Favorite beauty products

This topic may have been discussed before, but I don't feel like searching.

What are the beauty/cosmetic products you can't live without?

Here's my list:

Clinique pressed powder

Victoria's Secret lotion--Love Spell, Vanilla Lace and Body by Victoria

Almay Cool Effects eye shadow--cheap but really the only stuff I've found that doesn't crease.

Wet and Wild lip glosses--also cheap but so shiny and pretty.

MAC lipglass

Kiel's lip balm--Rosebud Salve is great too

Calvin Klein Obsession

Neutrogena Acne-Free face wash

Herbal Essences

OPI nail polish

DZPrincess2003 03-14-2004 10:50 PM

Revlon Shine Control pressed powder!! They discontinued it and I have now been buying it at any store I see it in. I have 5 stockpiled so far and still looking!

KillarneyRose 03-14-2004 11:34 PM

I have a ton of makeup, but most of the time I buy it,wear it a few times and it ends up either at the back of my drawer or in my daughters' playroom. My good old standbys, though, are:

Origins Just Browsing in Brunette
Philosophy Supernatural Lash Darkener
BeneFit Dandelion used as blush
MAC liptint spf 15

OtterXO 03-14-2004 11:40 PM

I agree with Rosebud Salve for lips! My other favs are:
Chanel Double perfection foundation
MAC eyeshadows and brushes-they last forever!
Shiseido face products-esp the moisturizer
Juicy Tubes in berry bold
Jergens body lotion-cheap and smells good!

XOMichelle 03-15-2004 02:43 PM

I'm still looking for a good powder, and a blush color I really like but the products I like are:

Estee Lauder Foundation- It's got a pink undertone, so most people can't wear it, but I just happen to be very pink, so the color matches me well. It covers, but is light, it's not too expensive and it has SPF 15. perfect!

Mascara- I like Great Lash and the Clinique Mascara. Greatlash is cheaper.

MAC liquid liner with liner brush- It's a little hard to apply at first, but after a while you can do it easily. A lot easier, and less messy than other liquid liners with tubes and thick brushes. I love this stuff!

Shadow: Any good color, really. I like powder eyeshadows the best. I have a Laura Mercier kit that has a great shimmery brown.

I third or fourth the MAC Lipglass!

oh oh!! I forgot, the best concealer I've found is a liquid Maybeline concealer. Good color, cheap and it sticks!

veemers 03-15-2004 07:12 PM

That's the only thing I HAVE to have, but I love everything I've ever bought from http://www.beeswork.com/. I also adore the lotions from http://www.jilljordan.com/.

chideltjen 03-15-2004 07:32 PM

Frutis deep conditioner (it smells really good too)

B&BW pumpkin facial mask (also smells really good)

Origins Perfect World Series

Origins Balance Lotion (made with H20 and not oils=no breakouts)

Origins Spot Remover (noticing a trend here?)

Estee Lauder shadows. i dunno the color names, but it's a deep purple and pink.

Clinique Happy Heart

Matrix Smooth Lite Hair Straightening Cream

Paul Mitchell anything.

*yeah yeah... high maintence i know...

ladyj39 03-15-2004 07:45 PM

I just went to Sephora!

*I agree with MAC Lipglass!

*MAC eyeshadows (especially Vex and Hush)

*Urban Decay eyeshadows (Mildew and Goddess)

*Paula Dorf Foundation (perfect for dry, sensitive skin)

*Smashbox Lip Stain in 24 (makes me look like I just ate a cherry popsicle!) :D

*Almay Skin Stays Clean powder (so smooth!)

*Victoria's Secret Dash me a Line eye pencil in Silver Lining (for those days I just don't have time, I swipe a line on each eye and I'm done!)

*L'Oreal Sky High Curves Mascara in Waterproof Black for everyday

*Bourjois Coup de Theatre False Lash Illusion - Duo Mascara for going out

Can you tell I love makeup? :D

aephi alum 03-15-2004 08:15 PM

I'm not a big one on beauty products. Until recently, I washed my face with Ivory soap... then I started watching Queer Eye and realized the error of my ways :p

So I'd go with:
- Clinique skin care line
- Clinique and MAC eyeshadow
- Cinnabar perfume
- A lipstick I found a few years ago, called "Mood Matcher" or something like that. It's brightly colored in the tube (green, blue, etc) but goes on red or pink... supposedly it changes color according to your mood. I like it not because of the color thing, but because it stays on all day, even if you eat or drink... only downside... removing it at the end of the night! And the fact that hardly anyone carries it.

