OH LAWD! Throwin' bows or maybe not...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I found myself in a situation today that I have never experienced. My line/crossing jacket (whatever you want to call it) was lying delicately on across a chair awaiting a warm body to snuggle up to...mine of course. Then, it happened. A new neighbor of mine decided that today would be the day she'd come over and talk my ear off. So, she walks in and plops herself ON MY JACKET! Booty all over letters!!! Now, I have a couch but she HAD to have the chair, right? My life went to slow motion and it sounded like I was in a tunnel. This horrible cry started in my chest and when it finally came out, I said "GET UP!" I really didn't mean to sound so vicious, and, like I said, it caught me by surprise. I snatched up my jacket and put it on to save it from any more attacks of the booty. Ok, maybe I exaggerated the scene a little, but my description is what it FELT like to me. Anyone else ever had problems like this? How did you deal? |
IMO, you were right to make her get up...we dont put our letters on our behinds so we rightfully should expect others not to put their behinds on our letters
However, I am lmao at the scream because I could picture myself doing the exact same thing even if the person had no idea what they were doing...poor child :p |
OMG... not tunnel vision. :D
We don't have line/crossing jackets in A Phi, but I know how you feel -- because that's how I feel whenever I see actives of any sorority who wear letters across their butts. SO Tacky. |
they are called cheer shorts, our pledges wanted to wear it (with no letters, just words) i was like *cough* no....
|
Soror, I know how you feel! I flip out when people try to touch my letters. Do you have to touch them? Does that help you see how pretty they are? You can see the the Lavendar and Carolina Blue from far distances so why do you need to touch them?
Fingers have oil and germs, and there is no reason that should get on my jacket, t-shirt, sweatshirt, etc. I don't even touch them.....call me neurotic but, I can't help it.....:D |
This is what I love about Greekdom, so many diverse believes. I personally wouldn't care less if somebody touches the letters. Now, the crest, that is a different stories. But then you have other chapters which are more stringent on who get to wear it and some won't let anybody except brothers touch the letters. A sociologist could easily write a PhD dissertation on the various customs of letters alone.

Letters on the ass is just wrong, on so many levels!

When I recently saw a pair of thong underwear with sorority letters on the back in rhinestones, I thought I would throw up...please folks, common sense! :D
|
THONG UNDERWEAR WITH LETTERS ON IT??!!:eek:
ew.... I draw the line at that. |
Yesss, I have seen those on Ebay. There are just some places that my letters don't need to go. *smh*

Yeah, I think you did OVER-REACT! There are some people that just don't know better...especially if it's an ACCIDENT. It's up to us as greeks to inform them about these unwritten rules we have about our letters. ;)

I can just picture the incident in slow-motion...
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" :D I'm sorry that girl sat on your letters. Even if she had no idea that this was a sign of disrespect, she should've had manners enough to know you don't put your behind on someone's personal property in general!! I would hate when people would come up to me and try to tug at my jacket and say "lemme see." Ugghh! Or even worse, "can I try that on?" As an active, for some reason it seemed like the guys were more interested in our letters. They would always joke and say that they were going to put them on and run around campus with them if they got the chance. Now how silly would that be?! |
YOU DID NOT OVER React
I remember when I was an active....I would not even let my EX-girlfriend (6yrs.) at the time wear my shirts with the letters on it. For the months following my initiation into the fraternity I would not even throw my shirts with the letters in the wash/dryer with other cloths that weren't Phi Tau. I was very weird when it came to my letter's.
-Heath F&AM(PHA, Cedars #64) Phi Kappa Tau *Now a days I will wash my shirts w/letters with other cloths. |

Yeah umm...no there is nothing wrong with any of you.

I do not think you over reacted. First and foremost...if you did not work to earn these letters, you do not need to even touch these letters. Well I take that back...you can pass me my jacket...but don't hold on to it too long LOL.
Secondly...if I come to your house...I don't care if it's a dirty towel, a sock, a bathrobe, a piece of paper, common sense tells you not to sit there or to move it before you sit there. Thirdly...you just don't do that. My roommate is in DST and PBL...I dont even drink out of her cups with her letters on it. I don't care if that is the last clean cup in the house and we don't have any more dish detergent to wash another glass...I will go thirsty before I put my lips on some one else's letters...     Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhew I feel like I vented... Rubbing ears Woosa:eek: |
My jacket goes on a hanger in the closet when not in use.
Problem solved. |

That is all |
I have a story to share along the lines of this.
We were having a bake sale out in the common area outside the student union and I had taken my visor off. This visor has embroidered letters on the right hand side. Some friends come up and buy some baked goods, then just hang out. One of the guys decided to try on my visor. I looked over to him and said, "Why are you wearing my visor with my letters on it?" He responds, "Cause it was there." Me, "You need to take that off, please and thank you." The most amusing thing was that he's in a fraternity but apparently didn't realize my letters were on the visor. I realized that I was a bit curt with him then apologized about it but kept my stance that those are MY letters and he didn't need to be wearing them. |
