Favorite Brand of Clothing

What's everybody's favorite brands of clothing?

For jeans I like Polo or DKNY jeans
For casual clothes I love Arden B. and Bebe
For work, a business casual office, Banana Republic and J. Crew are a must

How about your favorite stores?

My all-time favorite store is Loehmann's

showstopper_1908 07-04-2001 02:38 AM

Jeans: Guess
Shoes: Nine West
Anything Else: Express

I've been working at Abercrombie and Fitch for so long my entire wardrobe became totally surfer girl/preppy looking, but we're about to change all of that http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Chi_ZETABBW 07-04-2001 09:41 AM

I guess this is 1 of those age biased things again, LOL.
At 36, as long as they fit well, and long lasting. I have no favorite designers. These people have money, I don't! I'm too busy spending money on mortgage, car note, insurance, food, to worry about who's name is stamped across my AZZ!
Don't get me wrong, back in the day, when I had far less responsibility, young, making much money, I only bought designer. I'm a woman with 12 Coach purses(what a waste),fur coats, etc.

DreamfulOne 07-04-2001 10:40 AM

Currently in my closet:

Lerners
Old Navy
Gap
BeBe
Dress Barn (for my suits)

I want to own my own fashion consulting firm and personal shopping service so I try and keep up with what's popular. Along the way I have created a myriad of favorites. Each one of them does something different for me. As long as it's not logo wear. BLECH!

Oh my goodness, I started this topic and totally forgot my two favorite things: shoes and purses

I believe that if you wear good shoes and carry good bags, then you can get away with inexpensive clothing and still look like you just stepped off of a runway.

Shoes:

Jimmy Choo
Manolo Blahnik
Chanel
Stuart Weitzman
(i'm barely five feet, so I always wear very high stilletos)

Purses:

Kate Spade
Fendi
Gucci
Prada
Louis Vuitton
Christian Dior

Convinced 07-05-2001 12:13 AM

Clothes:
Jones New York
DKNY
Ralph Lauren

Shoes:
Nine West

Purses:
I love Coach, but right now I'm into these really cute "no-name" straw and cloth purses.

InquiringMind 07-05-2001 10:43 AM

Casual:
Guess, Baby Phat (I think that's my new signature line), Express, Azzure', Parasuco, Iceberg, Lady Enyce, D&G, DKNY, Ecko, Girbaud, and bebe

Business:
Jones New York, Liz Claiborne, Limited, J. Crew and Banana Republic

Shoes:
Nine West, Steve Madden, Nike (thanks to the 30% LFL/FL/Champs employee discount), Candies, Via Spiga, bebe, Enzo Angiolini

Purses:
Guess, Coach, and Nine West

Favorite Stores:
Nine West, Express, Lerner, Goldsmith's, Parisian, any outlet, and the "hip-hop/urban" stores

By the way--Poplife, can I have YOUR job?

RAYZON 07-05-2001 01:28 PM

My personal favorite is Casual Corner(but so is my 40% discount) for the corporate world. Then Victorias Secret, the store and catalogue, Jones New York or Anne Klein. GAP and Old Navy for play.

With shoes ENZO or Nine West...as for purses, Kenneth Cole, Nine West, Liz Claiborne or Gucci.

Eyewear.....I wear glasses on a daily so they have to be top notch. So, I go with Fendi, DKNY, Gucci or Jeffrey Bean. Since I need prescription sun glasses the above designers are used also.

shannieglass 07-05-2001 01:41 PM

Well..I'm still in those B.C.S (broke college student days)..but I'm always a divine diva..so big ups to my ultimate store LANE BRYANT..all my fellow plus-sized pretty girls know about LB.. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
as for shoes(which I am a slave to shopping for)..I go for a variety..DKNY, Nine West, Mootsie Tootsies, Steve Madden, Bandolino, Enzo Angolini..the list goes on..

Purses(something else I go crazy for):
KENNETH COLE REIGNS SUPREME!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Kate Spade

Sunglasses:
Gucci

Eyeglasses:
Guess
Polo

dog dog bang bang 07-06-2001 12:53 AM

My favorite are

Tough Dud Jeans
Pumas
Izod
Thrift store suits
That's only a few.........

kitten03 07-06-2001 01:29 PM

I'mma bring it down a notch. Mo power to the high fashioned folks in here but as for me.

I like Chez Target! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Nice comfortable clothes and such.

Other stuff: Express, Old Navy, Gap, Thrift Stores and Yard Sales http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Underclothes: I gotta go with VS. I got the card. It's kinda nice to have.