AlphaGamDiva 03-15-2004 08:31 PM

revlon color stay liquid eyeliner....the best ever...hands down. i've used 'em all, and this is the best for application. :)

the new oil of olay face wash.....it's in a blue and white tooth paste lookin tube......my skin has never really given me problems, but this winter, my skin has dried out!!! i started using this stuff followed by their moisturizer....and WOW.....hate to sound like a cheesie commercial, but my skin is now silky and smooth, and my make-up goes on perfectly! love it!

bath and body works hand exfoliator.....silk ppl....skin=silk

NYC brand lip gloss....super cheap at ye ol wal-mart....but it has great "high priced" colors (i bought a lip gloss pod at victoria's secret that was fabulous, but $15.....i am poor....don't have $15 to spend on lip gloss.....even though it's worth it). found the same color (just not as creamy) in the cheapie brand....get tons o' compliments! :)

saint ives facial exfoliator in apricot........loooooove this once a week!

fructis deep conditioner is also fabulous....made my hair uber shiney!

UKDaisy 03-15-2004 11:31 PM

Oh how I love these threads!!!!!

my favorite list has changed since I've become a Mary Kay consultant..... but currently I'm all about:

- Mary Kay Bronze eyeliner - brings out blue eyes like no other! I love this!!!!!

-Mary Kay Cheek color in Nutmeg - I can not wear too "pinkish" or too "orangeish" colors....but somehow this color is just right!

- Mary Kay nail polish - I am very into nail polish! But my Maybelline always, always chips off! Not trying to plug Mary Kay too much - but I did my nails and my toe nails over a week ago and it is still on and shiny!! I'm like mega hard on my nails so thats really amazing!!!!

- Victoria's Secret - Love Spell!!! I live by this scent!

- Dove Body Exfoilator - its a huge liquid bottle of Dove that exfoilates and moisturizes!! You'll have super soft skin!!

- Big Sexy Hair products/Healthy Sexy Hair products - I love this entire line! And the leave in Healthy Sexy Hair condition is awesome, especially for limp, fine hair!

KEEP IT COMING GIRLIES!!!! :D

Taualumna 03-15-2004 11:39 PM

sairose 03-16-2004 12:27 AM

MelodyCat 03-16-2004 05:00 PM

Lush Trichomania shampoo and Veganese conditioner - my hair has never been happier than with this combo.

alphagambaby 03-16-2004 07:34 PM

-Lolita Lempicka perfume... the BEST stuff ever! it smells like cotton candy, and it's all I've worn for about 2 years now

-Benefit Pineapple Facial Polish... it smells so good, i just want to eat it... plus, it literally makes my skin glow

-Prescriptives Magic liquid powder... the coolest stuff... it's 70% liquid so it goes on feeling wet and leaves you all shimmery and sheer but with flawless skin

-Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion... it's the only moisturizer that doesn't make my skin feel greasy or weighted down

-got2b straightening balm... it comes from any old drugstore, but it's wonderful, at least for my hair, and it's not too heavy

-Bare Escentuals powder in Warmth... I was a little skeptical about this stuff, but my mom ordered some and I stole this from her... it's like a bronzer you can wear year-round... it provides just the right amount of color, but isn't too overwhelming or too bronzing... it's just perfect!

-Lancome Definicils mascara

-red nail polish... my toes stay red all summer

-Burt's Beeswax lip balm or Benefit Dr. Feelgood lip balm... one of the two is with me at all times

-MAC brushes and eyeshadows

and this is a new development, but that new John Frieda stuff for brunettes is FABULOUS! especially the shine enhancing conditioner

MY FAVORITE!!

I use all the Clinque line for face care
Rimmel eyeshadow
Maybelline Lash Extension Mascara-Love that stuff, makes my lashes look sooooo long!
Body Shop cream blush
NYC black/turquoise eyeliner duo
NYC Kiss Gloss-I have like 3 different flavors of this stuff-it tastes yummy and is so shiny!
I am poor right now, so I have mostly the cheap stuff, but I usually use all Clinque makeup when I can afford to buy it!!
And I love NYC for inexpensive shimmery stuff-the shimmer cream eyeshadow in green is so awesome-it makes my eyes look so green and sexy.

adpiucf 03-16-2004 09:48 PM

Let me preface this by saying.... I'm POOR! I went from all MAC and Clinique in college... to this! The real world stinks!

L'Oreal SPF 15 Facial Moisturizer
L'Oreal Face Scrub

I use Neutrogena products like:
Oil Free Acne Wash & Body Wash
Foundation #50
Cinnamon Rasin blush

Clinique Like Mink Eyeshadow

Mary Kay bronzer, bronze or black eyeliner and blonde eyebrow pencil AND my fabulous makeup brush set by Mary Kay

Almay Mascara & nude lip liner

Cover Girl loose powder

sheer gloss in varying shades-- depends on my mood, I usually apply a lipstick and dilute with gloss.

Love Aveeno's body lotion

Clinique Happy is one of my favorite scents!

MrsMcCartney 03-17-2004 12:31 AM

I am really really hooked on Benefit's Dr. Feelgood.....makes your skin so smooth and makeup goes on like magic

Dior Addict lipstick

MAC glitter cream in Playmate Pink, I use it to highlight my cheekbones in lieu of blush and it is quite lovely

John Frieda's new Brilliant Brunette line

Jacqua Pumpkin Papaya mask and Buttercream Frosting Body Butter

I'm a lipstick junkie, so I have every brand, color and finish out there.....never met a lipstick I didn't like

Revlon Illuminance cream eyeshadows

I cannot find a mascara I am happy with.....I have long lashes but I like to really emphasize them.....I have tried them all.....any suggestions????

