NPC Badge Day
Don't know if this has already been posted. If it has, please forgive me!
March 1st is NPC International Badge Day. I hope everyone plans to participate by wearing their badge to work/school/where ever it is you go that day. Imagine how exciting it would be to arrive at work and "meet" fellow sorority women! |
I'm dressing up and wearing my Pin at work on this day. I'm excited about it :) I already knowingly work with a DZ and Sigma Kappa Alumnae and they are awesome ladies. I wonder how many others I work with unknowingly :)
|
I plan on wearing my pin even though I'm not in an NPC. I'm sure there must be people that work here that have been in sororities - a few of the guys I know have. Having my pin on will hopefully give me the guts to go up and talk to them :)
If nothing else, it will get the dust off my pin, get DO's name out, and get me to dress up for a day in my casual office :) |
I am undecided about wearing my badge since it is my 21st birthday and I of course want to go out and take advantage of that. ;)
I will probably wear it during classes and then when I dress for dinner take it off :) |
I will definitly be wearing my badge to work on this day. As far as I know I don't work with anyone who's a member of an NPC sorority, but maybe I will run into someone.
|
Well SAI isn't an NPC...but I'll support this day anyways and wear my badge. :D
|
Badge Day Question
Since I was only intiated in December and haven't yet received my badge, would it be totally wrong to wear letters (I have a t-shirt with Alpha Gamma Delta spelled out)? I don't think I'll be getting my badge until at least around IRD (I'm guessing, anyway).
|
Every day is the right day to wear your letters!
|
Since school isn't in session ever during NPC Badge Day, we're celebrating March 10 on our campus.
And I would wear it on 3/1 anyway, but we're going out of town and I'm so afraid of losing my badge! :( |
For once, I am hoping to get scheduled to work on Monday so I can wear my badge to work. I can wear a solid sweater over my apron...I will be wearing it on my sweater

I know it is NPC badge day, but maybe everyone should wear his/her badge that day and really show out! It would be so neat to see everyone's, especially the people that may have been in a chapter you did not have much exposure to before. Also, a great way to promote greek life in general and show unity.
|
I am still deciding on whether or not to wear my pin. Due to financial reasons, I had to leave State and am at a community college. Thus I am alum of my chapter. I don't know if it would be appropriate for me to wear my badge at a community college or not. I will be wearing my letters and have my pin with me, but I don't know if I will wear it... Any suggestions???

I would LOVE to wear my badge!

Wear it with pride, and if someone askes about it, tell them all about your group and NPC Badge Day. |
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't really thinking clearly. I can't wait for Monday :)

I've seen the APO pins but not in recentl years. Are they not made anymore? They used to be beautiful pins.

Spur pin
Quote:
That Spur pin attached to the Alpha Xi Delta Quill is the badge of a sophomore recognition society for women, International Spurs (or, formerly, National Spurs). I don't know if the organization is still around, or how widespread it might currently be in numbers and locations of chapters. The spur pin is pictured in the 1991 edition of Baird's, which listed 40 chapters, with the note that they were relying on old non-updated information at that time. Most of the chapters appeared to be in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states. It was founded in 1922 at Montana State. Spurs was more or less a sophomore version of Mortar Board, recognizing a combination of scholarship, activities/leadership, and service. With luck, maybe a current or former Spur on GC will see this and will be able to fill us in more. |

But it's not Greek unity day. It's NPC Day. |

We invited all the greeks on our campus to join us in wearing badges or letters. We thought it was a great chance to show Greek spirit. Wear your badge, who cares, no one can tell you when you can't.
|
I am going to try to wear my badge to class but not to work since I work around food. As far as non-NPC people wearing their badge I agree with Little E. Wear your badge and if someone does tell you something tell them where they can go or something. But I honestly doubt someone's going to come up to you and go "hey your not in an NPC GLO so you shouldn't be wearing your badge". Just my 2 cents.
|
I was not involved, but I beleive SPURS is still at my University (Univ. of Puget Sound). I know for sure they were there in 1992.

Remember any org. can pretty much petition to join the NPC. It is up to the board to decided to let them in. NPC didn't start with 26, it grew to it and hopefully will continue to grow. Yes, it's NPC day but only because the conference chose to have a special day. However, my 2 cents is that if your IFC. NPHC, Local, Prof, Academic etc, feel more then free to wear your bagde March 1st. It's promoting your org., unity for greeks, and supports the NPC in their cause. Ok, back to work! :) |

I am sticking by my viewpoint, I think it's kind of weird to want to do it. The NPC experience is vastly different from other experiences. |
Bottom line: Anyone can wear their badge pretty much anytime they want, provided they follow the guidelines of their organization.
Therefore, if you want to wear it, no one can stop you! NPC ladies *ought* to wear it! |

Badge Day is for all Sorority women
This is directly off the NPC website.
The twenty-six member organizations of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) are celebrating International Badge Day, an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their Greek affiliations by wearing their badge or letters. International Badge Day is celebrated on March 1, 2004. International Badge Day is co-sponsored by the National Panhellenic Conference and Burr, Patterson and Auld Company, Inc. Note it says "an annual event during which sorority women everywhere honor their Greek affiliations by wearing their badge or letters". It is an International Badge Day. It doesn't say NPC Badge Day or NPC women only. Remember we are all in this together! |
