Haha, kind of sad none of the above posters are posting here anymore (and AXJules is one of the 3 GC people that I've actually met in person).

My wife and I don't really do a whole lot for Valentine's Day - we may go out to dinner or something, but for us our wedding anniversary is the bigger deal.

Same here. We usually set a spending limit, too -- this year, we're each limited to $10.

We're not even going out to dinner. Instead, we're having a group from church over -- parents with young kids. 'Course, I think my wife is planning that while the kids watch a movie, the grown-ups will be playing a homemade version of "The Newlywed Game."

Happy Valentine's Day to all my favorite GC women!!!

Alpha Sweetheart Song

DaemonSeid 02-12-2009 12:09 PM

Hmmm....celebrating my day with family...

Monday was 11 years to the day that my grandmom passed...we buried her on Friday the 13th.

So Saturday, my parents and I will go to the cemetary and them my mom will be making me a special dinner and then I will be travelling to NJ and be surprised by what my people have in store for me.

Oh yeah, the lady will get something special this year!

(Must remember: It's not just all about me!)

Awww Dee that squirrel makes me smile a lot!

We're going to the casino (and avoiding ALL of his family members - no I don't want to go out with your dad and his girlfriend. No I don't want to go out with your mom and her boyfriend. No I'd really rather not deal with your brother and his one night stand.).

It should be fun, but I miss my valentine from last year. Why is Pittsburgh SO FAR from Chicago? WHY?!?!

I think my dad already made me his valentine though - I got his card first!

ETA because I have a past valentine's story:

During my senior year of college, my (then) boyfriend worked with a local flower shop doing deliveries on heavy volume days (Valentine's, Mother's Day, etc.) because he knew the owner. He was gone ALL DAY on Valentine's Day. The sororities also had their composite pictures taken on Valentine's Day that year. So I went to get my picture taken, and the photographer was WAY OUT OF LINE. Pulling the drape down to show cleavage? Seriously? Also, they had been told VERY clearly NOT to touch the sorority women. Because they're creepy. They still did. After reporting what happened to the Greek Advisor (she went right over there and ripped them a new asshole), I called my (then) boyfriend. He felt so bad that he couldn't really see me on Valentine's Day, so he felt even worse that I had been fondled on Valentine's Day, too. When he was done with his deliveries, he stopped back at the shop and told the story to the owner. The owner helped him pick out about 2 dozen red and buff roses to give to me. The card read "Sorry you got fondled by anyone but me."

There was a reason why I was with that kid for over 2 years. :p

Awww man...so what happened to him?

agzg 02-12-2009 12:45 PM

The photographer or the boyfriend?

I think all the chapters changed once they got out of their contracts with that composite service. So my guess is that that guy is no longer touching girls at Gannon.

The boyfriend is still a friend. We broke up during my first year of grad school because despite the fact that Pittsburgh is only about two hours from Erie both of us were so busy that we couldn't pull off the long distance relationship. He was a year behind me in school. Plus, there was only one person I wasn't comfortable with him hanging out with (because she constantly texted him asking him to break up with me and go out with her) and he was hanging out with her while I was in Pittsburgh. I didn't feel like fighting for an LDR that clearly wasn't working, so we broke up.

He's living with that girl now, they and their roommate have three dogs and a cat. They're probably going to get married, and unfortunately I don't think she would be comfortable with me going to their wedding. Most of our mutual friends hate her, not because of me but because of her behavior since they've been together. So that's going to be a small wedding!

I'm pretty sure many of us are hoping he comes to his senses. Why is it more important for her to finish college than it is for him? And why is it appropriate to only let your boyfriend see his friends every couple of weeks, while it's OK for you to go and hang out with your ex all the time?

Oh well. I can only be good for one man at a time.

Oh PS the Valentine from last year is my best girlfriend. Obviously having a male non-family member valentine would not be OK with live-in (even though he wasn't live-in at the time).

I went to a casino with my boyfriend last year, and we had a lot of fun. I did end up getting us carded though

Since my boy and I are long distance, I'm going out with a group of sisters to dinner and then out to a movie on Friday. We're sponsoring an on campus movie Saturday night, so most of us will be at that event.

My Valentine's Day is going to consist of me working, then buying myself some Godiva chocolate and watch Lifetime's Lover's Lane movie themed weekend. My boyfriend sent me a card in the mail yesterday so I think that's the only highlight.

KSUViolet06 02-12-2009 01:43 PM

I'm going to the EP release show for one of the bands at my church with one of my sorority sisters, then probably going to just relax and do some school work.

Aww I love hearing all the sweetheart songs!

My boyfriend and I are going to stay in and cook dinner together. We're too broke to go out to dinner lol

As for stories, I got dumped on Valentine's Day once. But then again it wasn't really "getting dumped" because it was just a silly little 8th grade relationship that wasn't really anything like dating. He did it through AIM too, lol...oh junior high...

I got dumped on AIM once - when I was a senior in high school.

I proceeded to date the same guy while in college - what an idiot! The second time he broke up with me was because he said "You make me feel like I'm letting God down."

WHAT?!

I hope you and your BF have a nice night. :)

I just recently learned (from commercials, duh) that if I purchase a moderate-to-large diamond for my significant other who may or may not exist, she will be more likely to touch me where I pee. Thanks, DeBeers - I'm on my way to the mall already. He went to Jared, indeed!

If you don't buy her a diamond ring, she can't win at life. Duh.

The size of the diamond is directly proportional to the size of her ass. The bigger the butt, the bigger the ring.

Remember that huge pink diamond ring that J Lo was sporting when she was engaged to Ben Affleck?

LMAO at this! My Valentines' day is going to be spent hanging out with a variety of friends - including a very cute architect who recently has caught my eye, and we're going to hit all the hot spots and have one hell of a good time.

Also, ex-boyfriend is marrying his beloved Hagzilla on Saturday in America's Armpit. Awwwwwwww, isn't that sweet? And he's more concerned about me NOT attending the wedding than trying to find his unemployed ass a job so he can support said Hagzilla and her two boys, Walker and Texas Ranger...

(My friends and I are already placing wagers on when she's going to get a divorce lawyer. My bet is at the 8 month mark - and that's only because I'm feeling generous these days.)

I'm currently in the process of getting fatter so that live-in basically HAS TO buy me a big-assed diamond ring so I can win at life.

Dan and I were going to go for a hike and have a picnic, but it's raining for like 2 weeks straight. We haven't really discussed a plan B yet. We're both pretty broke so...I really don't know.

I'm knitting him a hat! I really need to work on it today so I can finish it on time.
