-361 times Pitt got PHUCKED by the committee. 1 shot makes the difference between a 1 and a 3 seeding? Oh yeah, i'm pissed :)

You SOOOO just watched the CBS special. ;)

But yeah, you should be happy, i think y'all ended up in one of the less competitive brackets. Y'all's biggest competition is OSU, i think St. Joes will win one, then be done when they face either Texas Tech or Charlotte.

course, just as a sports fan, i'd like to see them lose to Liberty, so i could say that i remember seeing a #1 seed losing to a #16 seed in my lifetime ;)

That and I watched the game last night at a Damon's full of Pitt fans. We were all really pissed. But I'm not too scared of the bracket, I need to do some reading before I make my picks.

Should be a fun tourney....

Check out the ESPN bracketology special on right now.

God, this time of year always sucks as an Aggie Basketball fan.

I'm so in, because although I freaking 45 minutes from Nationwide Arena, tickets SOLD OUT LAST YEAR. No tickets = hysterically sobbing Kentucky fanatic. Anyone got any Columbus tickets they don't want?

Dani, I completely agree with your 361 reasons why Pitt was completely screwed by the selection committee. What a joke. Is our date for April 5th still on? I plan to be there :)

sugar and spice 03-14-2004 09:03 PM

The Big 10 got screwed. I love how Wisconsin BASHED Illinois today but was still ranked below them (and at least two spots lower than any of the commentators predicted) . . . All the TV guys were pissed about the Big 10 getting only three teams and ranked 5-6-7 at that.

Wisconsin should have been a four-seed or at least in another bracket. Illinois is going to roll because they'll face off against Murray St. and Cincy instead of Pitt. But I think we could at least give Pittsburgh a run for their money, since we're stellar at home and Milwaukee is almost as good as home. An upset wouldn't be out of the question.

I feel bad for Utah St.; they were something like 25-3 and didn't make it. No matter how easy your schedule is that's still pretty impressive.

AEPhiSierra 03-14-2004 09:54 PM

I am sooo in the pool. March Madness is my sports passion. I am working on my brackets right now!

AlphaSigOU 03-14-2004 10:00 PM

OK, I'm in.

mommag2 03-15-2004 12:55 AM

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO IN ! I LOVE March Madness.

my Final Four :

Arizona, Gonzaga, Texas Tech and Standford.....with Arizona & Gonzaga in FIinal winner = Arizona

I know it probably sounds like a long shot , but hey my shot to take.

Thanks for setting up the group Kitso !!!!;) :D

sugar and spice 03-15-2004 03:11 AM

Here's an article acknowledging how much my Badgers got screwed, which I am posting because I'm still bitter.

http://sports-att.espn.go.com/ncb/nc...ory?id=1759802

For those of you filling out your brackets ;) . . . Dick Vitale agrees that Wisconsin should have been ranked much higher and lists them as a "sleeper" pick but with a lineup that likely will go Richmond-Pitt-Oklahoma State just to make it to the Elite Eight -- I'm not holding my breath.

I also think Duke is incredibly overrated.

I always forget how much I love March Madness.

valkyrie 03-15-2004 03:28 AM

I'm in too. I've been eating breathing and sleeping NCAA basketball this past week. I think I'm going with UConn to take the whole thing, but I might change my mind tomorrow.

UConn is tough, but a lot depends on how healthy they stay. Okafor played in the BE Tourny Final against Pitt, but wasn't 100%. Villaneuava didn't play. Good thing for the Huskies is that they have so much time to recover, but if they get hurt, could make it a lot harder for the Huskies. Ben Gordon's a monster though.

My dream matchup: Pitt-UConn for the National Championship. We both took one game during the regular season, UConn won the tourney by one hoop. Pitt would be out for revenge. That would be an awesome game :)

wreckingcrew 03-15-2004 12:06 PM

Just put my picks in.

Sorry dani, but i had to go with Oklahoma State to beat Pitt and come out of that region :D I've got Kentucky, OSU, Duke and UConn in the FInal four, with Kentucky beating UConn to take the whole thing.

Course, like valkyre, i may change mine later. I do know that i'm not gonna pick with my heart like i did last year and pick Duke to win it all. This way, if they lose i won't be too upset, but if they win it all, i'll still be happy. We'll see if they can get past AZ in that possible second round matchup.

