GA teacher forced to resign after she wrote love letters to a student
 

ALBANY, Ga. -- A high school English teacher resigned after school officials found notes and a racy poem she allegedly wrote to a 17-year-old student.

"It pleases me that you want me as much as I want you," read one of the 13 notes attributed to Carla Murray, 32. The notes were found in the male student's locker after other students tipped authorities.

One note included a poem: "The smell of your cologne mixed w/sweat/ The sounds you make while - / The touch of your hands/ The taste of your mouth,/ There's more, but I won't embarrass myself by mentioning them."

The notes were obtained Tuesday by TV station WALB, which sued to have them made public. The notes were unsigned, but school investigators concluded Murray wrote them after a handwriting expert read the notes aloud to Murray and had her rewrite them.

Albany Police will review the letters to see if criminal charges are warranted, Capt. Charlie Poole said Wednesday. He didn't elaborate. A state professional review is scheduled in June, and Murray could lose her teaching certificate.

Especially worrisome to officials were the notes written after the alleged relationship ended.

"I hate to see you flirting," one note read, and, "I'll try not to be super stalker for a few days."

In another letter: "I hope you don't mind if I keep tabs on you. ... So if I look mad ... it's really sadness you're looking at."

Murray's attorney, Howard Stiller, said Murray was a dedicated professional, although he wouldn't talk about specifics of the case.

Seriously, though, most women who I know may date a dude in his 20s or early 30s (I'm nearly 40), but not some young person who isn't ready emotionally, economically and educationally to build a life.

There is a big difference between how men and women view age differences. Shrug. I am not precisely sure why.

Just as there is a major difference and how men and women judge the importance of education and income as a factor in a relationship.

One of my female hs teacher married one of my male classmates. I don't think anything started until after graduation, but I might be wrong. She was straight out of college and 22 when she started teaching. We were juniors and 16. Six years isn't a big age difference, but at those ages it is like a lifetime.

If the legal age of consent in Georgia is 16, does stautory rape still apply?

Yes if they are over the age of 21.
