Where would you like to see Theta colonize/recolonize?
Thetas,
Where would you like to see a Theta chapter colonized or recolonized? I'm a southern nut :) I would like to see Theta eventually recolonize at University of Tennessee-Knoxville, University of South Carolina, Auburn University, University of Arkansas, Wake Forest............ I dont know if we'd had a chapter previous at Arkansas State, but I'd like to see us there as well :) oh and UNC :) I'm adding Mississippi State to this list as well :) |
I'd love to see you guys recolonize at Pitt!
If the numbers stay up, that may happen in a few years, and you'd probably have first dibs because you still have the house! |
Hijack
The house here has furniture that came from the UNC chapter when it closed. Two wing back chairs that we have since recovered with a very chic palm tree print.
Sorry - that's a random thought. |
My chapter (Eta Lambda) at Santa Clara University was just chartered this past fall (2003). I was initiated a few weeks ago as part of our 50 girl Beta class. I'm so glad Theta keeps on expanding, and that it has touched my life. I'd love to see it go to the smaller UCs and Cal State schools.

Awesome! Welcome to the sisterhood :) |
I'd love to see Theta back at my chapter, Alpha Iota at WashU in Missouri. The Mizzou chapter is so incredibly strong and there's a lot of alums in St. Louis, but no collegiate chapter! (I doubt that'll happen though, because the chapter's already been recolonized once. Sigh) Barring that, St. Louis U (which would be a new chapter), because it's also a good school with, from what I've seen, pretty awesome greek life. (KD, GPhiB, DG, ADPi, and SK)
I'm cosigning with ThetaPrincess on the Southern chapters, plus these other recolonizations: Sigma, Toronto (the first Canadian NPC chapter ever!) Epsilon Kappa at Dartmouth (we have almost every Ivy league school covered!) Gamma Kappa at George Washington (because hey, we need more sorority women in the capitol) Epsilon Chi at Guelph (I love Canadian chapters ;) ) And, this is kind of odd, I'd like to see a Theta chapter at every school with both a Pi Phi and a Kappa chapter. Don't ask why, I'm not sure I could explain it ;) |
Theta was never at Arkansas State-they have Chi O and Alpha Gam thats about it
|
I want to see y'all back at the U of Arkansas and Auburn--I had many good friends in both chapters.

No need to explain........I know why and I agree with you! ;) |
Hi Girls...
Please excuse the crash, but I wanted to express my thanks to your lovely organization.
The University of Idaho Alpha Gams just had their 100th Anniversary International Reunion Day celebration the first weekend in April. The campus was overrun with squirrels old and young everywhere :). One part of the reunion was a campus tour on the trolley. The ladies in the newly re-colonized Kappa Alpha Theta chapter were so gracious to let us Alpha Gams see their new beautiful house. What a treasure! I also wanted to tell you that I am glad that Thetas are back on the Idaho campus. It has been a long time coming since they were looking to recolonize when I went through rush in 1990. Best wishes to all of you Thetas! In Panhellenic Spirit and Sisterhood! |
I've been hearing that Theta will be returning to Auburn within the next year. I hope it's true because it would be wonderful to have them return!

I recently rushed at Auburn this past fall and I withdrew...(a long story...)anyways, I think that Theta at Auburn would be a great opportunity for all of the girls that withdrew or were released from recruitment due to not being asked back to any sororities...and we know there were a lot of them. But I was wondering if anyone knew how the rush for this sorority will be done in the spring?
|
At this time there are no plans as far as I know to recolonize at Auburn.
I hope that we do at some point, but it is up to the panhellenic there to invite us to come back and up to the people in charge of extension at HQ to decide if it is in the fraternity's best interest. I've never been close to a colonizing chapter so I dont know how the girls are chosen that choose to rush a new chapter on campus. |
Well, as far as I know, and from what I hear from my recruitment counselor, she has told me that at the Panhellenic meetings, they have told her that Theta is coming back in the spring. I dont know how rush for them will go, but I do know that they're going to be there.

