2003-2004 NBA Thread
Let's do this.
One NBA thread, open for discussion on all topics, including trades. This way we can keep all our thoughts together. About the Playoffs, man, the Midwest is freaking tough. If the season ended today, the only team in the midwest that woudln't get in is the last place Jazz, and they're still ahead of the 3rd place team in the Pacific. Spurs have a HUGE game against the Tpups on sunday in Minn. They need it to prove that they can beat the big boys. Their win over Sactown a couple of weeks ago was their first of the season vs. the consensus title contenders. The addition of Latrell and Cassell may prove to be just what Garnett needed. This could be the year the East breaks through and steals a championship from the West. The Pacers look good and the idea of the Pistons' Braveheart front court scares me. Kitso KS 361 |
Cool Idea, Kitso
The Midwest is sick as it is. I know all the teams from that division will make the Playoffs. The Kings will Win The Pacific Division Unless the Lakers can get their act together ( I think Gary Payton doing a Mike Tyson on Speedy Claxton is Hilarious) As for the East, It's still wide open. Detroit, Indiana, and New Jersey will have the three top spots on Lockdown. As I have mention in the Wallace Trade Thread, the Showdown between Detroit and Indy should be fun. And What's so cool about the Eastern Conference Playoff race is that my Cavs are only 3 1/2 games out of the Eight Spot.
But Next Week, Two Big Games will be on TNT: Lakers vs. Kings Mavs vs. Spurs It's gonna a NBA Blockbuster night.:D |

as far as Big Ticket Night on TNT, lets go SActown and SA :D Kitso KS 361 |
BUMPed to honor my boys who won a BIG game in Minnesota.
Evens the series with the Tpups and makes the last 2 games between SA and Minnesota have soo much more meaning. Let's keep it going, Htown and Yao tomorrow and a couple games against the _allas Mavs in the next 10 days. GO SPURS GO!! ETA: Props for LeBron going into MSG and roughing up the Knicks. The Braveheart front court got off to a bit of an inauspicious start, losing to Orlando, but i still think they'll be tough. Reggie Miller, dirty player, need i say more? Kitso KS 361 |
Lebron Rules!!!!
|
My Spurs are gonna show the houston thugs a thing or two about playing basketball.
|
I still think the pistons will need a few more games to get the chemistry going.
Who do you all think will win the east and get swept in the finals? Indiana, Detroit, or New Jersey? |

Big game tonight for the Spurs as they take on the Mavs in _allas.
We need this one, big time. Lets go Timmy and ManUUUUU and Turkeyglue!! Kitso KS 361 |
Pacific Division battle
Of course, I think the Lakers have a fighting chance, once Karl Malone gets back, and especially because they have a rather large man, an ultracentre, :p ;) in the middle.
In terms of tonight's game, the Kings don't have C-Webb, Brad Miller and that annoying lil' pest, Bobby Jackson, so we're not talking teams at full strength. It should be a good one. |
I agree that the Lakers have a VERY strong Center...Shaq.
If the Spurs or any other western team want a win against them they would have to keep Shaq off the paint and out of his "comfort zone." They are going to have to make Shaq *work* for points even if it means fouling him.:p |

It's gonna take some time for Karl to get back into shape but when that happens, the lakers will be all right. Shaq still needs to improve his free throw shooting, but other than that, I think they can overtake the Kings. |
uggh,
not only was that game pathetic, TiMVP got injured. not a good night. Kitso KS 361 |
Very bad night
Because thre was a shot imbalance. Kobester was jacking it up too much, although I don't mind him getting it in the 4th because he can make a free throw.
I'm going to be quiet right now. Why the ultracentre got only 12 shots, is beyond me. |
Cavs won Last night 's game with Orlando in O.T.
|
Did anyone catch the game last night between the Spurs and the Nuggets? I saw most of it at my Fav Bar. looks like the Spurs are doing okay so far w/o Big Tim.
|
I saw it. Of course, as a Nuggets fan I thought it sucked. Spurs played great D. Held the Nugs to TWO offensive rebounds and handed them their biggest loss of the season.
|

But let's not kid ourselves. While the Nuggets are vastly improved from last year and enjoying a great season, they are hardly the cream of the Western Conference. We've got the Mavs coming up again soon, hopefully we can do better. Kitso KS 361 |
The Nuggets are doing well but they hit a wall and now they are in 6th place in the Midwest Division. The Lakers had a fun time blowing out the Nets Last Night. Did anyone caught Shaq's Left hand Slam highlight? simply amazing.

EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYOFF PICTURE 3/2/04
6T. New York 26-35 6t. Toronto 25-34 8t. Boston 26-36 8t. Miami 25-35 10t. Cleveland 24-36 10t. Philadelphia 24-36 It's still a tight race. |
Did anyone see the Lakers/Rockets game last night? I thought it was a good game. Yao outscores Shaq 33-28. The Rockets should have won that one.

The only thing that dismayed me was Diesel's vomitrocious free throwing. He always says he hits them in the clutch. Well, the time's coming, Daddy. Start making the throws. |

Twolves baby little bit of a rough last few games, but the Mavs game showed just what we can do to a team.
KG for MVP |
KG will win it hands down.

Watching the Spurs beat the Mavs pretty convincingly the other night w/o Tim Duncan was extremely awesome. If Hedo and Manu and TP can continue to play that well when he returns, we might be hosting another river parade in SA this July :D Kitso KS 361 |
Refs+lack of control=
Not a good night for the Lakers. Good Lawd, Diesel. Don't throw 'bows at the likes of Andrei Kirilenko. That's a good player, not some scrub like Greg Osterfat. And I don't care if the official is biased -- keep control.
And even more maddening, you know that Kobester's out and Karl is still a few games from coming back. |

Azucar Shaq vs. Kevin Garnett
Tonight, the Lakers play the Minnesota Timberwolves. I'm a Lakers fan. But I appreciate the game and symmetry of KG, and the Wolves' management did go out and get him help in terms of Latrell Spreewell and Sam Cassell. Now ol' musty Michael Olowokandi (sp?) isn't much of a presence against Diesel, but it should be a good game. Hopefully Karl Malone can contribute.
 |
I am so looking forward to the Lakers-Minnesota game. I am for Lakers to win so that we (Spurs) can catch up to Minnesota for First place in Mid-West.
...in this rare moment...Go Lakers Go!;) Still Spurs fan at heart:) |
