Guess who the stork's coming to visit...

Hey there my GreekChat Sisters!

Haven't been here for a while, but for good reason. I've been busy preparing for a special arrival :D

After 8 years of trying to start a family, Robert and I are happy to announce that we will be adopting a baby!!!!!

We haven't (and don't) have a whole lot of time to prepare. The baby's due on April 16th!!!! (Yikes!)

We're both really excited...kind of freakin' out and a bit overwhelmed by how fast this is all happening (after all these years of waiting!).. but still very excited.

I'll try to keep you all posted as to how all goes.

Loyally,
Mai Ly

Mai, I know your new bundle of joy will be raised in a house filled with love, judging from seeing all the love you and Rob have put into the chapter.

And Lauren Marbella will have a new playmate!

Congratulations to you and Rob, and I can't wait to meet your newest addition!

What an exciting time for you! As an adoptive mom, I know the joy, excitement, trepidation and sheer wonder the next few days, weeks, months and years will bring. How wonderful! I wish you the same precious love that I have with my darling girl.

I am reading a great book that may help you. It is called 20 Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew. It is a great resource.

This is SOOOOO exciting!

In less than a month, Mai Ly's new daughter will be the 2nd legacy (the first being Lauren, born earlier this month) to bless Alpha Gamma Delta! :D I can just imagine baby and Lauren playing together with "I'm an Alpha Gam legacy" baby t-shirts!

Hurray! A legacy :D

greeklawgirl 03-27-2004 03:35 PM

You need to have the Delta Sigmas come over to decorate your nursery in red, buff, and green!

I bet that she will be surrounded by LOTS of stuffed squirrels! :D

Congratulations, Mai Ly!

AGDZO Susan 03-31-2004 10:30 AM

She's here!

Just got the confirmation, sisters!

The lovely baby girl MaiLy and her husband so lovingly chose to adopt entered the world this morning!

Arwen Makanaokalani was born at 2:51 AM this morning (April 9). She weighed 6 lbs, 14 oz and was 19 inches long. "Makanaokalani" is the Hawaiian name for "gift from heaven".

Mom gets to take our newest legacy home tomorrow and I can't wait until she gets on here to let us in on all the details so far!

DeltaBetaAGD 04-09-2004 11:17 PM

This is awesome news! Thank you for passing it on so quickly!!!

Congratulations and best wishes MaiLy!

Yesterday was my last day of work at Hawaiian Airlines. Two weeks ago I decided that I wanted to devote more time to raising my new daughter, who is just growing too fast!!!!! She's already 5 months old, and she is just doing so much fun stuff... I can't stand to miss a minute of it.

So here I am...now a stay at home Mom! It's kind of freaky for me... I've always had a job (a paying one.) But I'm really happy with my decision.

Of course, I'm already teaching her all about red, buff, green, squirrels, and pearls :D

In fact... I took her with me to Delta Sigma's Bid Day celebration this last weekend... and since all of the girls had brand new AGD shirts to wear... I just had to make Arwen one to match!

Want to see?

Our Little Legacy

We made her buddy Lauren one to match :)

mu_agd 09-24-2004 06:48 AM

She is just too adorable! I'm sure she is going to be a fabulous Alpha Gam legacy!

Hoooooly crap, SHE'S SO BIG NOW!

I remember her at Panhellenic Luncheon and she was just a newborn! It's no surprise that she and Lauren (why do I have a feeling they'll grow up joined at the hip?) were matching? FYI -- Lauren is the legacy of our sister Jenny, from Sigma Chapter, current VPS Advisor.

Applauses on the ears pierced! That's when I got mine too!!!

Mai, if they have openings at Hawaiian lemme know....I've already put resumes and apps in for American, United, and Continental.

See you Saturday!

GtownGirl98 09-24-2004 09:26 AM

How do you say her name? Is it like Erin, Arin, Arron, Aron? If I sould it out my why... Southern with a little of the Yankee in me... it seems like it would be Arwen with just a little bit of "we" in it...

hawaiiagd 09-24-2004 03:21 PM

Arwen is pronounced R - When

She's named after the elf princess in Lord of the Rings :)

Unfortunately, Lauren didn't make it to Bid Day, but I think we're going to see her this weekend, so she'll get it then.
