Jelly Beans and Other Easter Candy

What's your favorite/coolest easter candy you've gotten?

My new fave is starburst jelly beans... I used to hate jelly beans. Then my dad had some of these a few years ago and I tried one, and fell in love!

My mom used to pride herself in finding my brother and I different kinds of candy. She got my brother bubble gum or candy cigarettes- they had a finely powdered sugar on them so when you puffed on them a small cloud of "smoke" came out. Lol, won't see those around anymore ;) Surprisingly enough, my brother is not now and never has been a smoker!

ZTAMich 03-30-2004 10:09 PM

Peeps!! I love love love love them.

Peaches-n-Cream 03-30-2004 10:38 PM

I like those Cadbury Easter egg chocolate candies. I want them right now.

carnation 03-30-2004 10:42 PM

Chocolate bunnies! But Peeps used to be my favorites and I just ordered a Peeps Italian charm off of eBay because I still think they're precious.

KillarneyRose 03-30-2004 10:43 PM

I'm all about the Peeps! In fact, I have an opening package on my kitchen counter reaching stale perfection as I write this!

Tippiechick 03-30-2004 10:47 PM

I only like these now that I am pregnant... BUT, I have found an INTENSE desire for Jelly Belly gourmet jelly beans... I LOVE the Watermelon and Dr. Pepper flavors! My husband is getting me another batch for Easter:)

kddani 03-30-2004 10:48 PM

I like Jelly bellies too, but i hate sorting through all the ucky flavors

WCUgirl 03-30-2004 10:53 PM

I LOVE the Cadbury Cream eggs...mmmmmmm...I dream about those all year long until it's Easter time.

Hubby likes the peeps...which reminds me I need to go get some for him! :D

honeychile 03-30-2004 11:03 PM

Mr. honeychile is ALL ABOUT Peeps!!! He gets this glazed sugar look after scarfing down a few hundred (j/k).

I go for the hard stuff - Sarris chocolate, especially the meltaway eggs. It's embarrassing how much I love that stuff!

When I was a little girl, my next door neighbors were only grandchildren on both sides, so they always froze half of their (tons of) Easter candy. NOTHING takes as good as frozen Easter eggs in the dog days of August!!

AchtungBaby80 03-30-2004 11:08 PM

Reese's peanut butter eggs! Oh, mercy my...I love it when those come out every year. My mom always puts a couple in my Easter basket (yes, I still get one--even my 35-year-old sister gets one), and believe me, that's the best thing in there.

alikat2 03-30-2004 11:20 PM

I am known for my love of Peeps. But I like them fresh, not stale. :)

I also really like chocolate peanut butter eggs.

Peaches-n-Cream 03-31-2004 01:08 AM

Check out the Peeps research website.

EagleChick19 03-31-2004 01:19 AM

Peeps are made in Bethlehem, PA! :)

I have one at my parents' house just waiting for me. They're going to be so hard and sweet and delicious. :D

norcalchick 03-31-2004 02:02 AM

I LOVE reese's and snickers eggs. SO good!!! hehe

mmcat 03-31-2004 08:56 AM

sweet tarts and dark chocolate
i'm not really a peeps person

GPhiLlama 03-31-2004 09:38 AM

Frozen Peeps and Cadbury eggs! Yummmm.

ISUKappa 03-31-2004 11:18 AM

Without a doubt, Cadbury Mini Eggs. They're like crack!

The longest a bag has lasted me has been 3 days. :o I figure I need to eat them all right away so they're no longer in my cupboard, taunting me with their creamy, crunchy chocolatey goodness.

They're also a main reason for my hiatus from WW during March!

Intense1920 03-31-2004 11:31 AM

Cadbury Cream Eggs and Peeps. :)

AlphaSigOU 03-31-2004 11:54 AM

Jelly Bellys... the only Jellybeans I know used to be sported by airplanes of the now-defunct Braniff International Airlines! :) (Ask DeltAlum or Tom Earp about 'em! ;))

Rudey 03-31-2004 12:14 PM

I like the eggs. And unlike you people I buy like 4 at a time every time I'm in Wallgreens or CVS. When Easter is over and there is a sale on that candy, rest assured I will buy all the ones that don't look dinged up with the foil covering missing.

Dionysus 03-31-2004 12:17 PM

Peeps are disgusting! So are cadburies and jelly beans.

I'll just stick to decorated boiled eggs w/out yolk.

PsychTau 03-31-2004 02:19 PM

I'm a big Peeps fan. Course now they have "Peeps" for just about every holiday, which is a good way to get the Peeps fix more often, but also a way for the novelty to wear off. :(

I'm also ALL ABOUT the Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. Now, I know it's basically a Reese's PB Cup, but the ratio of peanut butter to chocolate is different, and soooooooo good!!

Now I need to go get some!!