I really like Mary Kay's Endless Performance Mascara.

Everyone always seems to love Maybelline Great Lash - but it has never worked for me. I used to use L'Oreal Volum. Mascara, but it chunks kinda easy. I also have used Maybelline's Full n'Soft and the one that comes in a navy tube.

But I still really like the Endless Performance best. B/c I normally get mascara lines on my top eye lid for some reason at the end of the day, but with this I don't - it stays on magically!!!

XOMichelle 03-17-2004 12:52 PM

hey there!
Are you looking for stuff that doesn't chunk? I really liked the Clinique mascara, and my mom likes Alamay since it is really thin (more like a lash tint than anything else-- on a side note, that's why I think people like Greatlash, it's so thin at first, it can't chunk). I've found that the best way to get good mascara is to curl your lashes, never let the mascara get old and to apply it right. You can usually "fix" any kind of mascara by wiping some off the wand before you apply.
hope that helps!

Hi, I'm Sheila & I'm a makeup/bath products/hair care addict. :)

-Revlon Illuminance cream shadows (for nighttime)

-L'oreal Colour Fresco in Icy Spice

-Bonne Bell lip gloss

-L'oreal Touch On Colour - for a quick glow

-Back to Basics curl activating gel

-Dove Nutrium or Ivory Moisture Care body wash or Dial Shower Cream - super moisturizing so I don't have to use lotion if I'm in a hurry

-Vicky's Secret Vanilla Lace bath gel & lotion

I am in dire need of some new products! Problem is, I live in the boonies and there are no good upscale stores near me. Oh the local mall sells the normal, Clinique, Estee Lauder, etc. . . but I want my Prescriptives and MAC! Dammit, I have to drive all the way to Des Moines to get the good isht.

That being said:

* Aveda Rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner
* Prescriptives concealer
* Prescriptives Magic powder
* Bonnie Bell LipLix glosses in espressoyourself and go berry wild
* MAC lipglass
* Burt's Bees lip balm
* Avoplex hand lotion
* Escada collection perfume - A friend gave me a little sample of this and I am hoarding it. I love it for special wear
* Lately I've also been using St. Ives whipped silk and body firming lotions and have been fairly pleased with them! They have an nice, fresh smell and don't leave me feeling overly greasy

I'm in desperate need of new eyeshadows and blush but want to go to Des Moines to get any--hmm, we're going there this weekend. Any suggestions? I have very fair skin (yellow/orange family for Prescriptives), medium brown hair and brown eyes.

ladyj39 03-17-2004 04:03 PM

Are you subscribed to Makeup Alley ? It's great! They have product reviews and pictures!

I just started my new job with Estee Lauder today, so I'll have to try these!! I haven't really used Estee Lauder in the past, but I figure that I will probably begin using ore Estee Lauder products...especially since I will be receiving lots of samples!! When I interviewed they said there were lots of perks!

Intense1920 03-31-2004 01:04 PM

I don't use many cosmetics but right now I am hooked on The Body Shop's Body Butters. I have Nut and Blueberry and I love them sooo much. :D

gphiangel624 04-01-2004 02:34 AM

Glad to know I'm not the only person on here who uses just about anything and everything but MAC (not that I don't love their stuff, I'm just not the greatest at using those colors correctly! It sucks being so pale...).

Ok, here goes...

- BeneFit Dandelion
- BeneFit Showoffs (esp. Jacki, Cooki, Icing, and Bambi)
- BeneFit Babe-Cake in Sophia as eyeliner... use a thin brush that's damp and it goes on so smoothly and it's gorgeous... I get tons of compliments.
- Burts Bees Herbal Blemish stick (tea tree oil works wonders on my skin!)
- Origins Make a Difference skin rejuvenator (I dont even need moisturizer when I use this and my skin is so soft)
- Maybelline Full n Soft mascara
- Maybelline shine free loose powder
- Loreal Wear Infinite eyeshadow quads... this stuff stays all day long, no creasing
- Lipsweets gloss in Tequila Sunrise... I've only found it at Planet Beauty in Ontario Mills... it's amazing, anyone else know where else you can find it?!
- Lancome Juicy Tubes in Bonfire
- Clinique lipgloss in Crystal and Airkiss
- Biosilk Silk Therapy (best thing in the world for any kind of hair!)
- Paul Mitchell Extra Body Daily boost spray
- Aussie Scrunch Spray
- Aussie Hair Insurance leave-in conditioner
- Emporio Armani fragrance (I can't smell it but everyone I meet loves it on me)
- Working hands cream from RiteAid... it feels gross at first, but gets rid of cracked, water-damaged hands (and feet!) I get from work.
- Aveeno exfoliating facewash

Wow, this makes me realize how much stuff I really dont want to live without!
