Your dad is in great company. How was the Grand Lodge visit? I've never been there.

Would also love too know...

How was the visit to the U.G.L.E? I would love to make that trip sometime in the near future. Also, I would love to visit Boston to see the Charter if possibile. The charter to Prince Hall. Has any Brother or SiStar done a Masonic roadtrip?

That would be something to see... :)

Lessee... not long after I was raised I visited a lodge down in Piedras Negras, Mexico (across the Rio Grande from Eagle Pass, Texas) for a Master Mason degree, conducted in the Scottish Rite ritual style (most US Masonic lodges use the York Rite ritual), going to the Shrine's convention in Vegas, among a few other things... :)

to pirate00 & AlphaSigOU

and to anybody else who asked and I never did answer:

yeah, I loved visiting the Grand Lodge... it is so incredibly swanky!!! Unless I misheard the tourguide, he said that the building was insured for 99 million British Pounds (and I guess double that number to get USD???). The gift shop was neat, too... bought lots of stuff for my Dad and my old boss (a mason from Ohio).

And, I think somebody asked something about my dad in another post/thread: My dad became a Mason in the Philippines... and Masonry has been an important part of his life and my family's life to this very day.

Sorry it took me so long to respond.

At our last stated meeting in Plano Chapter #703, Order of the Eastern Star, we had our annual elections for next year's officers. I was elected Associate Patron and my mother was elected Associate Conductress. If all goes well, the following year I become the Worthy Patron of Plano #703.

Sorry, but no PHA Mason may join another GrandLodge's blue lodge, OES, and etc. Now I say this like I know all PHA GrandLodge rules but I don't. I only know what I've read and things in Masonic land change constiantly. However, I do read up alot on rules and regualtions from other (REGULAR) GrandLodges and from what I have read PHA CAN NOT join other GRANDLODGES. We all know though visitation is in question as well.

cutiepatootie 04-22-2004 01:59 PM

I heard from a few masons the other night as well as my dad and some uncles you were able to become members or affiliate .... there was major admenment passed recently from what i heard

phamason2003 04-22-2004 02:45 PM

Whoa

Sistar, all I can say is "Whoa"! Please share the light! That would be great for the Craft! I would like to know where your father is from (GrandLodge). Please share the light.

While I will extend the fraternal handclasp of a Mason to anyone who gives the proper signs and tokens of recognition, regardless of whether they are 'mainstream' or PHA; unfortunately in Texas the 'mainstream' (read: predominantly white) grand lodge (The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas, AF & AM) does not recognize any Prince Hall grand lodges, under their rule of 'exclusive territorial jurisdiction'. Which sucks the big one...

Currently 37 out of the 51 'mainstream' grand lodges recognize Prince Hall Freemasonry in some form or other. An outstanding website with all sorts of Masonic information is at http://bessel.org/masrec/pha.htm .

The 'mainstream' Shrine recognizes the 'Egyptian' (Prince Hall) Shrine but its individual temples are subject to the governing policy of the mainstream Grand Lodge.

Most Worshipful Grandlodge of Texas, AF&AM "Mainstream"? VERY QUESTIONABLE.

My Brother,

The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Oklahoma (whew, that was long-winded, but that's the official title! :D), to which I belong as a dual and perpetual member (Will Rogers Lodge #53, Claremore, Oklahoma) at their last Grand Lodge this past November has extended recognition to the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Oklahoma. Of course, it is pending reciprocal action by the Oklahoma PHGL; from there, it's possible that intervisitation between the two Grand Lodges will follow.

As for my home jurisdiction of Texas... one of these days they'll get with the program and extend the hand of brotherly love and friendship to their Prince Hall brethren. But until most of the less-progressive brethren who still have prejudices ingrained in their minds die off, it's not going to happen right away, and that also goes for most of the predominantly white Southern Masonic grand lodges.

Map of Grand Lodges which recognize Prince Hall Masons (in blue):

http://bessel.org/masrec/phamap2.gif

Not shown: Alaska and Hawaii (both recognize Prince Hall).

The Real Deal! P.H.A here!

I bring forth greetings to ALL my fellow WORTHY PRINCE HALL (PHA) Brothers as one who has PASSED THE CHAIR and HELD MANY OFFICES as well and my PHA Sisters of OEStardom, along with the PHYLAXIS SOCIETY! I am representing the GREAT STATE of OKLAHOMA by way of the MILITARY LODGE ELEMENT compliments of OHML No. 10, Far East, Republic of Korea, not to mention being a Sublime Prince and Noble of AAEAONMS (where the BOYS are seperated from the MEN!) Elkdom (IBPOE) is too given a sincere and mighty warm welcome. Lastly, ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC. Enough said! FRATERNALISM OF BLACKNESS is so BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE IT!

Which did you become a member of first? Your stated membership is rather interesting. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is predominately African Heritage insofar as membership.

lucksh0t travels.

Bro. lucksh0t, you can perhaps imagine the energy that exhisted behind closed doors in the lodge that you made mention of. With the lodge being comprised of Alphas and Omegas I am certain lots of fun, fun, fun is surely had during special times along w/lots of running and exercise (if you know what I mean). I came through the Nobility in the 80s strictly military and had a prominent Vietnam Vet who was a highly decorated Col. His title and rank did not mean a damn thing, as he too was SMOKED (old school of course) like each and every member that embarked upon the JOURNEY OF NO RETURN by way of the DESERT! All I remember is that I woke up the next day in my barracks w/my roommate congratulating me for having entered SHRINEDOM.:D

PHA Europe.Hands Off?

Greetings Bro. lucksh0t,

PHA.Europe might have had an "hands-off" policy, but I can assure you that District 21(Oklahoma Jurisdiction) of the FAR EAST does not play that. I still have handprints on my body, and I was stationed there in the 80s. Believe you me the FAR EAST brotherhood (OESisterhood too!) definitely believes in getting busy!
