I wonder if he's related to the Emperor,

Rudey 05-03-2004 03:43 PM

OK I really want a farm to raise either Llamas, alpaca (sp?), emus, ostriches or some other strange creatures. I hear it's very profitable and Llamas supposedly have health benefits (owning and not eating).

WCUgirl 05-03-2004 03:48 PM

Okay, these people down the street from me where I grew up had ostriches. It wasn't a farm -- they had them just living in their back yard!

moe.ron 05-03-2004 03:51 PM

I love eating Ostriche meat. Also very healthy.

Is that a mexican whooping llama? Or an Ecuadorian Mountain Llama?

You sure it's even a llama? it could be a North Chilean Guanaco

He is the Emperor Llama. How dare you put his lordship at the same level of the North Chilean Guanaco.

Hey! I'm the Great Llama!

KillarneyRose 05-03-2004 08:01 PM

I llike llamas; they llook so llovable! I think they're hard to llive with, though. They eat a llot.

AchtungBaby80 05-03-2004 10:30 PM

A lot of people around here raise llamas. They show them at llama shows, mostly. I love them...they're so cute and fluffy, like a big dog that spits. :p

Rio_Kohitsuji 05-03-2004 10:46 PM

Hmm..I passed llama farm yesterday...they had baby llamas..I want one :)

GeekyPenguin 05-03-2004 11:19 PM

My high school boyfriend and I went to go see "The Emperor's New Groove" and for the next three months all I heard was "Lllama llama llama llama."

alphachiohmy 05-03-2004 11:46 PM

Alpacas is where its at, apparently. Haven't you seen the late night commercials? www.ilovealpacas.com.

alphachiohmy 05-03-2004 11:49 PM

In case you are wondering:

How do you transport Alpacas? Alpacas are far easier to transport than ordinary livestock. Besides trailer travel, Alpacas can be transported in the enclosed back of a truck, sports utility vehicle, mini van, or even a station wagon for short distances.

I really need to be productive and finish grading. I am posting about alpacas.

Kevin 05-03-2004 11:56 PM

A few years ago, llamas were kind of a fad in my hometown. I think a few folks still raise them. I never really saw the use in them.

swissmiss04 05-04-2004 12:04 AM

My family had one on their farm to keep the cows in the pasture. Llamas are mean little b*tches. Or big ones, actually. Don't mess w/ them!

RioLambdaAlum 05-04-2004 12:58 AM

LOL the kids in the class right beside mine are taking a field trip to a llama farm this week. Gotta luv preschool age kids!

CatStarESP4 05-04-2004 01:02 AM

In Monty Python's Flying Circus, there was a sketch with a song devoted to the llama.

Sunrise over the turquoise mountains, messenger birds in sight
They came up through the valley, both sides at a time
Through the cold steady rain Raid! I bend down
Poke a double decker on a llama. Llama, Taboot Taboot
Trigger a blastoplast, ramshackle laker recedes I start to run
It was the loudest thing I'd ever heard And I knew my time had come
To enter the delta

Leave it on press, depress, depress.
Llama, Taboot Taboot

mmcat 05-04-2004 07:58 AM

go llamas...go llamas, even if you do spit.

moe.ron 05-05-2004 06:38 AM

Is there any athletic programs with llama as their mascot?

If you play Maxis games, the sports teams in the Sim games are always the Llamas.

moe.ron 05-05-2004 12:06 PM

Nice call. Forgot about Maxis and the llamas. It seems that my city team in SimCity always sucked.

swissmiss04 05-11-2004 09:33 PM

This is the greatest thread EVER!!

Does anyone remember a song they sang on Sesame Street once about a little girl and her llama going to the dentist? Whenever someone does something completely random (usually me) it is most often followed by me, my husband, or one of our friends singing that song...specifically:

"Meeeeeeee and my llama,
Goooooin' to the Dentist..."

Only that line because that's pretty much all I can remember...

Sorry...when I see something like this I get excited and randomness in my mind ensues.
