NEW SISTERS/GC-ers REPORT HERE FIRST!

Glad to have you! Would like to extend a warm welcome to the online sisterhood of the Sigma Kappa Forum. In order to play nice and interact intelligently, it is important to know each other. All new members to the board MUST post here first! This will be modified in the near future.

For the newer members that don't know us, older ladies, please re-post any pertinant info about yourself.

_Lisa_ 03-31-2004 02:40 PM

I'm Lisa, an alumna of Theta Rho in Lexington, KY (University of Kentucky). Been an alum since 2001, oddly enough, the same year I initiated. I left UK to go to LCC (Lexington Community College) which, of course, doesn't have a Greek system. I still do things with Theta Rho-going to initiations or having dinner at the house on Monday nights. Lately I haven't been able to be as active as I'd like so now I'm looking to join one our local Alumnae organizations (if I can ever get them to email me back :()!

If you want to IM me try crzychx7 or lharper136. If I'm not busy at either screen name I'll be glad to talk and get to know you all more!

BaylorBean 04-01-2004 12:14 AM

Howdy everyone! My name is Colleen and I am an alumna from the Delta Theta chapter at Truman State University (Its in Missouri). I graduated back in May 2002 (wow almost 2 years ago, scary). Currently I am in Houston, TX getting my PhD in genetics. Sadly though there are no collegiate chapters to get involved with but there is an awesome Alumnae chapter which I am trying to be very involved in. I just was nominated to be the Newsletter/webmaster for the chapter (very excited to be somewhat active again).

My IM name Ctbean98 I am on every so often. Feel free to say hi if you catch me on!

SigKapSmurf 04-01-2004 06:24 PM

I'm Jen, a freshmen member from Zeta Iota at Elmhurst College in IL. I'm an elmentary education major and sisterhood co-chair for my chapter. I love being part of Sigma Kappa, I was just iniated in Febuary of this year.

IM me at PinkSmrf03. I'm around sometimes if I'm not in class or with my sisters somewhere.

Old Snakey K 04-22-2004 08:58 AM

Just call me Sissey, and as my user name suggests, I am an old member (over 25 but not quite 50). I am originally from the midwest and now living in a Southern state. The great thing about moving around, is you can always find a Sigma Kappa !!

One of my hobbies is to visit University/College Bookstores and check out the Sigma Kappa section. What can I say.. I love to shop !!:D

My Im name is snakeysissey.

Thank you!

Smile79335 05-02-2004 09:50 PM

Heya

Hey Girls,

Just randomly came across this site...I'm an incoming Junior at the University of Kansas (Xi)...I'm the house manager and it's a LOT of work but someone has to do it! :-)

I'm incredibly excited about rush this year because EK has had one of the strongest recruitments on campus the past 2 years and this year we're just gonna blow everyone's mind away :-)

CASIGKAP 07-28-2004 11:54 AM

Ha-Ha! I've been on these boards for a while but never bothered to introduce myself so I'll do that now for the newbies & oldies.

I'm Bebe (nickname). I'm an active member of the Gamma Theta chapter at Cal State Long Beach. I'm now a senior (finally!) and am trying to decide if I should go alum in the fall or have one last spring. I'm leaning towards spring but you never know what's gonna happen.

AZSigKap 07-28-2004 12:52 PM

Hello Everyone!

I will be a junior in the fall at the University of Arizona-Zeta Omicron chapter. I lived in last year in what is now our old house and will be living in again this coming year in our brand new house!!! I was in the new house yesterday and it is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I am soooooooo excited about this coming school year-everything should be awesome!

seraphimsprite 07-28-2004 02:52 PM

I think I posted in another "introduce yourself" thread, but not this one.

Anyway, I'm Ali, from the Alpha Phi chapter at the University of Oregon. (sadly, now dormant.) I graduated in 2001 and promptly moved to the east coast where I now spend way too much time thinking about politics.

SweetfaceSigmaK 07-30-2004 03:30 AM

Hello,
I'm Say (it's my nickname), and i'm going into my 2nd year as a member of Sigma Kappa's Gamma Theta Chapter at CSULB. I'm currently VPAR on our EC. It's super fun...and I love all of my sisters. Yay for Sigma K!
Im me @ BellaStarlette if u wanna say hI!

Love in Sigma:)

NoCalSK 08-07-2004 06:53 PM

Hi there,
This is my first time ever using a message board, so I will take all the help I can get. If I am doing something wrong, let me know. Yes, I am an alumna in my thirties (time flies) and I graduated from CSU, Chico. Am I too old???

How do I add the cool fonts to my signature?

