Why is Cleo stalking me?!?
My people,
Two weeks ago, while cooking dinner, my phone rang. I was expecting a very important call, so I rushed to the phone and eagerly answered it... only to be utterly disturbed by the familiar voice literally screaming on the other in. "HELLO! THIS IS CLEO..." Me:"What the fu......?" "CALL ME NOW SO I CAN REVEAL WHAT THE STARS HAVE IN STORE FOR YOUR FUTURE!" ME:"Oh God, How did she get my nu....." "YOU MUST CALL ME NOW. IT IS THE ONLY WAY...(Something, something)YOUR PSYCHIC CONNECTION (something, something)" Me: "Goodbye Freak" I finally hung up, but for some reason I felt all violated. A few days later, I get home from work to find my 6 & 9 year old nieces giggling. Me: "What's so funny girls?" "CLEO CALLED YOU! CLEO FROM T.V.!! AUNTIE WE DIDN'T KNOW YOU KNEW CLEO!" they scream and laugh (not knowing how not funny this is) ...last night, as soon as I get in the door I hear the phone ringing. I stop half way as I approach the phone knowing exactly who it is. Sure enough, it's her again! It's like I'm stuck in some episode of the Twilight Zone or something...How in the world did these fools get my number?!? |
Have you called Cleo before? or a psychic for that matter?

Automatic dialers can be programed to generate random numbers. They know they have a "live" one when there is a conection longer than a few seconds. I think you should be able to block their number or something. Call your phone company to verify! |
You're not the first person who Miss Cleo called. Someone in my family got a call from her. But they got one call, she's not stalking them. You must be special.

you need to get Privacy Director. That way Miss Cleo, the telemarketers, the bill man, unknown folks can't get to you. They have to identify themselves FIRST, before you can actually speak to them... Call your telephone company to skee if they have this feature. |

A similar thing happened to my family. "Miranda" the friendly psychic kept calling for two months straight. Thankfully we have caller ID now so it weeds out those "unavailable" numbers. She probably obtained your phone number from a company that sells people's information. eBay will soon be one of those companies effective May 15th. It's possible that you could've filled something out (a contest entry form, a survey, etc.) and your information was sold to those psychic companies. |

First she interrupts my good TV programs, favorite commercials, and now she is calling people on their personal time. Dang, she's taking that psychic thing too far!!! I know that the "procedure" is that those interested in her services are supposed to call her...but now she's calling them! I guess she's predicting when they will need to talk with her. Miss Cleo is everywhere. I checked my email this morning and ...... you guested it. I had an email from Miss Cleo. Seems she had a dream "last night" and I need to call her right away for my "free trial reading". If she is not there, I can speak with one of her associates. Yeah, right! I don't think so! Any further correspondence from Cleo will be deleted unopened.

Not only is Cleo emailing me, but I'm getting mail from her up to four times a week from the postal service. I just ripped up mail from her and the shredded pieces are in front of me as I type. AP Wednesday July 25 8:02 AM ET TV Psychic Accused of Consumer Fraud By PAUL SLOCA, Associated Press Writer JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri's attorney general has filed lawsuits against a television psychic hot line for allegedly violating the state's no-call law and consumer fraud. ``Miss Cleo should have seen this coming,'' Attorney General Jay Nixon said. ``It doesn't take a crystal ball to realize that ripping off consumers isn't without consequences.'' Nixon filed two suits Tuesday against Access Resources Services Inc., a Florida company best-known for promoting Miss Cleo's tarot psychic reading. Speaking with a Caribbean accent, Miss Cleo appears in national television commercials promising insights into love, money and other personal matters. The lawsuits filed in St. Louis Circuit Court allege 94 violations of the state's no-call list. The company faces fines of up to $5,000 per violation if found liable for calling people who requested privacy. Sean Moynihan, a New York City-based attorney representing Access, said the state has no basis for suing the company. ``We strongly disagree with the contentions that are raised in the lawsuits,'' Moynihan said. ``We are very anxious to work with the attorney general to demonstrate that the business practices of Access are proper and do adhere to the law.'' Nixon said Missourians were billed for free services and that the company misrepresented reduced rates and waiver fees. For example, customers spent three minutes on the phone providing information including a name, address and phone number then were charged for time spent on hold waiting to speak with a psychic. Missouri residents who never requested the service, including deceased people, have received bills for Miss Cleo's services, Nixon said. Moynihan said telephone companies are responsible for billing, not the company. The company also charged consumers for calls made by minors who did not receive parental consent, Nixon said. Moynihan said the company has safeguards to prevent minors from calling, and only those who lie about their age can get through to the psychic. Mark Pryor, Arkansas' attorney general, sued Access last year for alleged fraud, saying the company had ``used just about every trick in the book to mislead and overbill consumers.'' - |