Mark me down with Billy Packerd of CBS as a St. Joe's hater. Yeah, you may do great against the A10, and the A10 may be a decent basketball conference, but i can't in good conscience pick them over a team that came out of the Big XII or Pitt. Especially Tech, which played the top teams in the Big XII tough.

sigtau305 03-15-2004 01:50 PM

I'm all set. let the games begin.

GeekyPenguin 03-15-2004 02:34 PM

I am joining, and sugar and spice will be pleased to know that since my beloved Golden Eagles will be in the NIT this year instead, it's ON WISCONSIN and anybody playing Duke.

valkyrie 03-15-2004 02:58 PM

I love people who hate Duke.

dude,

i was being serious.

I have a man-crush on Coach K. The man is probably one of the greatest coaches on and off the court in the history of college basketball.

And he's a very above-average human being to. A great role model for youn coaches.

Kitso
KS 361 times he is the Yin to Bob Knight's Yang.

shadokat 03-15-2004 03:29 PM

I'm done and in. I pick Pitt to win it all....I call a Pitt vs. Maryland final. Did you see Maryland beat NC State and Duke this weekend? Go TERPS!! I'm a huge Syracuse fan, but without Melo and Edelin, we're out in Round 2.

I agree but I also like Knight. Along with UCLA's Wooden, I am astounded by their abilities. Duke has definitely elevated K to celebrity status and I think he deserves it.

shadokat 03-15-2004 03:32 PM

Rudey & Aggie, you both need to go read why Geek is Chic in SI this month. They go on about Coach K and Jim Boeheim and how they're so dorky, but everyone loves em. It's a great article...I think there's also a bit about Childress from Stanford.

I didn't say i don't like Bobby Knight, just he and Coach K's reputations are polar opposites.

However, for all the flack around Bobby K, his graduation rates at Indiana were always good and he has re-energized the program at Tech. I think you've got to be a mentally tough individual to play for Bobby, and if you're mentally tough, he can get you to excel physically.

I'd love to have him or Coach K patrolling the sidelines at my alma mater, i don't think you could go wrong. I would choose Coach K though, he has had more recent success than Bobby.

Kitso
KS 361 times i'd let my son play for either, but chances are if he's my kid, he's not gonna have the skillz to play past 9th grade

I'll check it out. I think Stanford holds some strange title like all the players graduate in 4 years...or they all graduate and no other school can claim that. I'm impressed by things like that.

I wonder what the stats are on hot schools like gonzaga and st joe.

Now if we want to talk about a bad coach, I'd nominate Minnesotta's Haskins.

shadokat 03-15-2004 03:53 PM

Bad coach = Jim Harrick, hands down!

Lol . I agree. He did too much illegal crap to try to make Georgia win and the fans care about something more than football.

mommag2 03-15-2004 06:56 PM

Hey AggieSigmaNu361,

I totally agree with you about Coach K, except that I have serious GIRL Crush on him. He is a class act and if get to Durham before he retires, I will be knocking on his office to door to finally meet one of the greastest if not the greastest active coach in college hoops today. Coach K kind of reminds me of Jimmy V in the way that he sincerely cares for his players and their families.

Have you read his book Leading wit the Heart ? Great book

:( I MISS JIMMY V.

By women's pool I assume you mean the women are gonna pick brackets for men's basketball right? Because picking women's brackets would be about as fun as genital herpes.

You assume wrong, Rudith, seeing as though Marquette's men team is playing right now in the Not Invited Tournament, and thus is not in the NCAA. However, the Lady Golden Eagles realized that we are not supposed to suck at basketball, and so I want to pick them to win. :p

As someone who played basketball throughout high school, I gotta admit that while playing is fun, watching women's basketball isn't that exciting!! I even got bored watching BC beat UConn during the big east tourney, and that was HUGE for them. Good one though, Rudey. Best of luck to you Marquette fans...did they win in the NIT last night? :D

WE DID. We took those Rockets and sent them back to Toledo. :D

I really can't wait to see how awful my NCAA picks end up, I just went with fun logic, like does the school have a Gamma Phi chapter, do I want to go to law school there, how that state voted in the last election...very random. :D
