are you guilty....
of waiting to the last min. to do your taxes???
i did mine two months ago. i cannot believe the number of people that wait unti the last min. |
No, we needed our refund much too badly to wait to the last minute.
|
I am filing my extension as we speak.
|
That's on tomorrow's list of things to do. I have never been this late before.:p
|
I already got my (teeny-weeny) refund checks. :D
|
Thank goodness for CPA's. I let them file for extentions for me.
|
i did mine online. a whole lot better than taking it to the tax office
|
Guilty? No. People who file in the first six weeks are much more likely to be audited than those who file in the last six weeks.
I sent mine in this weekend, phoned in my state taxes today. |
Since I had a lot of home based business deductions to work through, I didn't get ours submitted until last week. Definitely rather be safe than sorry, although it was pretty easy to do them even with the business stuff.
At least they were done and accepted in time, with refunds to boot! |
Im lucky my dad did mine for me cause I hate figuring all that junk out and he is a CPA so its great he does mine..i dont pay him...expect to wash his car and go over for dinner twice a week for a month...I got it made...LOL

We submitted ours last month. No refund, but thank God we didn't have to pay through the nose like last year!
|
My paltry refund is already going for beer money! :D
|
Mine was done last month.
|
I did mine almost 2 months ago..
got my refund... spent my refund (and then some) already. (My mom takes care of them for me, which is a good thing, because otherwise, I might be working on them right now (or say, tomorrow night?.. :p ) |
woo hoo!!! i found out today that my tax refund was directly deposited into my bank account last week. however, becuase of the education credit thing, i only got 1/4 of my taxes back instead of the full refund :(. my parents got the other 3/4 + more $$$ because they used it to claim me on their return.
|
I did mine two months ago.
|
I needed the money so I did mine 2 months ago.
|
Ours are not due till the April 30th.
My parents have so graciously let me give my stuff to their accountant. I should really learn to do them. Mine are not that complicated really. I just don't want to to them. |

LX taxes
I have to tele-file today. I have NO deductions other than the standard/personal exemptions. But I'm still getting some "caysh" (per Jim Rome) back.
:p |
I think we filed ours in late Feb/early March and we received our refund last week.
We're being responsible, married adults and using it to pay off credit cards and then putting the rest in saving--right after we buy a digital camera! |
I have no taxes...because I have no job! The joy of being a college student!
|
Ugh; just wrote out a check for an obscene amount of money and will drop it off at the post office tonight. Nothing like living in Maryland (unofficial state motto: "If you can dream it, we can tax it")
Oh well, someone's gotta pay for the hardwood floors in the waterfront housing project the state just built down in Annapolis! :p |

My taxes goes in the mail tomorrow.

1) The time factor. If you're an auditor and there are only 100 returns on your desk, a larger percentage of them will be audited than if there are 1,000 returns on your desk. 2) The label factor. If you use the nice label that the IRS provides for you with your name, address, etc, on it, there is a code embedded in some of those that will kick out the ones who have already been picked for audit. But you didn't hear it from me! :D |

YES I AM!!!! Haven't even done them yet. Grrr. Oh well, I do it last minute every year.

A little (legal) tax trick?
For those of us past college... maybe WAY past college... and working on funding retirement, there is a little trick that is perfectly legal.
This may not apply to everyone. This scenario assumes the following conditions: 1. you have a traditional IRA 2. can deduct the contributions to the IRA 3. and will be getting a refund. Sounds a little restricted, but it really isn't. You can do your taxes, taking the IRA deduction although you have not actually made the deposit yet. File those taxes early! When the refund comes, you use it to fund the IRA. For me, the additional tax deduction just about pays for the IRA contribution. ETA: Just be SURE to fund the IRA by April 15 !!!! |
I'm fortunate...my dad did mine on Sunday night :) I found out I was getting back like $1065. I came over to my parent's house tonight and my dad told me he got some good news...he got me another $500! So WOOHOO for dad doing my taxes!
I can't wait for the money - BILLS will deminish greatly! |

I mailed mine out today. I had to wait longer because I set up a new IRA last minute and the SEC requires me to mail the annoying broker a certification that allows scrutiny over my investments (fascists). -Rudey |

hahahah thanks! :D |

Doing this with a Roth doesn't really have the same impact. The Roth is not tax deductible. The neat part about doing it with the traditional IRA is that the deduction actually pays for the contribution to the traditional IRA. Make sense? |

Actually if your income is low enough, there is a way to get the government to match your contribution but it's tricky ;) -Rudey |
Not gonna lie, i'm so guilty. I put off taxes till the last second possible.
