What buggs you most about your co-workers?
Ok, so I totally love most of my coworkers. They work hard, are nice, and get along well. However there is one that really ticks me off. She's actually someone I know from outside of work, and we should be friends. However, she has used a number of situations to show how much "better" and "older" she is, and frankly, I am quite sick of it!!!
end rant. What buggs you about your co-workers? |
well right now, if my friggin co-worker would get back to her friggin desk- that would be nice. i am tired of taking all her phone calls this morning while she takes personal calls from her new boyfriend and gossips around the office!
and the words that sum it all up are as follows: "just because you got promoted, doesn't make you any smarter than you were an hour ago" |
I can't stand most of my co-workers. All they do is gossip...hello is this jr. high?
They also feel the need to conduct all the business and gossip by my desk. I wish everyone would sit down and shut up. The only person I really got a long with quit last week (mostly because of the people we work with), so I am all alone. There are a few who I really like, so I can mostly tolerate it. |
I have to deal with "The Loud Chewer" every day! She has at least 2 pieces of fruit in the morning, two in the afternoon, and chomps & slurps like she'll never eat again! One of these days, I'm really going to lose it...
|
I have "The Nosey Co-Worker".
He'll walk past my office several times a day while peering over at my computer to look at what I'm doing. I fear that his neck will end up becoming permanently stuck to the right since this is the direction his whole head is turned every time he walks by my office. He'll sometimes even walk out of his office and throw something away into the garbage can that sits right outside my office just so he can look at whatever I'm doing (he has a garbage can inside his office). I thought it was just me until another co-worker came over to me one day and said, "That guy is really annoying. He keeps walking by my office to check out what I'm doing." |
honestly, i really do like my co-workers. and i am sure there are things that i do that annoy them, but here's a little list of annoyances:
1. the lady who constantly talks about her kids, seriously I am happy that her finally stopped sucking his thumb, but really- i just got off the phone with an atty who screamed at me for a good 10 minutes. i am about to start sucking my thumb. 2. the internet boyfriend lady. yes, you love your internet boyfriend. i am sure he is wonderful. no, i don't care about the cute little flower e-greeting he just sent you. do we have any confirmation that he really exists? 3. the guy who's demanding wife calls him 6 times a day like clock work. 3 times in the morning and 3 times after lunch. you can hear her yelling at him across the room while he takes it. 4. the woman who hordes food at her desk. she goes around stalking out all the offices to see if we have any snaks and then keeps them in seoerate baggies in her desk for later. i think she has some issues with food. 5. suck up man- the guy who has no life, and lives for work. he volunteers for everything and is always the first one here and the last one to leave. he makes the rest of us look bad and he always has an alterative motive. like the time he went through the files on my computer and then tattled that i had been using my im. love him. 6. stop talking to my boobs guy. now i understand if he is sitting and i am standing, he may have to look up past my boobs. however having a conversation about billing with my breasts will not solve anything and i promise they won't talk back and have no hands so nothing will get accomplished. |
I could write a book.....
On this topic. There are a bunch of us in our early to mid 20s and some people just haven't outgrown the whole high school mentality. Hell, some of the guys even date girls in HS!!! Let's just say the rumor mill is rampant where I work.....
Anyway, there's one woman that works there that is sooooo nosy, and she won't keep butting into my personal life.......can't stand that. She hates that some of my friends and I like to go out partying together. HELLO--mind your own damn business!!! |
At my last job I had a huge problem w/ one of my managers. He would not get off the damn phone and sat in the office most of the time rehashing his boy drama to anyone who would listen. One night it took us 2 hours to close because he wasn't contributing sh*t. The next day when asked by the GM why it took so long he blamed it on the rest of us, not him. I told the GM to watch the tape. He got reprimanded. I just get friggin tired of people who don't do their jobs yet blame others when the crap hits the fan.
|
I am amending my earlier post:
friggin why do people in my office open the windows with out asking anyone else if they are warm and would like the window open? i sit right next to the windows, they are open and blowing my papers all over the place as well as being quite comfortable with the temperature in the room and now i need a friggin sweater. |
My current coworkers are pretty cool, except that some of them have the annoying habit of IM'ing instead of walking ten feet to talk to the person in the next cube.
