Cunilinguists?
I wanted to see how many languages all our Gc'ers speak? surely we have some linguists among us?
|
I thought this thread was about insightful people. You know, "cunning linguists."
Anyway, I just speak English. |
6 languages - 2 not as well as the other 4.
-Rudey --And I was thinking something totally dirty when I read this. |
as always, Rudey
|
Only English, I'm ashamed to admit. I really wish I was fluent in French and Italian. I can pretend I'm fluent in French, as long as I know the topic before hand and am not asked to speak much.
And I thought of something dirty when I saw the topic name too. |

English and I was fluent in Polish when I was a little kid but now I only remember a couple of prayers and some great cuss words.

That and the Alec Baldwin's "Sweatty Balls" NPR skit on SNL are some of the funniest episodes. |
3 languages. My French and Spaninsh have languished due to neglect though.
|
3: English, and I could survive in Europe on French and German.
My Spanish has weakened due to lack of use. |
In order of profiency:
English Hebrew Russian Latin and a tad of Spanish. ETA: Yiddish... but I can only speak it, I can't read it. |

ETA: ASL (American Sign Language) also, so I know 4.:) |

Does no one know any "computer languages"? ;)

I speak German enough not to kill myself in Europe, and I can understand HTML, C++, and Visual Basic. :)
(And I also thought of something dirty when I saw the title...) |
Ah James am I the only one who got this?:(
Oh, I do speak Earp Speak and English, not the King/Queens of course! Again James Nice Reverery and funny answers!;) OMG!:D |
I can speak Korean and just tiny bits of different languages such as Spanish since I took four years of it in high school.
|
English, Spanish and Italian.
Spanish and Italian are so similar, though, that I'm always mixing them up. |
Also, I speak the international language of love.

I speak Spanish passably, know a very small amount of Latin and Greek, and know a ridiculous amount of computer languages.
|
I speak English. I can read/translate some Italian, Latin, French, German, and Spanish. Also being that i grew up spending a lot of time in my friend's home(her family is Indian/Hindu) I can speak and understand some of their language (but I cant read it).
|
4 languages:
English French Japanese Hawaiian and 2 dialects (because they were always spoken at home): Ilocano Tagalog |

Fluent in Spanish (the Venezuelan dialect).
Understand French, Italian and Portuguese (I can get the gist of a conversation or a brief passage in a book or magazine.) Speak, read and understand enough German to start a barroom brawl, and just enough Russian to bring back the Cold War. :) |

Does anyone know ASL (American Sign Language)? I've been wanting to pick that up, as well as some Spanish, because I come across those a lot in the school system. The only languages I speak now are English and French.

English and "Franish" - a terrible mixture of French and Spanish, which thoroughly confuses the little Hispanic children I work with.;)
|
English, obviously...and French is my minor :)
|
English of course and fluent in Spanish.
|
English, Indonesian, Malay, Afrikaans and some Xhosa and zulu.
Trying to learn French and Korean. Korean is going much better then French. |
German and fluent in English
|
well lemme see..I can speak 2 fluently. I learned 3 other languages in classes. Out of the 3, I can understand but not speak 1, I can read the other 2 and know the basic words and conjugations(?sp). I plan on learning 2 more languages fluently.

I've learned a blend of ASL/SEE (Signed Exact English) sign language from my wife - "true" ASL as taught in school isn't necessarily what "deaf" people use to communicate - there are blends of the different sign languages available. |
