Fun news!

Hi ladies! I have been MIA for a few days as I was in Puerto Rico with my FIANCE!!!

We got engaged on Weds. night - the first night we got there. It was all very sweet and romantic and I'm so exctied! I'm so excited to be back here where I can gush to people! In PR all of Orlando's family speaks Spanish and I don't so I've been waiting almost a week to gush!

It's a round stone set in platinum with a long, thin baguette on either side. It's so beautiful and just what I'd hoped for! I took a pic with the digital camera that I need to send to the parents. If I ever figure out how to post it on here I will!

Thanks for listening!!!!

LICO,
Kathy

Oh how I wish - I always wanted one of those!!!

I totally forgot to mention!

After he asked we walked to the hotel bar for a drink. On the way we passed through this plaza on the hotel grounds. I stopped for a minute to look at the ring in the moonlight (I know  ). When I looked up, there was one of those plastic owls on a ledge in front of me - the kind you put out to scare birds. I said something to Orlando like "Look, an owl! It's a sign - the Chi O gods are telling me they approve!" He groaned!!! :D

Congrats Kathy! I posted my congrats on Hooties too. :)
I think seeing that owl is really neat. Men never will get it, but I wouldn't worry about it...they don't know what they're missing. :p

Thanks all for you congrats and thanks Amy for the online candle pass! :)

And I wish I could pick my bridesmaids from GC! I haven't asked anyone yet b/c I'm still stressing about the friend who "used to be my best friend but we haven't stayed that close and now she's files bankruptcy so does she really have the $ to be in the wedding friend." I'm seriously considering just a Maid of Honor who is my chapter sister and definitely my current and true best friend...And I swore I would have drama-free wedding planning! Oh well! :)

OK, all I'm sayin' is that I've been a bridesmaid 12 times, so I'm here (with polyester dresses & satin pumps) if you need me!

xo_kathy 04-06-2004 03:13 PM

Hmmmm...red? No, nothing in red & yellow except LOTS of T-shirts!

P.S. Your ring is gorgeous!

XOMichelle 04-08-2004 03:09 PM

Kathy-
What an awesome ring!!!
I want one, but I really don't want the commitment with it. So I shall stick to admiration.

You will be very happy!!!

NutBrn! That is PERFECT!

It does have the requisite gigantic bow on the butt, right?!?!?!

KellyB369 04-22-2004 05:02 PM

The pictures are beautiful! Will all of his family be coming up from Puerto Rico?

Keep us updated, especially with pictures (they are fun!).

xoheatherxo 04-27-2004 04:08 PM

the davenport club is gorgeous!! ive been there for a wedding and it was beautiful (im from wappingers)!! congrats on this special time in your life!!!!

xo_kathy 05-04-2004 01:51 PM

Heather - I'm glad to "know" someone who's been there for an event and agrees that it's great! It just felt right when I walked in (sort of like the Chi O house did during rush! :) ).

Guess what I get to do this weekend?!? Dress shopping!!!! I'm so excited!

Here are two of my front runners:

From LaSposa

And from St. Patrick
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...a1170000001610

I have no real set image of the perfect dress. I like sparkly stuff. I didn't think I liked lace, but clearly the first pic proves that theory wrong! I don't want a tulle skirt because it reminds me of my ballet costumes growing up. But that's about all I know! I guess it will all depend on how they look.

XOAlumXO 05-05-2004 01:05 PM

I love the first dress!! It's gorgeous and different! I sang in about 12 weddings last year and all the brides wore strapless gowns. They were beautiful- but I like dresses that stand out. That first dress stands out to me. What a fun thread! Thanks for keeping us posted!

KellyB369 05-05-2004 05:04 PM

I never thought I would want sleeves but that first dress looks very pretty. Keep us updated!

xo_kathy 05-10-2004 01:00 PM

OK, so I went shopping this weekend. At first, it was really overwhelming, but then it got fun, and it was over too quick!

So, I saw that first dress above right as I walked in and I was so excited. I got it half way zipped and realized it looked horrible on me! :( The sleeves were full length (I thought they were 3/4 from the picture), they had big ugly buttons, and the lace was really itchy. Oh well. But I did find styles I liked, including one that I really, really, liked. It made me look super thin (which I am not!) and was very sparkly. So it's definitely in the running. Here's a pic (on the model, of course). It's much prettier in person!

Nut Submitting a Dress for Consideration...

Kathy, those dresses are lovely, but... have you tried one like this?

xo_kathy 05-12-2004 02:52 PM

Nut- Perhaps you should become a wedding planner! Your fabulous ideas just contantly amaze me! I was thinking of hitting a dress shop in my town this weekend, and I will take the above photo with me and demand to try on dresses JUST like that one!

Thanks again!

Kathy that dress is beautiful. Sorry NutBrn but I'm going to have to say that your suggestion is hideous and Kathy should not try to find anything like it. :p

XOAlumXO 05-12-2004 11:48 PM

Nut, you CRACK ME UP!

KellyB369 06-08-2004 06:23 PM

Kathy, any updates?

xo_kathy 06-22-2004 10:00 AM

Update: I may have found THE dress. I had seen this one in the magazines and thought it was pretty, but wasn't too into the pink beading. I found it in the salon in 'pearl' (ivory) with really light silver and clear beading and it was so beautiful! And it had everything I wanted, lots of sparkle, a strapless neckline that isn't straight but a bit rounded, sparkley stuff on the back, a beaded hemline etc etc. And I really like the layered stuff on the front. AND it's really lightweight and comfy, AND it's cheap!!!!! So, now I need mom to see me in the one above and this one and help me decide! :) This one is SO much prettier in person!!!!!
