Hazing Charges for Splinter Sorority
http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/neworle...2135220260.xml
This is right after Panhel, IFC, and the NPHC banned their members from attending their events. |
If they actually did this stuff, they need the book thrown at them! That is horrible!
Sorry, it ain't worth getting my ass whupped for brother/sister hood |
Just goes to show you that women can be just as bad as men. Thanks to Tri Phi for continuing to uphold the ideals of sorority life....WHATEVER!!

People kill me with this crap. Hitting people, like a bunch of third graders. Nonsense |
What is so sad, they represent themslves as Greeks!:(
What is sadder yet, is that the media picks up on this and places the blame on all Greeks! Pardon Me while I lay my head down and Cry for stupitity! SH*T< SH*T< SH*T! That is all over! |
You know what? We need to have a "Darwin Award" equivalent for chapters that cast such a pall over the rest of greek life - these girls certainly qualify.
So, the contest is (no prizes other than you get credit for picking the winner) - is what should this award be named? |
Dumb Ass award?????
|
I'm not trying to poke fun at this serious situation, but for the record, I've eaten SPAM all my life (I actually love that isht) and I'm still alive. :)
|
OMG OTW, I suppose u like hash too?:(
Pleeze say it anint so!:( Well, guess not poi for this boy!:D   |
Question....
Does anyone have a theory to why people continue to pledge after this blatant mistreatment? Now, some people do cry wolf in terms of hazing, some of the things I've heard didn't sound like hazing to me, but nonetheless people screamed haze. That entire term is kinda iffy. But back to my question; why do people put up with this? Call me crazy, but telling me to eat my own vomit would have been a "light bulb". |
Hasn't Loyala always had problems with these girls? I know some girls from high school that at one time or another where in this.

Yeah it's been a problem. The school always sends out reminder emails to the students that if they're interested in being Greek, they should go through NPC recruitment or NPHC intake. The school really couldn't do anything, because it's not happening on campus. There's rumors flying all over the place to why they've chosen now to crack down. It's a bad year for Loyola-we've gotten plenty of bad publicity with the sex abuse scandal, the interim president being opposed to The Vagina Monologues because of the language (mainly the word vagina), and now this.
As for why girls go through it, Tri Phi is a status symbol. When my dad went to school here, they were the very rich, very New Orleans high society girls-for example, they were the queens in the biggest parades. Don't ask me why they still do it, I don't know. I wasn't interested in joining them. |
See I know now that is not true. I know some girls went them just cause they couldnt make it with the NPC sororities
|
They were a status symbol when they were a recognized campus organization. And OT, but is one of your sisters dating a guy named Manny who goes to Loyola?
|
Ok...I read that they made their girls wear the same clothes for four days....seems to me if you're trying to be a "status symbol" maybe you wouldn't want girls associated with you wearing the same clothes for days on end....

I think people allow themselves to be hazed for a couple of reasons:
1) Peer pressure 2) Desire to belong and fit in/prove oneself/be popular and accepted 3) Desire to people please and conform to the majority 4) Initimidation and feeling like there's no way out 5) Fear of being ostracized and alone, and being ridiculed even more for "failing" 6) Fear of not being good enough/fear of failure.... .... even when what they're being asked to do is morally, socially or just plain legally (in some instances) wrong. I can't imagine another instance where you'd willingly consume your own regurgitated dinner! While I agree that these alleged incidents may not have happened if there had been university and alumnae advisory support/administration, I disagree with the article's subtle inference that this would not have happened within an on-campus or national group. There are plenty of inter/national chapters out there in the news soiling the Greek image, one notorious headline at a time. I don't support the events that allegedly occurred within Tri-Phi, but I also don't like the way the article tried to paint locals as a renegade option to joining an inter/national. |
