I'm leaving for the Air Force

I, Terry L. Salmi, do solemly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Folks, this tuesday, I will be reciting that oath, to be given to me by my father, a retired AF LtCol. I will then be flying to San Antonio International Airport where I will be bussed to Lackland AFB to start Basic Training. After 6 and a half weeks of hell, I will graduate and be an Airman First Class (two stripes) in the world's Greatest Air Force.

To read up on what i'm getting myself into, read the following article:
http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/airfo...n/a/afbmt1.htm

It's hard to believe i'm leaving sooo soon!

AlphaSigOU 04-16-2004 08:01 PM

Short-timer! :)

Enjoy your last weekend as a silly-vilian and you best make damned sure you're at the Omaha MEPS at o'dark thirty Tuesday morning! :D (It just so happens it's also the 20th anniversary of my initiation into Alpha Sigma Phi.)

Good luck in Lackland. And don't flunk out of tech school... lest you wind up going back to Lackland for Services school! ;)

<--- former USAF A1c, back in the days when stars were blue for airman ranks (nearly 20 years ago).

docetboy 04-16-2004 08:03 PM

I'm more worried about getting to tech school! Haven't been working out as much as I should of, but oh well.

I'm sure i'll be at MEPS on time...the govt is giving me a free hotel room and two meals, even though my house is closer to MEPS than the hotel!

KillarneyRose 04-16-2004 10:39 PM

Good Luck and God Bless!

Not to worry... them MTI's will be giving you plenty of time to work out!

Once you survive Lackland... where are they shipping you out for tech school? Sheppard or Keesler?

tinydancer 04-17-2004 12:52 PM

No, I was listening to it on the computer. LOL

The only thing I can get away with keeping with my personal stuff is a cellphone...of which they take the battery away from you then the actual phone gets locked up with your personal stuff...
