is really bad...my little sister's name is also like that spelled *-*-A-K-A! She had the same problem at rush. They asked her to spell her name and she was like, "you know; just like it sounds". Of course the response was just like the soror said before "No she didn't" Oh the agony of being a sophisticated chosen one from birth. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

Given the way the Sorors up the interstate have "acted" historically during their rush!

I can believe it!

Diamond007 08-11-2001 11:24 PM

Sorors!!!!! I have missed you all!!!!! This is a topic that I must share!!! I love my sorority!!!!! Its like no other so I take this as a SERIOUS MATTER!!!!!!!
MY daughter is in the Future AKA nalia and the Khaki hat to match not to mention she always can be found only in pastels mainly Pretty in Pink... I have always thought that little girls look beautiful in PINK!!!! I don't think that I did it intentionally. I have my AKA briefcase which I take with me everywhere and my gold AKA business card holder. I have so much even down to the linen AKA dinner napkins. I try to keep the nalia down to one item when I dress. I have always dressed mainly in pastels but I have FLY two piece after five suit from Spiegel that my sorors asked when I walked in the room at a ball.... WHO IS THAT? SHE MUST BE DST. Until they saw that it was me. That was a rare occassion that I was RED. Y'all know that they talked about me but I couldn't resist that suit and besides... I LOOKED D*** GOOD IN IT!!!!!!
