Frat Beers of choice?
I know geography has a big impact on what beer you drink at college, but are there any frats out there that have personal favorites? Still drinking it out of college?
|
Well, my sorority doesn't have a favorite, since there are a lot of girls who don't drink in my chapter. But I really like PBR. Call me crazy!
|
The fraternity I went to all the time in school had either Meister Brau or Schaeffer as their house beer. Cheap was the key! It wasn't too bad if it was ice cold, but we often opted to bring our own.
The drink of choice of most of us was Yuengling Lager. Oh how I miss it!!! They need to start distributing in the Northeast! Allison |
Allison,
Yuengling has said it's a regional beer. They don't want to go national with their product, yet. |
is that pronounced youngling? j/w....
anyways, natty light by far is the cheap beer of choice among most frats around Ar, but i tend to stray towards the 16oz beast light...quality and quanity heh |

Keystone was the beer of choice. And on nights we were feeling rich, we'd go get some Coors or Bud.
I was always one of those that drank the fancy beers though. My personal preference is still Spaten Optimator. |
yes, it's Ying-ling.
|
let's not forget keystone light and southpaw. both guarenteed to give you a cheap, crazy buzz:D
|
Budweiser for us.

My favorite beer
This girl drinks Penn Pilsner. I've managed to get some of my graduate school friends drinking it, so that's cool. It's between Yuengling and Samuel Adams.

Lone Star Light
|
more like what DON'T we drink....but we mostly stick to flavored vodka. My favorite beer is Newcastle though. My Sigma Pi buddies all love Bud Light
|
I'm not in a "frat" but my favorite beer is Biere de Mars from the New Belgium Brewing Company in Ft. Collins, CO. I'm not sure how widely available it is.
Hahaha, when I was in college and we were really poor, we used to drink something called Lucky Lager. I wonder if that still exists. |
we all definately drink tons of something called we lovingly call "beast" which is busch.... or beast lite lol- also bud light is mostly my fave at school.... we had a kegorator at my house (not my sorority house- i lived with 7 guys) and we had rolling rock on tap most of the time- we tried yuengling once- but it made a bad beer pong game..bleh... everyonce in awhile someone will show up with a keystone light or something...
here in london i'm way addicted to hoegaarden (its a white belgian beer sooo good) or there's kronenburg... all the beer here is 5% alcohol (or one kind of hoegaarden is 8.7%!) - so a couple of pints gets you pretty far lol.... one of the worst vodkas i've ever had was something called "devils springs" it was 12 bucks for a bottle and was 180 proof.... it said one the label not to drink straight because it will like burn your insides- a friend of mine put some in a plastic cup and the vodka burned right through! we usually do punch for the non beer people though- jungle juice- that kind of thing- we just make it up- i also have some good recipes for some other kinds of punch- just ask:) |
Yeah the cheap beer of choice here is keystone light.... or if your feeling daring keystone ice. We try to stay away from natty light and milwaukes best i don't think those are any worse or better just that we got hooked on keystone for cheap beer.

mtsu ten
at mtsu Cheap beer of choice by far natty light, good cheap beer.
fave beer around here seems to be coors light which i whole heartledly agree tap the rockies |
Busch Light seems to be really popular here for parties and mixers. Probably cuz with the new taxes in New York State, kegs cost like $250!

The Keg is like $70 or $80, but there's a lot of taxes in NYS that make it cost like $250 total.

The 2 fraternities on campus always had either Keystone, Natural Light or Milwauke's Best....top notch for sure. Coulda used me a Yuengling for sure... |
I guess since I am in TX our kegs are either Bud Light or Miller Light. Never stray from either of the two. WOW $250 for a keg i have never heard of anything over $75! Glad they are cheaper down here!
|
I think people down here mostly drink Keystone and Natty Light. Bud Light when we're feeling rich. :D I actually don't mind Natty Light at all... ;)

yea aristocrat quality house or heaven hill vodka..
cheap wine.. humm..i guess mad dog 20/20 is considered a wine..and yes, its cheap. |
Milwaukee's Best is soooo Beast! They sell a shirt in Urban Outfitters that says Milwaukee's Best on it and I crack up every time i see it. The beer of choice that is always around at the frat parties is Beast and sometimes Natty Ice. I have never heard of a sorority that doesn't drink, that is amazing to me, we are all such alcoholics its not even funny!
Oh and for a nasty vodka try Banker's Club. Blah, that is some of the worst stuff I have ever had and those frat boys love to mix it with EVERYTHING!!!!! From Twister to powdered iced tea mix, they will put this nasty stuff in it Carol D Z Epsilion Zeta Chapter Drexel University |

While my personal favorites are Newcastle and Sierra Nevada, the house choice seems to be Pyramids or Sierra Nevada, both local Cali Beers. Though for most of our bigger parties we get kegs of Bud or whatever is cheapest at the time. But we did have a keg of LaBatt that the alums gave us.
