Nicknames...

What are some of the most hilarious/ridayumdiculous nicknames that you have heard of?

Did you have a nickname growing up and if so, what was it?

If you had a nickname, do you still answer to it?

Inquiring minds would like to know! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

My cousin's cousin(you understand) is nicknamed StinkyButt. This may have been acceptable when he was an infant and toddler; but the call him that to this day. He is damn near 20 years old. I feel bad for him too. He doesn't even object to it.

Ideal08 07-03-2001 04:20 PM

My nickname isn't funny, at least not to me. My name is Monique, my family calls me Moke. Always has, still do. I love it! It's one of the things that keeps me grounded. Some people thought they were saying "Mo," and we would just laugh about that, like, "Ha, ha, they can't get it right!"

When I was in HS, I was really skinny, my sister used to call me Annie, short for Anorexic. I did NOT like that mess. And you know she brought it up this weekend! She uses it on my other sister, now, lol.

I think the funniest one I've ever heard, this girl I went to college with, one of her childhood nicknames was Waterhead, b/c she had a big head.

I have a little cousin named Stank. I have no earthly idea what the chile's real name is. I don't know if I've ever known his name.

shannieglass 07-03-2001 05:52 PM

Ok..I have a list of them..

My cousin's ex husband..his nickname is Mudd..he is dark, so i guess that is where it comes from..

My given birthname is Too Sweet, I have an aunt who called me Hershey May for years..I hated it..maybe cuz i didnt (and still dont) like her..

In high school..my filipino friends called me Cherry Chum, to this day i dont know why..they also called me Eskimo Princess..lets see what else..Red..Peaches..those are things that I remember..

The following nicknames exist in my good ol' southern family (mind you some of these people's real name I don't know): Shorty, Butch, Lil Man,Tainta,Happy,
i think that is enuf..lol toodles!!

MeezDiscreet 07-03-2001 07:10 PM

we used to call my neighbor's little boy rat, because, well, he looked like a lil rat. now, his name is lil man

my dad has a friend who they've been calling beast since college. they call him that because, well, the man is ugly.

my dad has pointed ears so his old college buddies call him wolf.

when i was a baby, i used to follow my older sister around all the time (i learned to walk at 9 mos. trying to keep up with her). so, my dad started calling me boo boo after yogi bear's sidekick. he still calls me that to this day. if he were to call me by my real name, it wouldn't sound right.

my little brother has no table manners. if he is eating and food is hanging out of his mouth, he will tilt his head back and flip the food in his mouth like a dang dinosaur, so they call him t-rex.

my first name is melody, so i'm also called mel, mellydelicatessan (my bestfriend and her brother call me that and i have no idea why http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif ), mel-mel, and because i was known for being "regular" my freshman year and always in the bathroom, they called me smelly mel http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I always tell my students this on the first day of school so that they can appreciate the impact of what they do in high school/college will have on them for the rest of their lives.

When I was in kindergarten, there was a boy in my class that sniffed glue, ate crayons and ate his boogers. His name was David but we all called him Booger Nose David. He always had boogers in his nose to eat. Anyway, I left that school after second grade and never saw David again. Years later, when I was home on break from college I was on the train. Some guy starts calling my name. I turn around and this guy is walking towards me with a big ol kool-ade smile on his face. He's like, "Wow! I haven't seem you in almost 20 years!" I'm looking at him smiling but I still don't recognize his face. So, I'm staring and staring. Then I SHOUT, "OH MY GOD! Booger Nose David!!!" I was sooooooo embarrassed. His smile just deflated. And, he was FINE!! Damn...

My sister and my friends used to call me Rain Drop Head because they said my face is shaped like an upside down rain drop. They still call me that whenever our family gets together. The bigger the crowd, the more they say it to piss me off.

My sister calls me, Sister. It's so funny because when people meet her for the first time they always ask me why she does that. I love that nickname because it's not just her saying it, but how she says it. It reminds me of how attached I was to her growing up. I still am.

Anyway, this is a book...

ZChi4Life 07-03-2001 09:22 PM

I don't think I have any funny nicknames in my family, but most of us have them. Let's see...
My name is Tracey and everyone calls me Tray. My family refuses to say Tray, so they just say Trace.
I have 3 sisters. One of my sister's (RIP) nickname was Blue. I think my mom made it up, but I don't know why/how she derived at that name.
My dad's childhood nickname was Pookie and EVERYONE still calls him that!
My mom's name is Mary Catherine and whenever we visit her family in Lousiana (yeah, I mispelled that on purpose), everyone calls her Mary Catherine...not Mary, but Mary Catherine. Must be a southern thing.
Oh and one of my nephew's name is Kalen. However, my dad didn't like it (he thought it was too feminine), so he nicknamed him Jake. LOL! For a while, my nephew thought that Jake was his real name! He'd actually tell people he met that was his name and my sister would have to correct him! lol

Miss1908 07-03-2001 09:40 PM

LOL, this topic is funny.

