Who would perform in your OWN ultimate Music Festival.

OK since I am getting so excited about Bonnaroo, I got to think about what I would consider the ultimate music festival! Mine would go something like this:
In random order:

Pearl Jam

Dave Matthews Band
Josh Kelley
Robert Randolph and the Family Band
Outkast
Gomez
Radiohead
Mazzy Star
Jason Mraz
U2
Jack Johnson
North Mississippi Allstars
Phil Collins
Ben Harper
John Coltrane
Britney Spears
Nelly
P. Diddy
Stan Getz
Billy Joel
Paula Cole

Jimmy Buffett
Coldplay
Pink Floyd
Ben Folds
Cory Morrow
Michelle Branch
Beck
David Gray
Better than ezra
Chris Isaak
Ingram Hill
Madonna
Percy Sledge
Willie Nelson
Teitur

I know that's a lot of acts, but how awesome would this be? I know it would NEVER happen though.

Correct. That list was a list from another message board I post on that I copied and pasted...I thought I deleted all the dead ones...in that case, I will remove Stan Getz as well. Oops.. OK, now, lets stick to live artists.

AXO Alum 03-04-2004 10:43 AM

heehee - my own ultimate music festival would be to own a yacht - and in the back on the deck would be several seats. On the port side, we would have Mr. Jimmy Buffett. On the starboard side, Mr. Billy Joel. And we would cruise away knowing that they were both there ready to perform at our request

This is after I win the 999,999,999,999,999.99 lottery :D
And of course you're all invited ;)

Yeah, a few of those bands are broken up, but they'll regroup for my festival. Don't worry.

I don't like Ben Kweller. JB stays. I'd also like to add 311 and Reel Big Fish to rock out 1996 style.

CardinalSM 03-04-2004 03:25 PM

My festival would include:

JOHN MAYER
Dave Matthews Band
Ryan Horne
Justin Timberlake
Britney Spears
Mariah Carey before she sucked
JOHN MAYER
Outkast
Buddy Jewell
Dixie Chicks
Tim McGraw
Faith Hill
Garth Brooks
Kenny Chesney
Sheryl Crow
JOHN MAYER
Everclear
Matchbox 20

John Mayer would get to perform more than once. :D

My OWN ultimate music festival? In no particular order...

The Beatles
Queen
Cheap Trick (they're doing the Star Spangled Banner, and will be around for multiple sets...because they are Cheap Trick!)
Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars
David Bowie (NO Tin Machine, ugh!)
ELO (the original thing, none of this ELO II stuff)
The Plastic Ono Band
John Lennon
George Harrison
Ringo Starr (solo and the 1st All Starr Band lineup)
Wings
Paul McCartney solo (multiple sets, thankyouverymuch!)
The Ramones
Blondie
AC/DC
Genesis (one set w/ Gabriel, one set without)
Duran Duran (multiple sets)
The Cure
No Doubt
Squeeze (with Paul Carrack, must play "Annie Get Your Gun")
The Who (with Keith Moon)
The Rolling Stones (with Brian Jones and Ronnie Wood)
U2
INXS
Adam and the Ants
Culture Club (all they have to play is "Victims". Seriously.)
Kelly Clarkson (and she must perform "Stuff Like That There" and "Low")
Pink Floyd (doing a complete "Dark Side" set)
Billy Joel
Elton John
Billy & Elton
Bon Jovi (eldest son's favorite band.)

and, for comic relief:

Just these would be fab too! I've seen OAR, Mraz and Rusted Root. The Dead headlined Bonnaroo last year but we left early because we couldn't wait any longer for a shower. They're also headling this year and I don't plan on missing it this year.

yeah..my list rules :) i've actually seen all of the bands on there except for simon & garfunkel, outkast, nsync and ari hest. i've seen the dead in their previous incarnation - "the other ones" a couple of years ago during the further festival. the only way to describe the vibe in the amphitheater after the show was euphoric. its certainly not the same as seeing the grateful dead.. but at this point its the closest we will come. definately make it a point to see them at the 'roo this year, you won't regret it :)

hottytoddy 03-04-2004 09:11 PM

Also..since everyone' broken the "not including dead artists" rule. I would like to add a handful of some of my favs that are no longer with us.

Jeff Buckley
The Beatles
John Coltrane
Sublime
Stan Getz
Nirvana
Tupac
