New Sorority At Clemson!!!

Hey everyone. I was reading the earlier posts and I saw that everyone was discussing who should be the new sorority at Clemson. We narrowed down the potential 10 to 3 and those three were each allowed to come and present. We saw Alpha Omicron Pi, Delta Zeta, and Phi Mu. Then the panhellenic delegates talked it over with their EC and their Pi Chi's and each submitted a vote. After the first vote their was a 4-4 tie with one girl (our girl actually) being the tiebreaker. After another vote it was decided that DELTA ZETA will be coming onto the Clemson campus in the fall. Congrats to them and we are so excited to see them come on in the fall!

Not to be negative, but I am always concerned with adding a chapter to a campus after closing one. While the first few years will be great recruitment wise, I always wonder how it will pan out down the road. I am sure DZ internationals will have a good plan laid out for helping the new chapter with recruiting.

Thats good to hear about their preparation. I think DZ has a strong network to keep chapters revitalized and teaching them how to rush. Our DZ chapter had a bad formal rush a few years ago, but were able to snap bid to quota over the course of a semester.

Will they be taking over a hall eventually?

I know it must have hurt to close down DG. Prior to that chapter (or any others) DG had not closed down a chapter in 15 years. (at least, that is what was presented when they colonized at NCSU)

GOOOO DELTA Zeta!!!!!

sbhill2 07-30-2004 04:47 PM

Good luck DZ!

Not to bring the tone down, but it's hard to imagine that Clemson is bringing a new sorority onto campus only a year after closing a chapter that had been there for so many years.

Welcome to Clemson DZ!
