Our wedding song was "For You" by Kenny Lattimore.

Professor 12-15-2000 11:47 AM

I plan to sing Life Begins With You by DeBarge.

Miss. Mocha 12-15-2000 12:37 PM

I actually had two wedding songs, the song that I marched down the aisle to,

STILL IN LOVE, Brian McKnight

and our first dance song,

KNOCKS ME OFF MY FEET, Stevie (the most) Wonder(ful).

Miss. Mocha

speckle 12-15-2000 03:58 PM

Our song = Rachel Farrell and Will Downing's "Nothing has ever felt this good" (there wasn't a soul in the place that wasn't lip syncing the words, it is truly deep)

My bouquet toss = Natalie Cole's "This will be an everlasting love" (Folks still tell me how memorable I was dancing and teasing the eligible ladies with my bouquet)

onesavvydiva 12-15-2000 06:07 PM

Convinced....That was tooo funny.

My friend asked me that a while back and I was like all the songs that are out now will probably be golden classics by then!!!

I've been planning my wedding practically my whole life, and over the years I've come up with a lot of songs I'll probably use.

For You-Kenny Lattimore (for the candle lighting ceremony during the mass)

I'll Be-Edwin McCain (for the first dance)

and my fiance jokingly says that we'll probably use Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet because it's considered one of our "songs".

Also something else-I wanted to give wedding CDs as favors to our guests instead of the traditional thank you card. It'll be tough, but since CD burners have been so wonderful we thought it'd be nice to do. If anyone has suggestions for any other songs, let me know!

Oooh! Another Buffett fan! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif My boyfriend (of 3 years) and I have a Buffett song as 'our' song - Love and Luck. If we were to get married, we'd probably play that at the wedding, along with How Sweet it Is (to Be Loved By You). The James Taylor cover is another one of our songs, although, I'm planning on having a live band... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

AKA2D '91 12-16-2000 04:14 PM

I was starting to get confused, BUT ANYWAY... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

Let me continue... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

You and I...O'Brien
Sparkle(In your eyes)...Cameo
The First Time(Ever I Saw Your Face)....Roberta (Flack)
The Closer I Get to You (Roberta and Donnie (Hathaway)
Ribbon in the Sky (Stevie Wonder)

girl, will you STOP!!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif LOL

My wedding song was "forever mine" by the O'Jays. Our Cut the cake song was "Always" by Atlantic Starr which was "our song" in college (dating myself big time http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif) I threw my bouquet to the "hey song" they play at ball games and he got my garter to "Let's get it on" by Marvin Gaye.

I went to a ghetto fabulous wedding where the bride and groom marched in (or pimped in) to "don't wanna be a playa no more"

Me By Nature 12-16-2000 07:37 PM

My cousin and her husband danced their first dance to "Nothing has ever felt this good" by Rachelle and Will. I am only 25 years old but I stand by Stevie's Classic "Ribbon in the Sky". I will have my girls marching down the aisle to it http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

AKA2D '91 12-16-2000 08:34 PM

OH, the Song I want to use while I am presenting my mother and my future mother-n-law with their bouquet of flowers, etc. is...."Wind Beneath my Wings". It's so beautiful.

Other Songs:
Endless Love...
If This World Were Mine... (Luther and Cheryl Lynn)

PrettyPetite 12-17-2000 09:49 AM

It's funny, a friend of mine and I were just talking about wedding songs this week!!

If, and WHEN I ever get married...(I gotta find a good man first!)

I KNOW I will have some of these songs played:

"You are So Beautiful"--Babyface
"After all Is Said And Done"--Marc Nelson & Beyonce Knowles (the song they played in the wedding in the movie 'The Best Man')
"I will always be there for you"--Anquette (that's my favorite ghettofabulous love song!)
"So Amazing"--Luther Vandross

OOHLALA 12-17-2000 12:49 PM

Thank you Everyone! I am planning a wedding for myself in September 01', and this was right on time. Now I have to decide which ones I want, most of the choices are excellent. I have a question: When do you present the mothers with flowers?

OHHLALA!

Oh no girl!!! LOL!!!! Do you remember the video with them on that boat/ship? People used to request it on Video Music Box all the time. Woo! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

AKA2D '91 12-18-2000 01:46 AM

Congratulations...ohhlala

I have seen this done right AFTER the bride and groom sign the license, light the unity candle, then they go over to each parent and present them (mothers) / greet them, then after that is the DECLARATION, etc. etc.

I better stop before I give out all my ideas...LOL

OTHER SONGS:
Back at One...Brian
By Your Side...Sade
Get Here (If You Can)...Oleta Adams (for all those long distance relationships that MADE IT!)

nikki25 12-18-2000 06:07 AM

My votes:

Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon in the Sky". I love that song tremendously.

Luther Vandross' "If this World were Mine"

AKAtude 12-18-2000 09:51 AM

Soror AKA2D, you know I'm going to use some of these! My favorite wedding song is "My Love, Sweet Love" by Patti LaBelle.

So long as I wasn't alone!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have never really given this topic much thought, but "After All Is Said And Done" is definitely up there. I can't think of anymore right now, that would be must haves in my wedding. I don't think my subconscience will allow me to think about this! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Conskeeted19 12-18-2000 05:13 PM

I am feeling you Soror Akatude. My favorite is My Love Sweet Love by Patti LaBell. I think I will probably sing Together With Jesus We Can Make It. I hope my "Good Thang" can sing too. It would be nice to sing a love ballad together. If he cannot sing well, we will just have to do our duet thang later on that night. Let me stop I am about to be naughty!

I love you guys!

DANG YA'LL, I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PATTI SONG...THAT WAS ON THE WAITING TO EXHALE SOUNDTRACK!

NOW WHO IS THAT GHETTO FAB PERSON, ANQUETTE?

OTHERS:
Spend My Life (with you)...Eric Benet and Tamia

We Must Be in Love...(I forgot those girl's name, but they went to Howard and Kellie (Laura) from FAMILY MATTERS was in the video...)

Stairway to Heaven...The O'jays

AKAtude 12-19-2000 09:33 AM

I think "We Must Be In Love" is by Pure Soul? I'm not really sure.

sphinxpoet 12-19-2000 11:01 AM

"Always and Forever" by HeatWAVE! What that is the Jamy Jam! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

mojo 12-19-2000 03:29 PM

'TILL I FOUND YOU by Vicki Winans is

DA BOMB

hope01 12-19-2000 05:03 PM

The songs I would choose for my wedding provided my family would not drive me insane and straight to Elvis Prsley's "Hunk of Burnin' Love" would be "moments in love" by The Art of Noise for the walk down to the alter and for our first dance would be "Endless Love" or "My First Love" However I do not know the artists' names.

chynadall 12-19-2000 05:30 PM

I have to say mine would be..

ummm "I get around" --by Tupac I'm just joking y'all! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

I haven't really though about it but that Maxwell song "the proposal song" and you can't go wrong with "If this world was mine" by Luther.

pretty3grl 12-19-2000 08:18 PM

I am getting married March 10th 2001. I will come down the aisle to "You and I" by Obrien. We will also be serenaded with "Open Up My Heart" by Yolonda Adams. We have not settled on the other songs (I guess that I better hurry up!!!), but the songs on our "possible list" are mostly "old school." We even hired an old school band for the reception.

Conskeeted19 12-19-2000 08:31 PM

I always sing Til I Found You in weddings. It is very beautiful. I would love for my man or someone to sing Just Be My Lady. It's an oldie but a goodie. I can't remember who it is by. There's another wedding song by a husband and wife team. I think the name of the family is Nicholas. I forgot the name of the song. Let me go pull out the albums.
