Bra advice!

Ladies,

OK so my chapter's formal is this weekend. My dress makes it impossible for me to wear a regular bra or even a strapless bra.

What about the backless bras, like you use the adhesive to put on? I looked at some in Dillairds and Sears yesterday. Do these work? If so, how well? Do they support well?

Thanks in advance! :D

I had one of the adhesive ones for prom, and it stuck so well that it took awhile to get off:D ...i actualyl got one from Victoria's Secret, which might be more expensive, but i would pay a little extra money so my chest wont fly out or be exposed or something drastic like that....My friend had one from Foleys, though, and it stayed on great.

I've never used them before. They don't look like they work on very large chests either.
My only suggestion would be to by some and test them out

I have fairly large chest and once I had to use the stick-um bras things. Honestly, they don't really work on their own, but if you reinforce with (gasp!) duck tape they are okay. Definitely not the most supportive but okay if your boobs are at least partially perky!

I concur. If you have a large chest, those sticky cup things are literally "a BUST". :)

also you could forego the sitck-ums and just use duck tape. I hear that's what hollywood stylists make the girls do!

sairose 03-30-2004 05:18 PM

Well I have an average chest...around 38B, if that helps. I'm thinking reinforcing it with duct tape might work. I just don't like the idea of duct tape over my boobs!

Well, I'd go for that one but the nearest Victorias Secret an hour and a half away. Shoot. :(

Another thing you could do is invest in prewrap... it's the stuff athletic trainers use before they tape up ankles and whatnot. Use that stuff before applying duck tape.

i suggest not getting a strapless backless bra that resembles a corset... because it feels like one. I don't have a huge chest so I probably would have been better off without it because i felt like my ribs were crushing.

Txsurfinwaves 03-30-2004 05:35 PM

guys, i have an large chest and it worked for me. Yes, it felt very weird, but it stayed on and everything stayed in place. My friend who wore the one from Foleys wears a C and it worked well for her. I think youll be fine, sairose.

Ginger 03-30-2004 06:31 PM

Suprisingly, they don't work very well on very small chests either. I got one for Mr. Ginger's formal Christmas work party, and I couldn't get the damn things to stick on because they were shaped wrong for my not-so-prevalent chest.

sairose 03-30-2004 06:35 PM

Well I think I'll take a chance on the one I saw in Dilliard's. I'll let y'all know how it works! :D

I am a D/DD cup and a former Victoria's Secret employee. I can tell you from my experience as well as the 100's of others I sold their strapless/backless bra to - IT WORKS! It works so well that I won't even try anyone else's. I love it and it held me in for a wild night at my last formal. It does help if you have someone help you put it on. My roommate was nice enough to help me put it on as I held the girls in place! ;)

alsparky 03-30-2004 08:56 PM

I'd recommend spending the extra money and getting the backless bra that is cups with tape on the sides.

I got the sticky ones for my bf's sister's wedding and they weren't comfortable to dance and move around in. And After 15 minutes in a hot shower, they still hurt coming off! And they left that band-aid-type stickiness that never seems to go away.... Not a pleasant experience.

good luck!

Allison

I know this is too late for this weekend's formal, but an option for the future is having cups sewn into the dress. That way you won't have to be thinking of things like duct taping the girls! (ouch!!!)

Seconded - I've had them sewn into three dresses so far and it works great! :)

I've heard that in order to help the removal of tape, etc. use baby oil or vegetable oil. Soak the tape with the oil....it's supposed to help destroy the sticky stuff and help them ease off.

Someone who's tried that can let us know for sure....

What happened to the post with that hilarious picture? I came online to show it to hubby and it's not there anymore!

decadence 03-31-2004 06:41 AM

As I deleted a post with a picture in this thread after I thought better of posting it... guess you mean me. But going from your comments AXiD670 I guess I shouldn't worry about it being taken poorly. Thanks, and here it is again for your viewing pleasure: :)

decadence - I thought it was funny! I don't think it would offend anyone.

Thanks for reposting! ;)

GeekyPenguin 03-31-2004 03:46 PM

So here's my question about that picture. I've put some thought into this.

If you're that concerned about having a little extra "oomph," isn't it because you want a little sumpin' sumpin' to go on with you and your date later? What would you say when he noticed that?

ISUKappa 03-31-2004 05:53 PM

You know, I hope she put band-aids or something over the nipples, because I don't care how drunk I am, that's gonna hurt like a beeyotch when it gets ripped off.

I can just imagine her date - "I finally figured out bras and now I have to get THIS off?!?!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

GeekyPenguin - you are awesome! I've had such a crappy few days at work and this thread makes me giggle. ;) Thanks!

sairose 03-31-2004 08:56 PM

Just got back from Dilliard's. I bought the backless strapless one with the tape for the sides. I'll let y'all know how it works! :)

Thanks for the advice!