Question: is the card really worth it?

Shoes: Nine West, New Balance

Diamond007 07-06-2001 09:59 PM

This is funny to me. When I was going up I hated the fact that my mother didn't buy designer clothing for me. My aunt did! I would get so mad. Especially when pinstripe Lees and Aigner were HOT!!!! Shoot now I am not as bad as my mother but I buy nothing designer for myself.. I love Lerners of New York but I buy designer clothes for my children now I know names for them I frequent Belks for Osh Kosh and Gap Kids!! I will splurge when they get older and my income increases... Hey! I don't buy NO Name No Brand Food like my MOTHER!!!!!

The VS card is not worth it!!! It will only get you in trouble (which can be good or bad if you know what I mean). Trust me on this--I know. I had a gold card, but I paid it off and closed the account. Now I hate shopping there b/c I don't have my card and I actually look at the prices now.....

Now, Targe' (b.k.a. Target) is THE store. I will admit that I'm not "ghetto-fantabulous" all the time. I'm a B.A.C.S. too, but I do treat myself and my boyfriend spoils me too. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Riley 07-07-2001 12:31 AM

Well I guess you can say we have some high-rollers in here! ;D

I definately agree with exquizit:

Can I just say....ANYTHING THAT'S HIGH QUALITY with LOW LOW PRICES!!!! LOL
You guys know I have Fashion high Priced taste, but I'm smart enough to know that I can't always afford it

But in addittion to that:

Regular clothes:
Aeropostal
Old Navy
Lerners

Shoes:
Nine West ( Ilove their shoes! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif )

If I buy suits it is from Paul Harris.

As far as clothes, I'm not a big designer wearer. If it's cute and it looks cute on me, and it's not CRAZY expensive, I'll buy it.

As far as shoes, if they are being worn on a regular basis, they can't be cheap (read: cheaply made). Cheap shoes will JACK UP YOUR FEET! I will buy cheaper shoes that are for novelty wear, like I only have one or two outfits to match them. If I had to choose a favorite brand, I guess it'd be Nine West.

Purses: Dooney and Burke is my fave, followed closely by Coach. I like the fact that I have a lifetime guarantee on these purses. To me, that makes them worth the money that I pay for them. Convinced, I am also diggin' the little cloth purses that I can swing over my shoulder.

Exquizit, girl, I feel you on high quality, low prices!! I hardly buy anything that's not on sale. Outlet malls are my fave. I will even frequent a thrift store, if I can find a good one.

Great topic

I absolutely love shopping, with my pocket, sometimes it's window shopping... I buy my business suits from Hechts and Dillards.. I look for style, regardless of the designer... I don't have too many casual clothes. I have a few pairs of jeans, but I'm not a big jeans wearer... I love shoes..DSW shoe warehouse is becoming my new "hot spot".. I love Nine West, Aigner, Enzo, Via Spiga, Franco Sarto, and Kenneth Cole(loafers).. As for bags, I will wear the same Black Coach or Gucci bag for a while, sometimes I'll wear the Louie, but I'm not a real bag fan... I do love belts to match with shoes, and I normally buy belts from TJ Maxx or Marshalls..

My normal style is same color shirt and slacks, with a funky belt and shoes to match the belt with simple gold studs or hoop earrings... that's me!!

Swamp Thang 04-24-2002 02:36 PM

Not to get off of the subject but....Does anyone know what the letters in GAP stand for?

jazziballerina 04-24-2002 07:09 PM

skeeliteful 04-25-2002 05:41 PM

For Clothes: The Limited (employee discount helps ALOT), Burdines, GAP, Ann Taylor (only when there is a sale), Target (don't sleep on the Mossimo line ;) ), TJ Maxx, Marshall's...I've tried the thrift stores but I can never find anything that I see that I just gotta have. But I'm always at the outlet mall in orlando at least 3-4 times a month

Shoes: it's all about Nine West. I'm getting into Steve Madden and BCBG. I also go to Rack Room to see if they have the shoes at a cheaper price.

Handbags: My utter weakness...as long as it's cute.

I have expensive taste but I know how to shop within my means. I can't understand how some people will spend an ENITRE paycheck just to get a Coach purse. Call me cheap if you want but my money has to stretch.

I love Burdines. I miss it so much...I need to be back in Florida. HC nobody where I live now knows about or has ever heard of Burdines? I am always , but then again Burdines is the Florida store.

Aside from Burdines, I like:

Express
Lerner
Sephora
Old Navy
Aeropostale
