Nothing big, or anything at all, that I know of. One is in the works though, supposedly with Christopher Walken. We'll see how that goes. :)

Born and raised in Greenville, MS.

Crossroads-NOT the Britney Spears movie. This one was filmed in 1985/6 and I remember it being something about the Blues in the Mississippi Delta.

The Chamber-parts of this movie were filmed in Greenville and at the state prison at Parchman which is 45 min away from Greenville.

Currently living in Saginaw, MI.

I don't know of any movies that were filmed in Saginaw but I know of some that were filmed in Detroit, which is 2 hrs. away.

8 Mile-parts of it filmed in Detroit
That movie with Danny DeVito and Kadeem Hardison in it about the Army. I know parts of that were filmed in Detroit, too.

I thought they filmed this in Savannah, GA. I know that was the setting of the moving.

I'm sure there are no films that have been produced in my little hometown, unless you count parts of the PBS documentary on the Civil Rights movement, Eyes on the Prize.

My adopted hometown of Atlanta...

Humm....I know there have been several, but the one that sticks out the most is School Daze since it was filmed on the AUC while I was a student. Not a movie, but an episode of the Cosby Show and the outside shots of A Different World were filmed on Spelman's campus. Gilbert Hall's facade was the dorm that I lived in my junior year, Bessie Strong Hall.

I'll have to come back with more.

Intense1920 04-26-2004 10:53 AM

^^^ Yes, it was filmed in Savannah.

As 9dstpm stated, I remember Crossroads being filmed there.

In my current location, here are probably the mostly widely known films that were made here:

The Attic
The Big Kahuna
Mars Attacks
Night Screams
Twister

Oh sorry, didn't mean to crash your board. I had done a search for the Sex and the City thread and this one popped up and I replied before I realized it was in the DST forum. Hope y'all don't mind.

Never mind folks posting. :D All are welcome.

Jeez, what WASN'T filmed here? Vancity stands in for a number of American cities, so lots of things get made here. Justin Timberlake is up here working on a film, the Arnold S. film "The 6th Day" was filmed in the main library downtown, parts of Catwoman were filmed here (and in Montreal), parts of Scooby Doo 2 were filmed on my campus, lots and lots of bad movies of the week and straight to video films were made here, and Lions Gate Films (an emerging distributor) is based here.

This site has a pretty good list of films and syndicated series that are in production or starting production in YVR soon: http://www.hollywoodnorthreport.com/

There have been quite a few in Boston...the names of them escape me right now, perhaps someone else could help me out...

Not as many in CT (where I'm originally from), only Mystic Pizza comes to mind, and that was about 1 hour away from my hometown.

smiley21 05-24-2004 11:33 AM

that movie 'Basic' with John Travolta and Samuel L Jackson was filmed at Mayport/Naval Air Station here in Jacksonville

Adam Sandler's "Bill Madison" was filmed in Toronto. The filmed the highschool portiona at Western Tech, just around the corner from my highschool Humberside CI. My brother met him while he was at a summer camp at Western Tech.

Of course there are many many others. It's cheap to film here and Toronto can easily pass for New York, Chicago, Detroit (the movie with DMX and Steven Segal was filmed here...can't remember the name)

I was reading the Toronto Star yesterday and the pics of the celebrities in town shooting films. Many of the hang out around Bay and Bloor.
Russel Crow, Rene Zellweger, Vivica Fox, to name a few are in Toronto right.

P.S thanks for letting me come and participate on your board.
