46. "Miss MARY MACK MACK MACK, all dressed in BLACK BLACK BLACK" Or recall: Miss marry had a steamboat, the steamboat had a bell, miss marry sat upon it and broke her ...... and all those other favorite hand slap games..... or even better yet at sleep over trying to do "light as a feather" and lift a body up..... or going into the girls bathroom and saying bloody mary and freaking out by the time you hit the third time...... those remnd me of growing p inthe ( 70s) and 80s and evrything on the list above |
i still use the "light as a feather, stiff as a board" mantra to relax and go to sleep.
 |
y'know, A LOT of that list is more from the 90s than the 80s.
i remember a lot of it growing up, and i was all of four in 89. |
Ah... my childhood just flashed before my eyes. LOL
|
It's kind of funny watching young kids now-a-days playing with My Little Pony (which I saw a commercial for today) and Strawberry Shortcake. My roommate and I joke about how they are trying to be like us 80 kids....haha....And yes 82 was a good year.

What, no Lazer Tag?
|
I just showed this to my daughter, who just turned 23. She is going to forward it to her best friend as soon as she stops laughing!
We just moved recently and while packing up stuff out of our attic, we found an envelope with some Garbage Pail kids in it. She has decided to keep it, along with the old set of Strawberry Shortcake sheets we also found. |
I just can't believe how kids these days are taking to our old toys such as strawberry shortcake, carebears, jem, and rainbow bright. i see them come into hot topic and just grab the stuff up! kind of freaky

Baby Boomers: January 1, 1946 - December 31, 1964 Generation X: January 1, 1965 - December 31, 1979 Generation Y: January 1 1980 - December 31, 1999 Here's one site that explains it better: http://users.metro2000.net/~stabbott/genxintro.htm And another: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_X Not leaving the 'Y' generation out either: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_Y |
Wow. Gen Y seems to last almost twice as long as the other two generations. And I don't know about y'all but those born in the early 80s really will have a totally different perspective than those born, say, in the mid 90's on. But then again, someone born in '46 will definitely have a different perspective than one born in '64. Thanks for the links, Alphasigou

slight hijack---On the last link (about Gen Y) they list a girl named "Cecelia Cichan" as the sole survivor of a plane crash. I vaguely remembered a girl in my ab psych class that revealed to us that she had been a sole survivor in a plane crash. On a whim I looked up her name in the UA student directory online. Damn if she wasn't in there! Sometimes following a hunch gets you somewhere, I guess.

I always thought that Gen X ended in '76 and anyone born between January 1 1977-December 31 1980 was sort of in the cusp, since we're old enough to remember some things that X'ers like (namely, early Madonna, 80s sitcoms, etc) and young enough to enjoy (somewhat) the teenybop revival of the late 90s/early 00s.

Anyone remember television freeze tag?

I know I'm only 20, but I still have my Popples, Care Bears, Cabbage Patch dolls, and Pound Puppies- and I do remember most of the stuff on that list. It's kinda creepy that I feel old, even though I'm not.
(I had a NKOTB nightgown and sleeping bag... ugh  ) |
I sent this list to my bf and I guess he was bored at work because he wrote back with some that were left off the list. Thought you all might enjoy/remember these too:
1a. If you wore Micheal Jordans. 1b. You wanted to be like Mike. 2a. If you could recite Ferris Bueller, 2b. the whole movie. 3a. When "The Simpsons" and "In Living Color" where the funniest shows on TV. 3b. You probably wanted to be a fly girl. 4a. Every guy wanted to be Joe Montana. 4b. Or catch a pass from him, preferably in the Superbowl. 5a. You know WWF did not stand for the World Wildlife Foundation. 5b. Hulk Hogan could beat up Mr. T. 6a. Goose was cooler than Maverick, and you still think he's alive. 6b. Iceman is a dick. Slider stinks. And you keep up with foreign relations. 7a. GI Joe vs. The Transformers would be the ultimate. 7b. It still would be the ultimate. 8a. You know what GNR stands for. 8b. You wanted to be in it. 9a. Bo was the best athlete of all time, and could do anything. |
