Who's ready for green beer??
Who's ready for green beer and where are you going to drink it??
|
HECK YEAH. I AM GOING TO GO TO HENRY HUDSONS THEN TO TAP WORKS, AND FINISH EVERYTHING OFF AT MY FRATERNITY BROTHERS BAR, THE 3 MILE.
|
I am, I am!!! Since i can't be somewhere warm and fun for St. Patty's day - i'm hitting up the Chi-town irish pubs with some friends - can't wait :)
If anyone has pub/bar suggestions for this most festive occasion - please let me know :D Cheers! |
Why drink Green Bier? We set the amount of Kegs Tapped in one day at Pittsburg, Ks. Green Bier was gone in 1 1/2 hours or less!:(
Busted 365 Big Kegs in one Bar Day! Yea! Opened at 12:00 and Closed at 11:00! Oh, The Pittsburg State U. Gorillas were one of The Biggest Mascots on Playboy Web Site! Go Gus, Gorilla! My Main Ape! :D :) From One Irish Man, to all of the Irish Folk out There! Faith and Begora, Erin Goe Braless! :D |
IS THERE A HENRY HUDSONS IN YOUR STATE. THEY HAVE COIN GREEN BEER ALL NIGHT, AND NO COVER. TAP WORKS IS HAVING A SPECIAL TILL 11:00. I DONT KNOW IF THEY ARE IN YOUR STATE. OCONNELS IS FUN ON SAINT PADDYS DAY. IN MEMPHIS THER IS SILKY O'SULLIVANS, IT IS FUN YEAR ROUND BUT EXTRA ROWDY ON ST. PADDYS DAY. THEY HAVE DUALING PIANOS AND DIVER BUCKETS, WHICH IS A BIG BUCKET OF ALCOHOL WITH ABOUT 5 STRAWS IN IT. IT WILL MESS YOUR WORLD UP IF YOU DRINK IT BY YOURSELF.
|
i don't think i'll be doing anything tomorrow. sunday is the big st. patty's day parade in southie and i'll be heading to the bars there with friends. should be a good time.

Tapwerks isn't bad at all though. Something like 100 beers on tap there. Maybe there is something to that quantity=quality argument? |
Copied from the St. Patricks thread:
There's a new Celtic pub real close to our house. Think I'll drop in for a pint. Or a quart. A gallon? Just kidding, but I can walk home from there. When I was an undergrad, we were on Semesters and all of the bit schools around us (Ohio State, Michigan and others had their spring breaks over St. Pats. We didn't, so a lot of people (like thousands) would stop in Athens on their way to Florida or other destinations. Green beer and riots. That was St. Pats at Ohio University. I still contend that's why the university changed to quarters. Now the huge party is Halloween, and it's legend in Athens. |
There's an Irish pub in my home own and they always serve green beer. I've never tried it, but I have to now!

My friend leslie lives just a few blocks from there....damn it was the hotness. |
We've heard about green beer, but how much do you have to drink to get green #2?
|
I don't care if you're in Edmond or not, the place to be if you're in OK is O'Connells in Norman. I'll be there.

And please keep all St. Patrick's Day related posts in green. Carry on. |
Might knock back a few Sullivan family style Irish Car Bombs (Boilermakers for those who know them that way). Either way, I will be hugging my Guiness for a good part of the day. Screw green beer, the real Irish drink Guiness :)

GP has a McIrish last name. GP goes to a Catholic school. The bars at said Catholic school have names like "Murphy's" "Conway's" "Caffery's" "Hegarty's" and whatnot. The GP will not be behaving tomorrow, but she will be 21 for a day. ;)

My Irish Blessing-May you always have work for your hands to do. May your pockets hold always a coin or two. May the sun shine bright on your windowpane. May the rainbow be certain to follow each rain. May the hand of a friend always be near you. And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...natur/sun1.gif An Irish curse! "May the curse of Mary Malone and her nine blind illegitimate children chase you so far over the hills of Damnation that the Lord himself can't find you with a telescope." http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...l/evil_lol.gif |
IT IS SNOWING HERE. A LOT.
But as long as I get a Guinness tonight I'll be happy! |

GP, my fraternal grandmother's name was Mary Edith McCombs and my late step mother was born in Dublin. |
dang... i'm in the process of moving so i don't know if i have time to hit up a local pub. but there has been talk of ditching work early and going to "streets of london." We have an "o'mally's" here too but it's probably going to be packed.
And i am not one for super dark beer. So maybe i will just add the food coloring. |

Beautiful name, McSomething! Kidding. The jacket I wear every St. Pats day is from O'Halloran's Tiperary Pub in Detroit. It was a gift from the owners Tommy and Kathleen O'Hallaran 22 years ago when I left Detroit TV to move to Denver. It was just a great little Cop and TV bar on the Southfield Freeway. I don't know if it's still there, and I think I heard that Kathleen has passed away -- but what great memories. With all the cops there after work, it gave the term Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms a whole new meaning. ETA that it's still there! Here's a link: http://www.ohalloranstipperarypub.com/ This is so cool! If you look at the pic galleries unter "Tommy's birthday party," on the fifth page, I'm pretty sure that the woman in the blue is Robbie Timmons, an anchor at WXYZ-TV. When I was there, she was at WJBK, where I worked when it was a CBS station. The big guy in the yellow shirt, I think, it Jim Branstatter, Robbie's husband who worked at WDIV and is still (again, I think) radio voice of the University of Michigan football broadcasts. I'll bet they'll be there tonight after the 11PM News! |
Not doing the green beer but we'll have *truly* traditional black-and-tans in the Duncan house tonite. No green food dye for us.
(FYI - black-and-tan = Bass on the bottom, Guinness on the top, and yes, the layers stay separated.) Adrienne :) |
I'm ready for green beer but I don't think I'll be having any tonight :(
No one to party with tonight. Oh well. |
I am so ready to get my ass out of my house and go to the bar...I wish Mr. AOX81 would hurry up and get home!!!!
|
I wish I was in Chicago right now....
