prize
What do you put in as prizes for both pledges and sisters? we have events and so far just either have a cool prizes or a combination of small prizes in baskets, so far its getting hard to be original.....any ideas...........

Everyone likes instant lottery tickets. And they are cheap.

After some hard diliberation, i would think condoms are definitely the way to go. There's nothing better than an STD free sister.

Theme baskets are always nice, like a basket full of bath and body stuff, or an assortment of candies, etc.

think: what small things did you forget or need when you were a freshman?
Get 32oz plastic cups and fill with such things as:

LOL, when you said batteries I thought of hearing aids batteries, I know some girls would want that not the hearing girls of course. The hearing aid batteries are expensive and seem to die in worst time like when you are out, at party, events, etc... lol but interesting......I dont think the condom thing would be a good idea. only few of us are sexually active.

true but we are on BC not condoms. I want to give them a prize they can show mom not something they will have to sneak in the dark of the night LOL. I think the basket ideas sound good. One time we made a "starving students basket" where we had ramen, bottled water, cheese whiz, etc.
anyway, we are starting to run out of ideas and want something more unique or creative! |
I don't know if you guys make paddles for eachother, but a paddle-making kit (or soroity craft kit) would be a good prize...paint in your colors, stickers with your mascot, letter stamps, etc...
|
I think a GLUE STICK would be a good prize. Really helpful with crafts and stuff....

if youre talking about a gift for a little sister or something like that, there are mini paddles you can buy about 3 inches long and there are the "lil sis" stickey wooden words you can stick on. makes a great key chain, i got one!

Well I don't know about filling a basket, but the 2 most sought after items for any prize in my chapter were Target and Victoria's Secret Gift Cards. Even though they were normally only $5 or $10 amounts.
Let me tell you, during the holiday gift exchange, they were definitely the most "stolen" in the game. But I know when I was scholarship chair, I would hit up the dollar store to make study baskets. Even only allotting $10 a basket, I was able to get a bunch of stuff. Also, scrapbooks and picture frames are popular. |
I think the big plastic cup thing is a great idea. You can get ones for your organization, fill it with little, but important, things and then wrap with colored cellophane and tie with a ribbon.
If I remember college life (and it is still true after college), rolls of quarters are very needed for the laundry machines. Maybe a cup with laundry quarters, pre-paid calling card, gum, gift cards or $5 or $10 for the local grocery (they have those mow), and that sort of thing. I'm social co-chair for my alumni chapter, and I'm trying to come up with stuff like that, too. |