CASIGKAP 08-07-2004 11:46 PM

You're definitely not too old. If you want to add the cool signatures, go to edit your profile & have from there. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

SigkapAlumWSU 08-09-2004 03:23 AM

I just got back from a weekend in San Francisco, and wow! I got to do the whole tourist thing and go see the Golden Gate Bridge (now see is a relative term, it was so foggy, you could cut it!), Fisherman's Wharf and Lombard Street.

I was down with my man to visit his family and celebrate his G-ma's birthday, so this was my first chance to meet some of them. I think I made a great impression, and if I didn't, at least we all had a few drinks together! ;)

All in all, besides the hours in the airport for flights and layovers, a great way to spend the weekend!

Kallima 08-17-2004 10:46 PM

New here

Hey everyone... My name is Erynne. I just joined GC. I've been reading for a few days, but had problems getting axcess to the site...
Anyway...
I joined the Theta Mu chapter at UNCC in the fall of 2002. I was a junior. I graduated this past May and am now an alumnae.
While I was an active member I was VPAR for a semester...
I still live in Charlotte... I am taking classes to get a teaching license and eventually a Masters of Arts in Teaching...
As far as my years at school go, being a Sigma Kappa definately helped me out, but I had a boyfriend at the time who didn't care for my sisters at all. Because of him I feel I never got a chance to know my sisters as well as I could have. Now, eventhough I am still right down the street, I don't feel I can ever reconnect with them. I love them as my sisters and I love the sorority, but everyone is in a different place from me. My hope is that I can find the bond I'm missing here with you all.

Thats my story... My AIM is Kallima04 and I also have a live journal with the same name... if you want to add me I will add you back...

I have a cold right now and really need to go to bed, otherwise I would write more... I can talk a lot, but for now I will spare you.
Hope to talk more soon
LISK
Erynne

Hey All!
My name's Melanie and I'm a Super Senior from the Phi chapter (URI). I pledged as a sophomore, but luckily I'm still getting my 4 years in!
Sadly, as we speak (read?) I am packing to move out of Sigma. It's weird since I've lived in this same room for 12 months straight! I'm going to miss it so much!
Anyway, a little info about me: I was co-social chair last semester and might be this coming semester as well (we havn't had elections yet) and will be continuing my positions as ritual chair and webmaster for the fall semester.
If you want to IM me it's Kaitydidd4. My e-mail's in my signature.

Sigma Love,
Melanie

Hey Sigmas,

I'm an active initiate at the theta rho chapter (University of Kentucky), joined my freshman year in 2003. Went through formal recuitment and interviewing to be a gamma chi (recruitment couseler) for the fall semester. I'm living in the house this year but unfortunately in a 4 person bedroom. If you've seen the rooms you would understand, but anyways... yay sigma kappa!

Thanks :D It was on the back of our bid day shirts this semester. I've been fooling around for awhile trying to make the greek letters happen *whine* they don't seem to want to work. And now that I'm fully initiated I like to use them everywhere :D I'll keep trying for my greek letters, but the slogan's staying!

SigmaKappaRoyal 06-24-2005 02:35 AM

hi sisters,

i've been reading for awhile but just today managed to finally set up an account here..

i just recently graduated from the University of California Riverside and became an alumna of the Theta Epsilon Chapter. I initiated in Fall 2003 as a junior and was the webmaster of our chapter site for a bit, and this spring was our internal social chair. Not sure what my plans are next but that is a little about me!

I'm just glad to find a place to connect with sisters from all over!

Have fun!

F.Y.I. I just recently bought a house in Riverside w/my fiance so I'm thinking that we may actually meet someday. My house won't be ready until late October/early November & I won't get to live in it until after my wedding in December but still. It's pretty neat to live near any sister.

that's awesome, congratulations! you should definitely check out our alumnae chapter here.. if you need any info on that i can get it to you. also it would be cool to see you at some of the collegiate chapter's rituals next year.. i will probably go to a few.

thanks for the welcome :)

alisonnisswaFSU 07-15-2005 12:32 PM

Hi Everyone!

My name is Alison and have just joined Greek Chat. I am a 96 initiate of the Omega chapter at Florida State. I went through formal rush during the fall of my freshman year so all of my best college memories are tied to Sigma Kappa and the awesome times I had there. As a matter of fact, my two best friends in the world are my Big Sister who splits her time between Milwaukee and Miami and my Twin Sis who lives in Atlanta. Its been almost ten years since I joined but in many ways it seems like just yesterday.

I live in central Minnesota now but still stay in touch with many of my sisters. I work as a group manager for a large department store chain owned by Saks Inc and lucky for me one of my summer employees is a Sigma Kappa at St Louis University. Was very excited when we realized that.

Nice meeting you all!

BetteDavisEyes 07-15-2005 06:36 PM

Welcome fellow alum! :D