Former coworkers, now... there was the guy who would sneak up behind you and try to catch you surfing the web on company time  , the girl who yapped incessantly on her cell phone at top volume, the guy who spent all his time in the bathroom, the guys who blew off an entire afternoon of work to go get drunk (actually I'm only mad at them because they didn't invite me :p ) and some very inept managers... but that's another thread... |
Most of them are great, except the few who complain ALL the time about how busy they are except everyone else seems to be doing their work while they complain! Then there is the know it all...the rest of us could never measure up to how smart and productive she is, and she will gladly let you know it several times a day

My least favority co worker at the moment is a middle aged guy who is basically a wierdo. His favorite movies are horror and action movies, the gorier the better. He wouldn't shut up about Dawn of the Dead before it came out. We were all sitting around talking about Pulp Fiction and the first thing he mentions is the scene where they're robbing the restaurant and the woman wets her pants (funny because I don't remember that.) He said he fast forwarded through Lost in Translation "waiting for something to happen", has a laugh like a deranged snagglepuss and is always cranking the AC.
The real capper was the when I was talking to a coworker, L about the bars he had hit the night before and this guy busts out with: "You keep partying like that and you're going to get AIDS." The guy he said that to handled it a lot cooler than I would have and just said "No man, I don't party like that" and then dropped it. How do I keep getting stuck working with such freaks? |
I hate the talker. Whether it's on the phone, blabbing about her weekend, or constantly interfering in my projects when she overhears, one thing never changes, I hate this girl. She's allergic to bananas and I make it a point to eat bananas around her.
-Rudey |
They won't play poker with me anymore :(
Damn, it was a nice income supplemental. |
I hate working with a bunch of women. I feel like I'm betraying my own gender when I say that, but whenever a bunch of women are put in a work situation, the gossip, backstabbing and nitpicking begin. And the one who may be higher up on the corporate foodchain than the others invariably spends most of her time trying to show off her "power" and generally trying to prove that she is Queen Turd on Poop Mountain.

Unfortunately, I work with some teachers who leave something to be desired. There are the "Hall Chatters" who stand in the hall and gossip all day while their classes go crazy. Then there is the "Cellphone Queen" who spends most of her day walking around the halls talking on the phone. I swear, I hardly ever see her without the phone to her ear.

[bitch]
I'm sure I probably make someone's list.. Since I'm lazy and bitch when customers buy stuff because it actually means I have to do stuff, but hey... It's a layed back chill job that I only took because my girlfriend's (now ex) dad owns the place... ANYWAY... back on topic! My workplace is FULL of gossip and I must admit that sometimes it is a little interesting. but more often than not it gets old really fast... Also -- even though hes not really that bad of a guy, i've got this guy who gets good grades, was president of college republicans, etc.. Well He's quite indecisive.. First wants to go to law school, then divinity school, then something else, so on and so forth... The guy talks and talks about himself and only himself.. Dont even try telling this guy something. just REALLLY annoys me... especially when i have to force myself to get up from the comfortable chair to move shit because this dude is on the phone talking to dick, jane and bob about how tough work is... grrrr [/bitch] -Matt |
I like your [bitch] quotes [/bitch], like you are ging to get special formatting. funny!
So, I took back my old part time job, since I am trying to apply to Med School and I need money to apply (eek!). It's not too bad, but I didn't realize how annoying customer service was until I had to go back to it. I work behind the desk at the local Kaplan center, when what I really want to do is teach an MCAT calss (more fun, more money, less time. What's not to like?). I told the managers I want to teach, but since I left the job so I could study and work at my full time job, I don't think they are all that thrilled (I guess they think I will leave again). I'm annoyed since The Princeton Review called and offered me a position that I can't take becasue of an agreement I signed at the begining of my employment. *sigh!* I guess I'll have to hope they desperately need someone for the next class round. |
For the most part my coworkers are great--we all get along and we have a good time at work.
