Does Ramen ever expire?

I want some Ramen, but I know it is probably 2 years old. Does it expire?

PhiPsiRuss 03-22-2004 05:34 PM

is there an expiration date on the package?

dzsaigirl 03-22-2004 05:36 PM

Nope, that's why I asked :)

PhiPsiRuss 03-22-2004 05:39 PM

My guess is that you're safe. I wouldn't think twice about eating it.

However, if you get sick, I'm not responsible.:p

Dionysus 03-22-2004 06:16 PM

I don't think it will harm you, but don't be surprised if some critters have hatched.

ThetaGrrl 03-22-2004 06:18 PM

I don't think it expires. Which is one more reason why it is so fabulous.

or protein?

SATX*APhi 03-22-2004 06:29 PM

LOL. I've always been afraid to eat old Ramen. Guess it's okay. :p

It doesn't expire, but it does get stale after a while. You won't die from eating old ramen, but I'd toss it out and just go to the store and buy fresh packages.

Seriously... it is cheap enough.

dzsaigirl 03-22-2004 07:18 PM

I didn't HAVE to eat the ramen. I have plenty of other food and the means to buy more, but I already had this ramen and was craving some! Anyway, I cooked it up and it tasted stale, so I tossed it and ate some french bread instead. I just wanted some carbs :)

aephi alum 03-22-2004 08:10 PM

Some things never expire.

You will notice I did not say "go bad". It can't go bad if it already is bad.

justamom 03-22-2004 08:16 PM

Have you looked at the calorie and sodium listed on the label?
I gave it up when I saw the breakdown. It is absolutely hideous!

But it sure tastes good!

cutiepatootie 03-22-2004 08:53 PM

I think top ramen last forever and ever and ever and ever...the best is lime shrimp ramen

James 03-22-2004 09:25 PM

Ahhhh good. I was about to sget a gift basket together for you. I figured you ran out of food money replacing the clothes your hubby ruined . . :p[

Since we're on the subject of ramen and we know that dzsaigirl didn't starve ;) , what's everyone's favorite brand of Ramen?

I don't care too much for Top Ramen, but I can understand how they can be a lot of people's favorite. The cheapest I've ever seen it was $0.29 a package and less than $5 a carton.

I prefer Sapporo Ichiban myself. Chicken or beef flavor, with egg and leftover meats. :D

James 03-22-2004 09:40 PM

I used to like Ooodles of noodles shrimp flavor . . .

I liked oodles because it comes ina cup . . if they made a low salt version it would be a better product.

cutiepatootie 03-23-2004 03:19 AM

lime shrimp and or picante

GeekyPenguin 03-23-2004 03:36 AM

I do not know HOW people eat this stuff. I have never liked it, even when drunk.

lifesaver 03-23-2004 03:54 AM

Chicken Ramen is the best.

BTW - The FDA's slogan is; "When in doubt, throw it out."

Thrillhouse 03-23-2004 09:38 AM

A little off topic but someone at work put a box of individually packaged oatmeal in the break area with a help yourself sign on it. I looked at the expiration date on it and it said 1998:eek:

Ginger 03-23-2004 01:53 PM

I actually never ate it until after college, if you can believe that! Because of that I never got overdosed on it and actually even *want* it from time to time, despite having plenty of access to real food!

Best flavor is creamy chicken. How this is different from the regular chicken, I don't know, but it tastes better.