Well, when I was little, my uncle used to call me "Boom Boom" and my grandfather called me "Chicken"(still does). To this day, I have no idea why either of the names started.

When I was in elementary, there was a boy named London. We used to call him "London Bridges" and sing "London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down..." when ever he came around. Hahahahahaha, still make me laugh to think about it.

Alias_01 07-03-2001 10:18 PM

My dad calls me and my brother booger rat and booger worm..I wont tell you which one I am.
Also this year people started calling me Grimace..you know Ronald McDonald's purple friend..I dont know why? LOL :-)

InquiringMind 07-03-2001 10:59 PM

The only nickname I remember being called as a kid was Big Red by one of my cousins. I was a little chubby kid. However, my family has its share of nicknames. Some people can't even explain how they got them, or don't want to tell.

Turkey- an uncle; he walks like a turkey
Ding- a deceased uncle; http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/confused.gif
Shorts- a cousin; she was on the short kid
Stretch- my sister; she's not even tall!!!
Dooby- a cousin; her real name is Dana so go figure!

My nickname was Bambi growing up because of my brown eyes.
My cousin's nickname was "cat daddy" and when Tina Turner's song Square Biz came out we thought we'd have to kill him (I love you too Cat Daddy but don't let that go to your head)
The funniest nickname I've heard is boogey fat- I don't exactly know what it means.

exquizit 07-05-2001 12:50 AM

My mom calls me NOODIE http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gifand BOOBIE http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I feel like sayin...."I'm a grown azz woman dawg" LMAO http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif (secretly I love the endearment).

My sister and other family members call me GOAT because for a long time I was the "kid" of the family...That's not cute! lol

pointNclick 07-05-2001 10:04 AM

Well I have heard of some funny nicknames (e.g. Dodo, Lil Pee). Mine aren't that bad.

My pet name (which is a term of endearment) is "sweet pea", which was given to me by my mommy. She is the only one that uses that name. My nickname (given to me by friends back in h.s.) is "khandi", obviously with a twist to incorporate letters from my own name. I was nicknamed such because all I did was eat candy, esp. the swedish fish (which I could get for a penny a piece around my way) and swedish berries AND because I played that Cameo song "Candy" all the time. So much so that I made a cassette tape with that one song-- for 90 minutes straight. LOL, I got some issues ya'll. My grannie's name for me since I was a child (and one which she call me till this day) is "pussy", short for pussycat. Lawd, she used to take me grocery shopping with her and when she could not find me she would holla out in the middle of the store, "Pussy, come here pussy. Go get momma that loaf of bread." Need I say more?!

TotallyBlessed 07-05-2001 11:40 AM

My first nickname was Boo, when my mother would comb my hair into two long braids my brother would call me Rabbit...long story short I'm now known as Boo Rabbit!

jali0004 07-05-2001 01:42 PM

My mother wanted to name me Nadia, after Nadia Comeneechie (sp??), the gymnyst. But one of her cousins who was born a month before me, anmed her daughter Nadia. So, my name became Renada (long story), but my family calls me "Nada Neechie", "Nada" just "Neech". I used to hate this name, but now, if someone in my family calls me Renada, I know something is wrong! My bf started calling me "Neechie", so now it really is a term of endearment!!

My aunt, who is my mom's youngest sister, is called "Stink", because when she was a little girl she would eat butter out of the trash can...lol

I too am a mother who is guilty of bestowing silly nicknames on a poor defenseless child...
*I call my son "Tunkin" -- it started out as Pumpkin and got all twisted.
*My infamous niece is "Ny-Pie" (dunno why)
*My man's family calls him "Poo"
*His little sister is "Boo-Boo"
*Incidently, my family calls me Poohbear, and "Poo" for short...

I am also referred to as the following:
MacGyver (sp?)
Snoopy
"Head" ('cuz I have a big Cranium http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif )
Snoop Shop
Lil P.I.
Prowl
Ms. Questionaire
Secrets
Precious
and my newest nickname around the office and with friends is "Bia Bia" (i use it so much now, instead of "byatch")

And I answer to all of 'em (usually)
