Paid Exile

Would you accept $10,000,000 to leave the country in two hours and NEVER set foot in it again?

mu_agd 04-04-2004 09:49 PM

would i have a choice on where to go or would it be decided for me?

PhiPsiRuss 04-04-2004 09:52 PM

Absolutely not. There is no amount of money that could make me do that.

Re: Paid Exile

You could decide where you wanna go.

KillarneyRose 04-04-2004 10:56 PM

Nope, no way. My country and my citizenship are precious to me and no amount of money is worth giving them up.

04-04-2004 11:08 PM

The only terms are:

You never set foot in your home country again.

Maybe the word exile is messing with y'all.

You didn't commit a crime or an act of treason. Someone with some deep pockets just offers you $10, 000, 000 to leave and NEVER come back.

kddani 04-04-2004 11:13 PM

well if i was leaving the country... they couldn't charge me taxes on that 10 mill. Could live just across the border in Canada, lol. Or somewhere fun....

could be tempting :) but at the age of 23, might need more than 10 mill

Exactly, I'd be all up in Toronto and Ontario and Vancouver. Flying all my family and friends up for the weekend. Better yet might start a business with a few million and move my friends up there.

ERRR, Toronto's part of Ontario. Ontario is a province, Toronto and Vancouver are cities.

aephi alum 04-04-2004 11:54 PM

I'd move to the UK... I can learn to drive on the wrong side of the road for that kind of dough ;)

FAB*SpiceySpice 04-04-2004 11:58 PM

I would do it in a heartbeat if I could be exiled to somewhere like Italy or something. Also, I'd love to just live on a beach for the rest of my life, so maybe Tahiti would be fun too... :)

Rudey 04-05-2004 01:05 AM

For 10 million, I'd be French and oppose the Iraq war.

--For 20 million, I'd vote for Kerry.

chideltjen 04-05-2004 01:27 AM

Well that money would be gone in a heartbeat with all of my medical/diabetic supplies necessary. I don't know what health insurance is like in other countries, but I think I will stick it out here for a while.

Absolutely, as long as I could take my cats.

TigerLilly 04-05-2004 04:39 AM

Totally. Pay me to live somewhere that I already live (Germany)? Why not?

You go to a country with free national health care and you're set! Canada, the UK, Australia, etc...

mmcat 04-05-2004 07:11 AM

no
you couldn't pay me enough.

mu_agd 04-05-2004 07:27 AM

i've always said i want to move back to london after going to school there, so this could be my chance. or maybe i'd go to grand cayman. yeah, i'd definitely consider it.

decadence 04-05-2004 07:29 AM

Ooh I never knew you went to school in London mu_agd!! :)

For ten million (I'd want it in pounds not dollars :p) would I do it? Hell yeah!

i did a summer at regent's college through my school.

Lady Pi Phi 04-05-2004 09:38 AM

I would move to the UK.

DeltAlum 04-05-2004 10:13 AM

As long as there were no other committments -- like having kids visit, doing anything against the country, travel to other places, etc. -- Hello London!

At my age I'd do it.

mullet81 04-05-2004 10:24 AM

i'd do it... then i'd have the money and the time to travel the world like i want to :)

I'm SURE i would long for home though... so I would adopt barbados as my new home :D

GeekyPenguin 04-05-2004 10:43 AM

I'd do it, then use the money to off the person and come back. :p

Dionysus 04-05-2004 10:48 AM

If my family can come.

JennRN 04-05-2004 11:33 AM

I'd pack my bags for Italy so fast your head would spin.

Well crap... sign me out to Australia. :D

FeeFee 04-05-2004 04:07 PM

If I can bring my peeps with me and they receive some funding as well, I'll gladly hold up the peace sign and leave.

GPhiLlama 04-05-2004 05:36 PM

10 million and anywhere? London, here I come! Yay for trying to start an acting career with money!

ztabchbum 04-05-2004 06:22 PM

Yes and I don't have a single doubt about that decision. I would pack up my pets and my boyfriend and go sit on an island sipping drinks for the rest of my life.
