Famous brothers of Alpha Phi Omega

Wassup! I know I said that I wasn't going to post anything else on here but I wanted to know if we could come up with an updated list of famous members of Alpha Phi Omega. I am looking for entertainers, politicians, athletes, etc. Help me out if you can. Thanks and have a good one.

So far I already know of William Jefferson Clinton and I heard that the R&B song artist Brian McKnight is. I am not sure though so help me out with this one PLEASE?

While I am always glad to hear of all our distinguished alumni, keep in mind that the list of distinguished alumni primarily involve those in business or government. It only lists 1 or 2 alumni who were in sports and no mention at all for those in entertainment.

As far as Brian McKnight being a brother, I have heard stories of comedian Bernie Mac being a brother, the rap group 69 Boyz being brothers (the fact that one of their CD album covers/liners is in blue and gold adds to the curiosity), O.J. Simpson, Lionel Richie, the list goes on and on.

Short of calling the National office, your best bet would be to go to the Membership Database at the National Website and look it up for yourself.

Hope this helps

See this is some great information to find out. We can use this for our various chapter webpages and also for a way to recruit new members into the fold. I would have gone on the National Webpage Membership Directory, but for some odd reason it does not work for me. Thanks for the info and keep it coming. :)

Who the f%#@ is Bob Love?

I've recieved this question from pledges and brothers alike. He was a star player and the top scorer for the Chicago Bulls in the 1970s (before M.J.). Nicknamed "Butterbean", he was named an NBA All-Star 3 times.

Bob Love

While its a little strummed up in terms of inviting him as a speaker, take a look at http://www.sterlingspeakers.com/love.htm

It talks about his life, from the NBA to waiting tables and back again. Fascinating.

It doesn't work for me either, I tried contacting them and they never got back to me.....

membership directory

If what doesn't work is the actual login, let me try to help with the instructoins. The user name is your first initial and last name, so for a brother named randolph finder, the user name is rfinder. Your password is your brotherhood number and for anyone on this list, it is a 6 digit number, probably starting with a 2. (brother who intitiated in the last year or so will start with a 3, brothers who are more than 15 years as a brother will start with a 1.) Its on your brotherhood card fromthe national office.

Let me know if you continue to have problems...

But how active are they?

Does anyone know how active these famous alumi are? I'm assuming there's a very small chance that I'll see any of them in Colorado this December...

Brain Mcknight is not a brother, Luke is not a brother, Mr. Richie is not a brother. OJ is not a brother, no one from the 69 boyz is a brother ( i know 69 boyz personally). If there not on the website it is more then likely that they are not a brother, also there is one question i do have, is Bill cosby a brother, i know that last year the temple chapter made him a name sake, and if he is a brother is he undergrad or honorary?

Senusret I 07-28-2004 02:38 PM

Bill Cosby is a Que. :)

Temple University is inactive. There has been extension there in the past, but not currently.

Bumping.

The Alpha Phi Omega Wikipedia page has a list of famous alumni and famous honorary Brothers. (Mu Chapter has an honorary brother. I never knew that!)

Carson Kressley from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is on this list. I remember reading an article about him where he mentioned APO. :)

Yes, some of us might have helped a little. :) (check out the history)

BTW, I just added that the Chief Judge of Maryland's Highest Court is an alumnus of Mu Gamma chapter of APO.

Currently as of today...
10 U of the Philippines - Diliman (Eta - Phil)
10 National Honorary (USA)
9 Georgetown U. (Mu Alpha - USA)
7 U of Utah (Iota Psi - USA)
6 Auburn U (Delta - USA)
5 Lafayette C (Alpha - USA)
...

(Yes, U of Utah seems a little odd, but when they had a good number of notable people become honorary brothers when they chartered.)
