pres. bush's accomplishments

i wasn't sure where to put this site but i found it really quite interesting... not sure where all the information was gathered- etc- but of course- it got me thinkingbush's accomplishments

moe.ron 04-25-2004 11:43 AM

The link is to your hotmail account. Cut and paste it.

jonsagara 04-25-2004 01:11 PM

Here's the real link:

swissmiss04 04-25-2004 01:20 PM

Wow. I don't mean to play devil's advocate here (well, ok, I do) but wouldn't this be more legit if there were links to references? Where the compiler got this information. I won't confirm, deny, or debate its veracity, but if I were a Republican-just bear w/ me-I would find this incredibly biased. And a few of these are attacks more on his acquaintances than himself. Granted there's a saying "Show me your friends, and I will know you" but I would be willing to cut him *some* slack for having sketchy friends.
Yes the economy went to hell over the past few years. No denying that. But how much of that was the Administration and how much was inevitable, we really can't tell. I definitely do not agree w/ his spending in the midst of such an economic crisis. I definitely do not agree w/ the Dept. of Homeland Security. I feel he does take too many vacations and does very little in addressing his constituents. Did I vote for him? Yes. Will I again? No way. I gave him the chance and he failed me (among millions of others). That's politics.

Rudey 04-25-2004 02:04 PM

Again, what a joke.

I guess folks who have no idea at all about economics or business would believe those aspects and US/Bush hating folks would just believe the rest.

About as useful and truthful as the "middle class misery index".

DeltAlum 04-25-2004 06:02 PM

Nothing like a few "near truths" to make us "think."

One the other hand, they aren't much worse than some of the TV spots and internet photos posted by the other side.

This campaign will make a fine research paper for some Poly Sci Doctoral type.

AnchorAlum 04-25-2004 08:51 PM

Just a few observations after looking at the site and reading the "accomplishments":

* boy the saying "throw everything against the wall to see what sticks" has to be Terry McAuliffe's personal motto.

* I don't know how to do this, but I am sure that those who have expertise can link this site back to a Democratic operative or a left-wing group.

* George Bush was apparently pretty busy convincing all those folks to file for bankruptcy. Never mind that he doesn't file, they do.

* So George was all about Enron? What about the minor fact that they gave more money over time to Democratic office holders? And no mention of Global Crossing at all? Good work, McAuliffe! You stole money from GC and it NEVER got in the papers!

* 71% of Europe disapproves of George? Wait a minute - that's a positive!

Oh, the heck with it. Bottom line, I'm shocked to see this site linked on this board, one that is by definition one frequented by people who are college educated, discerning, and "supposedly" intelligent people.
I do remember when I was in college. I knew so much when I really knew so little.

So if you disagree with certain views, the people that believe in those views are unintelligent? You know everything so any other view than yours is unintelligent? Everyone learns something from college but obviously you didn't learn humility.
From what I seen is very few people on either side bother to take the time to disprove the propaganda or prove their own views. I admit I don't usually give sources to back everything I post, but I also don't call other people's views other than mine unitelligent.

AnchorAlum , I hand you the microphone! Thank you, now I don't have to type so much!:D

This is only the beginning, wait till Sept. and Oct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are opinions and views except you're trying to pass them off as fact. It's not just you, there are others. Whenever anyone says anything to these people and you it seems you use the old "I'm allowed to have my view".

Alot of stuff I post is propaganda. I never claim it to be true I just post it. People just assume since I post it I think its true, which may or may not be the case. It's up to the individual to believe it or not.

Propaganda isn't true usually. Don't be too offended then when people challenge it and call it uneducated.

Right once again. Democrats and Republicans are going to think the other is uneducated in some cases anyways. I just will have the class not to call someone educated even if I think they are.

Except you've done it to Bush and other prominent Republicans - perhaps you haven't used the word "uneducated".

Well political figures expect such comments. If they called Kerry or Clinton uneducated thats ok. Political figures shape future policy. Members of gc do not and how does it benefit calling them uneducated ? Boosting the "educated" persons ego? One would think if a person was educated they would not care what an uneducated person thought or believed.

You probably would have a better chance of Kerry stopping the FCC than you would with Bush. But either stopping the FCC is unlikely unless it became a majory politcal beneifit for either. From some of his broadcast Howard Stern seems to feel he would have a better chance with Bush out.

I don't understand this forum is under politics, however all of you have stopped discussing issues and are now only bitching about the fact that some one questioned its academic .. maybe you guys should do some research instead of just ranting back and forth about issues you clearly know nothing about.

I agree with many of the statements that the website brought up; for the most part it is all true, exaggerated but true. I do understand the concerns that this is not referenced at all but if you have watched the news or read a paper in the last 4 years you would know that it is based on facts.

I would love to add to an intelligent conversation about politics however this discussion is seriously lacking in the intelligence department.

DeltAlum 04-26-2004 10:22 AM

I'm not a big Bush supporter, but it's really stretching to call the things in the original post "facts." I would rather classify them as "glistening generalities" (a propaganda technique), routed in some (sometimes very small) amounts of truth.

You are surprised that this link is on this site because it is frequented by "people who are college educated" yet you pretty much answer it in the last few sentences, "I do remember when I was in college. I knew so much when I really knew so little."

Moot point.

Anyway, can you verify the contributions of Enron to the Democratic party? Enron did contribute to both the Democrats and Republicans but I'd like to see you verify the "minor fact" that Enron gave more to the democrats over time. (Hint: if we are going "over time" you might want to take into account the contributions that Enron made to the Bush Sr. campaign.)

AlethiaSi 04-26-2004 01:18 PM

sigh.... just so you know... she's a cortland girl- a political science major with one of the highest gpa's in cortland... and she's interning for hillary clinton this summer so i know for a fact that she is not stupid...

try another website:
did you know?
or here's another one thats sure to make you laugh:
michael moore

now.. i would spend some time going through the details.... but i have 3 3,000 word psychology papers to write up so here are some other places to look for information.. knowledge is power people... don't be so closed minded about the issues and just seeing waht you want to see..in psychology this is called group think- or even group loafing- nothing is being done!

i'm not saying that kerry is absolutely fantastic or anything- but we need a change in this country- our economy is going to crap and our troops are risking their lives and our president is lying left and right not to mention the fact that women are losing their rights and nobody is doing anything about it...

but i digress...... though sometimes over dramatized but damn funny is michael moore's book Dude- where's my country really lays things out for you... if your confused still about where bush stands on the issues... try here:
election 2004

i know that whatever i say isn't always well received- and you can call me ignorant- whatever- but the fact of the matter is i'm in a country that isn't very biased about the information- they can't stand tony blair and there are rallies almost every weekend all over london abotu the state of the world and the two superpowers... there is more information out there then you think- and also i think a lot of the information that is available is dramatized because its so outrageous! clinton was practically impeached because lying about his personal life- and now bush and his cabinet are outright lying to us and no one could be bothered to do anything about it...

( one of the things bush lied about was that he said that iraq was connected to iraq... there was no connection and IS no connection between al queda and iraq- saddam hussein and osama bin laden HATED each other because of the invasion of kuwait and their religious differences... why would they join forces in this axis of evil?... they didnt- but bush made it out to be- so that he could have an excuse to invade iraq without public uproar...)

Rudey 04-26-2004 01:23 PM

As to her being smart because of that, well the one eyed man is king in the land of the blind. To me she's still an idiot. Of course if she was ignorant and not arrogant and ignorant, she wouldn't be called stupid.

As for those sources, much of them are lies, much propoghanda and hardly anyone would bring them up.