Well, thanks for everything! and AUDeltaGam, or anyone, if they here something about Theta at Auburn, lemmie know! :)
|
We're looking for a national, and we're looking at Kappa Alpha Theta seriously. We're at Lyon, here in in Batesville, AR. We're small, but hopefully we'll find someone!!
|
Best of Luck with that!!!!!
|
Sorry for crashing, but I'd like to echo kddani's thought: once Pitt's sororities stabilize, Theta needs to return! It's just not the same without Theta!
|
Bumping this thread to see if anyone has changed their minds since their last post and for new members to this forum to respond :)
In addition to my list at the beginning of this thread, I would also like to see Theta colonize at the following universities in the state of Kentucky (because I live here!): Western Kentucky University University of Louisville Transylvania University Georgetown College Bellarmine University Northern Kentucky University |
Auburn
I was a KAO at Auburn graduating in 1998. I hope that Theta recolonizes but fixes some problems that were happening when I graduated. We kept getting on social probation for making like a 3.0 AVG but the ASA was a 3.2 or something so the entire sorority got put on social probation and had to cancel all parties previously planned with other sororities and fraternities. I wish they could have just not let those not making grades not go. Well It screwed us over with the rest of the greek organizations and new members and even old members got tired of paying dues and not getting any socials- so many quit and therefore we had money problems. We had great girls but lost many of them for these stupid reasons that our advisors could have prevented). We had one of the most down to earth welcoming sisters at Auburn and I hope that will continue (without regional advisors sending down death sentences on socials which what led to our decolonization)
I talked with someone at nationals and my name is on the list to help out with any recolonization efforts. I want to bring Theta back with lots of support of alum to make it at such a competitive place like AU. WAR EAGLE And hopefully Well be back!!! |
Grades are always a tricky issue. So are finding competent advisors with priorities where they should be and an ABC that works with the entire board on all issues pertaining to the chapter instead of only with a few advisors and keeping the rest in the dark about everything else (except on issues that pertained only to their office).
I want to see us back at Auburn badly!!! :) |

What is Kite & Key? I'm assuming it has something to do with Kappa, but we dont have a Kappa chapter on my campus. |
It's just an event to celebrate that Theta and Kappa were founded in the same year. Some chapters have a formal, others semi-formals, still others do philanthropy together. My chapter has a theme party at a venue in town and our Greek Advisor loves it.
|
That sounds so cool! :)

UVa
I'm looking for information regarding Delta Chi chapter at UVa. I found their website. I fear the UVa chapter might be inactive as the info hasn't been updated in some time. My daughter is a high school junior and is visiting UVa, W&L, W&M, Richmond, Vandy, UNC, Emory and more. I want her to also visit the Theta chapters when we visit each campus.
|
I would contact HQ about that chapter. They will have the most current contact information available for you.

Trying (along with ThetaPrincess24) to get us back on topic...
Where would I like to see us colonize? Hmmm... How about a campus in the University of Hawai'i system? Manoa (near Waikiki) is the largest and oldest campus in the UH system so I guess that would be my pick. According to a UH Manoa website AGD has a chapter but that seems to be the only NPC group. There is 1 local sorority. As for IFC, there is TKE and KappaSig. Plus 1 local fraternity. Maybe their Greek system is ripe for expansion? Not that it should be the only reason, but wouldn't it be nice for our ELCs, Grand Council and District officers to do chapter visits in Hawai'i? It would be the most coveted chapter visit! :-) And they would probably be in District VII (where I am) so it's possible that DLC might be in Hawai'i at some point. Besides location, I mention Hawai'i for a couple personal reasons. I was born in Honolulu (I'm a Navy Junior), but only lived there 2 years. I have been back a couple times and it is so wonderful. Also one of my dearest 'mature' Theta alum friends was a President of the Honolulu Alumnae Club back in the late 60s or early 70s. I am sure she would be tickled pink to see Theta colonize in Hawai'i. While I'm at it, why don't we colonize in Alaska too? TriSigma was the first NPC group in Alaska in 1993 (not that long ago!) at UA Fairbanks. And according to the school's website it is the only NPC sorority there. TriSig and another NPC, Alpha Sigma Alpha, have chapters at UA Anchorage and I believe Phi Sigma Sigma does too. Now you have it...my quasi-fantasy votes for Hawai'i and Alaska! This is a fun topic ThetaPrincess24! Thanks! |
I am the ABC for the Beta Epsilon chapter at Oregon State and would love to see the Alpha Xi chapter at University of Oregon, (where I was initiated), recolonize. U of O has experienced increased numbers in recruitment and are now getting pledge classes between 30-35 (in 1997 when Alpha Xi closed, average pledge class size was 17.)
Alpha XI had a rich history at Oregon 80+ years before closing its doors in 1997, its been 10 years, its time for a comeback! |
Has the U of Oregon recently added any NPC sororities?
|
Not yet!! I wish!! Tridelt and Sigma Kappa left sometime between 1998 and 2000. Its time for a return for sure!!!! Its sad to see the houses on greek row turn into co-ops.
(FYI Theta was at U of O for 87 years!!! SO much history!) |