There is one who is constantly bragging about her darling daughters or complaining of not feeling well or bitching about money or acting like she knows everything about everything or overreacting to something. She's just hard to work around day after day when every hour there's a new drama. Luckily, she leaves two hours early every day, so the rest of us get together and get our daily complaints out of our system after she leaves. |
The co-worker who criticizes everybody else, knows what time each person comes in and leaves, etc. Then, during our semi-annual "uninstall all unauthorized software" project, it take 45 minutes to uninstall all the crap she installed on her computer. From home designing programs (she's building a house soon) to embroidery designing programs to games games games. READ the policy on unauthorized software use on work computers!!! And stop keeping track of everybody else's time when you obviously spend half your time doing non work related crap on your computer!!!!!!!!!
Phew, that felt good! Dee |
It would be an easier question to answer if you asked me what didn't bother me about my co-workers. They are a big group of rednecks that either do one or all of the following: chew w/ their mouths open, make random sounds from random body parts all day, turn on a country radio station & sing aloud while we are working, play w/ toys that wind up, don't work hard enough & expect the hard workers to pick up their slack, answer their cell phones in the middle of meetings, don't dress appropriately, & don't respect anyone younger than them that they don't understand (which would be me). And this is the short list.
|
Wait, I forgot some. They throw things @ each other, they hit each other, they throw fits when someone disagrees w/ them, they are conspiracy theorists & think that everything down around the company is only to make them miserable, they think they are intelligient but do & say the stupidest things imaginable, they all have terrible memories & ask the same questions several times a day, they laugh when they spill things on their expensive work laptops because they don't realize that it could actually damage it, & under no circumstances do they ever wish to have a candid honest conversation because they would always rather listen to themselves talk & then be angry when someone expresses a different opinion.
|
Right now I pretty much get along with everyone. And the people who bug me I understand that they have limitations and issues and don't let it get to me.
My field instructor this year taught me that you have to look at your co-workers how you would look at your clients, for their strengths and their weaknesses. There is bad and good in everybody. Am I being way too Social-workey? LOL. I start a new position next week and have been FORE-WARNED about the problems in that program but I really am not going to let it get to me, I am one of those people who leaves work at work, it's not worth it to stress yourself out over. |
I just remembered another one. They think they are funny, but their jokes weren't popular since they graduated high school back in the 1960's.
|
They use incorrect grammar, spelling & punctuation and the worse part is THEY DON'T REALIZE IT!!!
|
And all they talk about is motorcycles & wearing leather all day. The ones that don't have a motorcycle want one now because its soooooo cool to wear leather & be in a motorcycle club when you're 50-65.
|
I have no coworkers :D
|
Here's another one: I have a couple of coworkers who sit near me and spend a lot of their day on teleconferences. Would it really kill them to get headsets instead of using speakerphone? Especially when they're on the same call and I have to hear it in stereo?
|
So it's been about a month exactly that i've been at this job. Love my coworkers, EXCEPT ONE!
I work for a law firm. Most people know that's a pretty conservative environment. This kid has not had a haircut in a year at least. It's long, unruly, and curly. His clothes are always wrinkled. He buys most of them at Goodwill. Not knocking GW, but you don't buy work clothes there. He was wearing a suit yesterday that was huge on him. Note: he is not shopping there b/c he's poor. He has a very expensive IPod and was talking about getting another one! He is either stupid or think none of the rules apply to him. We were told very clearly first day: no talking on your cell phone. He does all the time. We're not supposed to type our own assignments, we're supposed to dictate and the secretaries type them (they have macros and stuff for the formatting). He hasn't dictated yet. He leaves for long periods of time. Just disappears. He left early when our boss wasn't here last Friday. Left at 2:30. Signed out as 3:30. That same day he has asked me to help him with an assignment b/c he had something else that was due that day too. Came in late yesterday (almost 10:30), signed in as 9:45. So he's lying about his time... wonder what his timesheet looks like. Again, it was very clear when we started we were to be there from 9-5 We went to the attorney's meeting Wed. He came in late. HUGE ass bags under his eyes. Looked like he just got off a long-weekend bender. It's getting REALLY REALLY frustrating to myself and the other law clerks. It's putting more work on us. And none of us just waltz out for a few hours. While we don't want to be tattletales, it really really bugs us and is making the work environment tense. The boss doesn't check in on us much. We don't want to go running to him, so we're trying to slip in comments here and there. When the coworker was late for the meeting and I was asked where he was, i just said "i don't know, he hasn't been around for awhile". ARGH. Maybe i'll have a few drinks at happy hour and then blame it on the alcohol that I told the boss how irked we all are. |
I can't believe I forgot about the Dress Code Police! There is one woman in my office who runs around telling people they're inappropriately dressed (our dress code is business casual). I overheard her yesterday talking to two women, telling one of them her skirt was too short (I think it fell just above the knee) and asking the other, "Those aren't jeans, are they?"
