Delta Delta Delta Coming to Lake Forest

Delta Delta Delta recently announced:

TRI DELTA TO JOIN LAKE FOREST CAMPUS

ARLINGTON, Texas -- April 2, 2004 -- Delta Delta Delta will host its 135th active chapter at Lake Forest College, a liberal arts college in Lake Forest, Illinois. A local sorority, Gamma Rho Delta, will affiliate with Tri Delta to become the Epsilon Beta Chapter.

Founded in 1983, the local group has a current membership of 35 women. As Gamma Rho Delta, the women are involved in many campus organizations, including student government, political groups and cultural interest groups. Because the mission of Gamma Rho Delta is similar to the Purpose of Tri Delta, combining the efforts of the two groups will be mutually beneficial.

Tri Delta will join Alpha Phi and therefore become the second National Panehellenic Conference organization to establish at Lake Forest. Tri Delta Membership Director Jackye Brown Clark, Texas/Arlington, says Tri Delta is proud to join the campus and eager to welcome Gamma Rho Delta to the Fraternity.

"We are so pleased to have the opportunity to play a role in the expansion of the Greek community at Lake Forest College, and we welcome the women of Gamma Rho Delta to Tri Delta membership."

The formal pledging ceremony for Epsilon Beta is scheduled for April 18, 2004 at the Glen Rowan House. A welcome reception will follow.

WCUgirl 04-05-2004 03:08 PM

Congratulations to Tri-Delta!!! I've said it before, but I'll say it again...I LOVE hearing about expansion!!!!

valkyrie 04-05-2004 03:18 PM

Congratulations to Tri-Delta, but there's not an Alpha Phi chapter at Lake Forest -- I don't know if there used to be one.

Here's a list of the greek organizations at Lake Forest.

Alpha Phi has recently returned to Lake Forest.

There also used to be an Alpha Xi Delta chapter there. One of the members of my alumnae association is an initiate from Lake Forest.

This may be a weird question...but when a CPH is just getting off the ground, do they ever need advisors from other chapters?

tinydancer 04-05-2004 11:32 PM

Congratulations to the newest Tri-Delta chapter!:)

I'm not sure about other GLOs, but a new Tri Delta chapter has a field consultant with them for their first semester. DolphinChicaDDD is a founding member of a Tri Delta chapter, she might have better info.

Hey Tri Delts - since we have 2 new chapters for the fall, do you think they will choose more FCs than usual?

If I understand your question correctly, yes, sometimes alumnae from NPCs not represented on that campus will advise the CPH. I know for a fact that this is happening (with great results) at Santa Clara.

I don't know...that is a good question. I would maybe assume so, but maybe not if the area has a large number of active and willing alumni.

Congratulations to Lake Forest College and DDD!!!!

coming from Lake Forest

Yep,

We are most def. getting the Tri-Delts this upcoming weekend, upon their initiation. Involved with one of the national sororities on campus (ours, Alpha Kappa Alpha was the only one at LFC at the time), I knew the move to integrate the locals into nationals has been an ongoing and tedious process (and knowing some of the girls in Gamma Rho, the integrating chapter, it was somewhat of a meticulous ordeal), but I am glad that the Tri Delts are coming to campus! :D

And yes, Alpha Phi has recharted their chapter at Lake Forest. I believe they were deactivated (?) sometime in the 70's/80's, but they experienced renewal in the fall of 2003. They have blossomed as the "babies" (newest/re-newest (?) sorority introduced to Lake Forest before the Tri-Delts), and have been involved in numerous projects on and off campus. Kudos to Lake Forest College Greek Life!

Do you mean the paid greek life staff, or volunteers? I wouldn't mind helping out/answering questions for these girls, and it may be nice to have someone who wouldn't have any preferences.

At Santa Clara (where GLOs are unrecognized by the university), the Panhellenic Adviser is a volunteer alumna of another NPC group.

Alpha Phi's Gamma Phi chapter left campus in 1961 when all other NPC groups left campus.

Right now its still a colony for Alpha Phi. I haven't met then group but I hear they are lovely women. Since the colony is so close to our Executive Office they get lots of support and attention!

As we are having a local trying to affiliate w/NPC we have a state advisor for CPH. She would work with us, when this local has permission for extension from the College, and then I guess they would bring in resources from probably Whitewater, Madison and Rockford to help out. But NPC does assign an advisor, or that is how we understood it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

ajuhdg 04-21-2004 06:23 AM

First, here's a little history from the Gamma Phi Omega web site:

In the late 1930s, the Greek organizations left the campus of Lake Forest College. It wasn't until 1988, when a group of young women wanted to organize a third sorority based on the ideals and principles of one of the sororities earlier housed at the College- Gamma Phi Beta.

Now, here's the announcement from the Delta Gamma web site!

The Council of Delta Gamma has voted to accept the invitation to colonize a chapter at Lake Forest College. Lake Forest College is in Lake Forest, IL, outside Chicago. Delta Gamma will affiliate with the local sorority of its choice, Gamma Phi Omega, in late
April. Delta Delta Delta and Alpha Phi are also colonizing and will join Delta Gamma in establishing a Panhellenic system.

YEAH, DG, DDD, and Alpha Phi!!!!

YAY!

Congrats to dee gee, tri delt & a phi! :)

enigma_AKA 04-25-2004 11:20 PM

so it goes...

just an FYI, to all those concerned

Delta Gamma has officially, as of this evening, (25 April 2005) integrated with one of the local sororities, Gamma Phi, on campus to become national, as part of a trend the Director of Greek Life has initiated (they are second only to the newly integrated Tri Delta chapter to "cross over", if you will, to become nationally recognized GLO's). I am excited about working with the new groups (although I have no problem with locals, it's nice to work with NPC groups and to NOT be the only nationally recognized sorority on campus :o ...which causes more problems than people care to recognize! ).

Just another note:

Y'all are really on your p's and q's as far as being informed. I read an earlier post where someone actually went through the school's listing (albeit obselete) listing of our Greek Life!!! Wow  , to say the least. But it shows that you all are dilegent and concerned about the future of your respective sororities and Greek Life overall. This is great to know!!! And I hope to be just as informed and "pumped up" if you will, about my sorority (I am a neo as of this spring) and future Greeks.

Okay! This post is lengthy enough, but I hope that it's informative, that you all keep up the good work and that you continue to perpetuate Greek Life.