My favorite is called "Piknik". You can only get it in Slovakia or in Czech/Slovak stores. It comes in a tube like toothpaste. I remember being in 2nd grade and bringing it to school with me and all the kids thought i was eating aquafresh toothpaste. It comes out just like tooth paste but it's a white/creamy color and is pure sugar. My mom was in Chicago recently and went to some little area where its all Slovakian stores and bought a crap load for me and my brother.....about a month ago I was laying in bed with my GF when we woke up on a sunday morning....I squirted some of it in my mouth and hers....next thing we know we're bouncing off of walls and cleaning everything in the apt.

Peaches-n-Cream 03-31-2004 04:18 PM

I like chocolate bunnies, not the hallow kind. I like solid milk chocolate Easter bunnies. When I was little, I used to eat the head last because I felt bad for the bunny. I saw chocolate bunnies in the supermarket and it took all of my self-control not to buy it.

Jadey28 03-31-2004 05:19 PM

I'm not a Peeps fan, but I do love Cadburry Eggs. Yummy. My favorite is the Reese Peanut Butter Eggs. PsychTau, you are totally right with your statement about the ratio of PB to chocolate being different. Can't wait to get my Easter basket with my goodies!!!! (Yes, I still get an Easter basket at my age!)

chideltjen 03-31-2004 05:44 PM

I am adding myself to the Peeps list!

The thing is that, being a diabetic, I can't have them all that often. But I make an exception around this time.

The worst is when your relatives start buying you sugar free candy. SF Jelly Beans taste like plastic. I don't recommend them to anyone.

I am totally with you!!! Peeps are just not for me. I hate marshmellow in any form except when it's been charred over a fire, then it's yummy. :D

I have a huge weakness for Cadbury Caramel eggs and Cadbury mini eggs. YUMMMMMM!!!

Too bad I am on a diet. :(

Oh well my birthday is the day before Easter so maybe I'll splurge and eat some Easter candy as a birthday present to myself. :D

Rio_Kohitsuji 03-31-2004 10:40 PM

I like everything :D

sororitygirl2 04-06-2004 12:34 AM

The Cadbury cream eggs are nasty, but I love the Cadbury mini eggs - the chocolate ones with the chalk-like shells. I wish they made them all year!

Oh, and I don't know if anyone already said this because I didn't read the whole thing, but it is LOTS of fun to put Peeps in the microwave and watch them explode! (Their not worth eating so you may as well do something with them.)

juniorgrrl 04-06-2004 01:01 AM

My favorite are Elmer's Goldbrick eggs and Heavenly Hash eggs. You can only get them in the New Orleans/Baton Rouge area (afaik at least, maybe other parts of LA get them). Their website is www.elmercandy.com

The Goldbrick egg is solid chocolate with pecan pieces in it. It's about 3 inches long and about 2 inches thick, solid chocolate. It's heaven.

The Heavenly Hash egg is about 5 inches long, a chocolate shell filled with marshmallow and almonds.

In my family, its not easter without these two things. Everything else is just yankee crap!

those and the cadbury cream choc egg as well as Jelly Bellies and peeps!

TigerLilly 04-06-2004 09:27 AM

Oh man...Cadbury Cream eggs... I thought it was bad enough, seeing them in all the stores, until I went to London. They have them in vending machines in the subway!!! So you're just standing there, waiting for your train to come, and they're there beside you, taunting you...yeah I took advantage of those machines a couple of times. :D

greeklawgirl 04-06-2004 12:17 PM

Oh, to have a Reese's Peanut Butter Egg right now! :)

alikat2 04-06-2004 12:39 PM

I just ordered a box of chocolae eggs with peanut butter and marshmallow in the middle--heaven!!

OMG this is the funniest thing EVER! I was just talking about this yesterday with one of my co-workers, actually, and they looked at me like I was crazy!

GMUBunny 04-06-2004 04:09 PM

I hate Peeps, so the Peeps research site is one of my guilty pleasures. I seem to be the only one who absolutely loves those lil round nestle crunch-type candies that come in the foil wrappers (some look like coins, and some have easter designs on the wrapers). I can't eat peanut butter eggs anymore, and I don't like anything with filling (unless it's a Lindt dark chocolate ball thingy). Call me weird, but I just love plain chocolate with rice krispie things in them. I also absolutely love red jellybellys.

sairose 04-06-2004 05:16 PM

PEEPS are #1 with me!!! Yum, pure sugar! :D

I also love those little pastel shelled chocolate Cadbury eggs. I like the Cream Eggs too!

AGDee 04-06-2004 09:57 PM

Peeps
Cadbury Caramel Eggs (I don't like the cream eggs but the caramel filled ones are awesome!)
Reese's

I have managed to avoid them all so far this year but my ex wants me to do the Easter shopping for the kids so I guess I have to go down that aisle at Walgreen's. Hopefully the Reese's eggs will be GONE.