At a previous job, we had the IT department from hell. If there were software packages or upgrades to install, they wouldn't go up to people and say "I need to install X on your computer, it'll take five minutes, can I do it now or should I come back later?" They would wait until people stepped away from their desks, and then just go and install, and if the computer had to be rebooted and the user lost their data, what did they care. |
I work w/ a total of 4 other people. The closest to me in age is our office manager, and she graduated from college 12 years before I did. So, I am sort of the unofficial computer expert of the firm. Whenever someone needs something simple done, like formatting changed on their Word document, guess who they come to. ME! I'm also the only one who has ever used PowerPoint, so I get stuck putting together all the presentations for the seminars we conduct. It's very annoying -- PowerPoint really isn't that hard to learn.
|
I could go on and on about this one...
I work for the state so of course there are plenty of people in my building who got their job because of "who you know". Well the guy in my office got his job because his girlfriend is the former governor's daughter. Anyway, he is constantly on the phone with her (we share an office) and they are always arguing. He even brings her to work some days, for the ENTIRE day!! When he's not permanently attached to her he is coming in late, leaving early and most definitely not marking it on his time sheet. He will disappear for hours and come to find out he's been in the storage room....sleeping!! rant over :) |
I'm bumping this because one of my co-workers keeps pissing me off.
I have all the marketing supplies in my office. Pens, coffee cups, brochures, etc. are in my office. When someone needs a pen or something to give to a client, they'll stand in my doorway and say, "Hey ZTAngel, I need a pen to give to Mr. Jones. Can I grab one?" Sure, no problem. Well, I have this one asshole co-worker who just walks on into my office. I'll be doing work or I'll be on the phone with a client and he'll walk on in without saying a word. He'll go through my office, grab what he needs, mess up the organization of everything (throwing the pens around until he gets the color he needs or dropping stuff all over the floor), not clean up his mess and then walk on out without saying a word. I got so annoyed today because he did this several times that I finally just now sneered at him, "Sure...help yourself." He just looked at me and then kept doing his thing. Ugh. |
I have a new annoying coworker! Actually, he's been there longer than I have, but I hadn't had to deal with him until a couple of months ago.
I'm writing some code that's going to be deployed on servers that "John" is responsible for. He and I agreed on the system architecture months ago, and he's signed off on the design. Now, suddenly, at nearly the last minute, he wants to change things around. To support the new architecture, I will have to rewrite half my code, modify the database design, and we have to do another round of QA. And we'll miss our launch date. And who will look bad as a result? John? No. Me. |
Don't even get me started...
I actually like most of my co-workers. I do have a pet peeve that they all like to push, especially lately. Timeliness. We open for business at 8:30 and close at 5:30. I don't care if you want to stay late, yeah for you, but you still have to be here at 8:30. Coming in at 10:30 or noon is not acceptable because we have lost half of our business day already. |
Okay, I work for a 2 year college that shall remain nameless. So it's not Harvard, but I am MIGHTY proud to have landed a job as an adjunct professor. I love my students, and I see really positive things happening there.
Now, I am SICK AND TIRED of listening to my colleagues talk about how worthless the school is. How they would be at a "real" university if so and so hadn't done such and such back in college. Be proud of what you do and do your best. I just wish people would cool it with the negative attitudes. The students are bound to pick up on that negative energy. |
