Who would you be?
Since we're on the topic of movies, if you could be the main character in a movie already made, which movie would you select and what character? Assume the role you play would actually happen to/for you.
|
I would be Monica from Love & Basketball.
|
I would like to play Vivica A. Fox's role in Soul Food. She had two beautiful children; a husband that cared for her, was faithful, & provided for his family; and she & her sisters had a strong bond. I also liked the fact that after church, the family got together for Sunday dinner, their tradition to celebrate thanks.

Nice choices .....
|
Maaaaaaan this is a good topic. CocoaCaramel took mine, well at least one of my top picks.
I gotta go think. There are so many characters. |
I would be Whoopi Goldberg's character (the name escapes me) in "Sarafina".
|
Either Bernadine or Savannah in Waiting to Exhale.
|
Jordan- The Best Man "... and I don't want to hear about no @#$dayum peas."
Savannah- Waiting to Exhale |
Mia in The Best Man and Josephine Baker in The Josephine Baker Story.
|
I would play Nia Long's Character on Love Jones......oh that movie is one of my ultimate favorites...
|
Ok here is one choice that I have made so far: Stoney, Jada Pinkett's character, in Set It Off.
I am looking forward to my scenes with Blair. I would hate to lose everyone I love, her parents, brother, and her girls but she played the hell out of that role. |
If I were going to be bad I would be Sarah Michelle Gellar's character from Cruel Intentions on the freaky tip. Or Castor Troy from Face/Off on the bada-- tip.
If I were going to be the character that is most like me (in a recent movie), I would be Monica from Love and Basketball. |
Anything starring Angela Bassett. All of her characters ooze "strong black woman". I would have played the heck out of Bernadine's part in Waiting to Exhale when she was throwing all of her hubby's clothes in the car... (all dramatic).
But, they would've had to call "Cut! - What are you doing???" on the set of What's Love Got to Do With It. I would've had to flip a few times... "Hold up, --- slap me over a couch, oh see, it's on now..." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by tickledpink (edited June 27, 2001).] |
CrimsonTide4
You pick the other character that I would have picked. Blair was like WHOA!!! |
Pam Grier in JACKIE BROWN. She played that role well. She's just a bad sista IMHO. She has aged well, and I hope to look half as good at her age.
|
I'd wanna play Tionne in BELLY, so I'd get to lay up next to NAS,and be all up in his grill, and ...
|
The character that most reflects my personality would be Lisa (Eddie Murphy's love interest) in Coming To America. I would have married the goat herder.
|
angela bassett...in what's love got to do with it...
|
Monica Calhoun's character, Mia, in The Best Man.
|
I would have to choose Julia Roberts (Vivian) in Pretty Woman. "Wake up, time to shop!" Oh, that must be the life.
(Ignore the fact that she was a prostitute, only pay attention to the fact that she was swept off her feet by a generous man!) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
Ok, one more. Angela Bassett in How Stella Got Her Groove Back. Yeah, definitely. But not necessarily with Taye Diggs. Dang, I'm re-writin' the movie, lol.
|
Off the top of my head, I would say Lynne Whitfield in Stompin' At the Savoy. She is a woman who had a vision and went after it; a lady with ambition. I am focused lady with ambition, integritiy and tenacity all of which Lynne eximplified in her role. As she aged, she became more refined and beautiful; as I see myself doing. Although this is one MAJOR side of who I am, the other is a pretty, sweet-voice lady with overflowing love for my boyfriend of whom I one day will marry and have children with, and be a loving wife & mom like Phylisha Rashad in the Cosby Show.

I would have to say Halle Berry's character in Swordfish because:
1. I liked her clothes 2. She had my fantasy car (the red Jaguar in the beginning) 3. It would be fun to play the bad girl http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort & convience, but where he stands at times of challenge & controversy --Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
Nia Long's character in Love Jones
and Halle Berry's character in The Rich Man's Wife and Sharon Stone's character in Basic Instinct Delete the lesbian scenes. |
Definitely "Justice" in Poetic Justice or Vanessa L. Williams character in Soul Food (the movie) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I would also play (because I'm watching it now)
Karyn Parsons ~ Mixing Nia ~ She plays a yuppie with a white father and a black mother who quits her job as a successful copy writer at an ad agency to search for her racial identity. |
Omar Epps'(Quincy) part in "Love and Basketball"
Taye Diggs'{Harper} part in "The Best Man" Mekhi Phifer's(Lem) part in "Soul Food" MMMM....Sanaa and Nia...... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
I would be the Nia Long person in Love Jones cause I am a sucker for a sweet poem and the possiblity of love. I would also be Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan in all of their movies. They are the best.

Is the Original Ape back?!?!? geez, I wonder who stayed in your ear, bruh? *end hijack* |
If I was younger I would play the little girl off of the " The Bad Seed and also the daughter in "To Kill a Mockingbird".
Also Uma Thurman's (sp?) role in "Kill Bill", I could karate chop, sword fight, and bust a move in that movie, plus looked soooo sharp in that yellow outfit. Nia Long in Love Jones I would like to play one of the FBI agents in "Mississippi Burning" There are others, but I cannot think of them now. |
Taraji P. Henson.......I like her in practically anthing she plays in...she's very versatile.
