The Queen Latifah picture is not from this year's Oscars is it because I've seen her in that dress before.

AKA2D '91 03-01-2004 11:40 AM

No wonder her breastessss lookedded a lil big.

treblk 03-01-2004 12:23 PM

Niaomi (ms) looks very good, not too made up, but elegant.

serenity_24 03-02-2004 03:33 PM

I thought Julia Roberts' dress was amazing.

I still don't know what I think about Soror Jada's dress. I have to look at that picture again because on TV it looked weird I think.

WenD08 03-02-2004 05:16 PM

Uma Thurman looked a mess, i agree w/all the fashion critics who said so:rolleyes: Nicole Kidman looked fab. she made up for that disaster she wore at the Golden Globes.
question: was Queen Latifah at the Oscars? she was listed as a presenter but i don't recall seeing her.

Oscar nominations!!

I am soooo happy for Jamie Foxx!!!:D

dzfan 01-25-2005 03:13 PM

jamie foxx rocks! I am soo excited for him as well as sideways-great film.

The only one that seemed way out there was super size me-best documentary? Puh-lease I don't need some guy that stuffs his face to tell me that he gained a few lbs!

pointNclick 01-25-2005 04:44 PM

Not a huge fan of ANY of these award shows  BUT, with C-Rock hosting, I might just tune in :D.

pNc

Sidenote: I have heard RAVE reviews about "The Woodsmen" (with Kevin Bacon). I think it's release was a tad late to get an Oscar nod. I like KB as an actor and heard his performance was gripping. Sorry it is not in the mix of films this year. Would have made for even better competition.

BirthaBlue4 01-25-2005 08:46 PM

If Jaime gets BOTH best actor and best supporting, he would have a CORONARY, for real. But I dunno if they ready for all that :p

Ten/Four 01-25-2005 08:58 PM

Since he is nominated in both lead and supporting categories I think he'll win for supporting. He's going against heavy weights for lead. DiCaprio was nominated before for "Titanic" and didn't win so the Academy might lean towards him. Honestly I'm hoping Don Cheadle wins. He's a 100x better than DiCaprio.

Leo was not nominated for Titanic. He was nominated earlier in the 90s for his supporting role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

Now, how long ago did they annouce that Chris Rock would be hosting the Oscars? They knew about Chris' humor long enough to know that he says what he wants and when he pleases. I think they're just trying to stir something up.

Yep, it's called marketing. Now even more people will tune in to see how many times Chris gets bleeped. I know I will. LOL

I forgot that Johnny Depp (love him) was nominated until Charlize Theron went through the nominees list. I was nervous for a second because Johnny is good and was passed over last year.

I'm happy for Jamie, it was well deserved. I was torn though, because I like Don Cheadle as well. Don has great range and gives a great performance in each film...hopefully, Don will get another role soon that will enable him to bring home the Oscar.

I was pleased to see Morgan Freeman win.

Aside: What was the deal with the sound at the beginning of the show?....and, what was the deal with the stepchildren who had to sit in the back and were not allowed on stage to receive their award?

Halle looked WONDERFUL! I love the dress. Hillary Swank's dress was fab, as well. Prince looked better than I've seen him in like, 20 years. Bee and Jigga always look very nice.

I'm loving it that Jamie Foxx brought his daughter. She looked so happy!

Star's breastisisisis looked like they were about to pop out and say hi to the folks at home.

That's exactly how I felt. Jamie got the award for the role he deserved it for, and that's so important (unlike Denzel's... he should have gotten his BA years ago). It's kind of like the ushering in of the new generation of actors/black actors. I would have liked for Don to win, but Don is going to get his someday. (I hope!)

With the "stepchildren"... lol. I think I heard/read something about the producers wanting to give the show a more "youthful" feel to attract a younger audience, and so made some funky changes to the cinematography and arrangement to add interest.

AKA2D '91 02-28-2005 09:55 AM

Don's wife reminds me of Ce Ce Penniston!

I tuned in late. I missed Morgan Freeman. I'm glad he won!

Yay for Jamie, even though I was pulling for Don. Jamie thanked his 4'11 sister. He really just met her? I guess that's why they were down here in the casino "kicking azz" while he was filming Ray.

LOL @ his "first acting coach", his grandmother. LOL

Re: Pics from the Oscars 2005

Is Don Cheadle's wife the same woman that played in Rosewood with him?

I LOVE Regina King's dress!

I couldn't believe that after all of this time, this was Morgan Freeman's 1st Oscar win. I think he was nominated for best supporting for Glory but Denzel won for his role in Glory instead.

mightymouse94 02-28-2005 01:07 PM

I was so happy for Morgan Freeman. This actor has been nominated so many times, and he finally got what he deserved

Driving Miss Daisy
Shawshank Redemption
Glory
Lean on Me

This was a long time coming.

Jamie Fox's speech made me cry. Especially when he mentioned his grandmother.
"She talks to me in my dreams. I can't wait to go to sleep tonight becasue we will have alot to talk about"

CTFU about Starrah's bretasiz. Where was BGA? No, wait a minute, perhaps E! put the fear of God into her and she got him to stay out of the spotlight.

I like Jamie's daughter's ensemble. She looked like a little girl, including the ballet flats, not a miniature adult. That seems rare today. I HATE seeing preteens dressed like m

Oprah is veering into too-thin territory. She looks best, IMO, with some meat on her bones.

Bey-Z and Jay-Z look very coordinated. Jay still has an unfortunate camelish facial resemblance, but I liked the tux.

Here are pics of beautiful Tonya Lewis Lee and her husband, Shelton Jackson Lee. I dunno about Spike's Kangol:

Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson at the Vanity Fair party. I love that LaTanya busts stereotypes of what an A-list actor's wife looks like ;) :

Do you all remember in his Essence interview (I think) it was mentioned that the Mrs. was "conveniently" omitted from photos printed in magazines for this reason?

THAT AIN'T RIGHT!

Steeltrap 02-28-2005 03:02 PM

^^
I think I do remember that article. To discount Ms. Richardson is not cool, but unsurprising. I guess people think SLJ should be married to a non-AfAm woman or if she's AfAm, she should look like Halle or Ursssher's date.

Two things come to mind: 5/10/30 second delays and shocked people in the audience--specifically, older White attendants.
