How about this: does anyone remember having a bang in the front that curved to the side, and people either : put those wave clips in it, or a lot of hair spray it so that the curve wouldn't move?

I don't know if I'm explaining it right, so someone let me know if they understand what I'm explaining...

I 'wan play, too!

U No U an 80s child if....

1. You thought Press Your Luck was the BEST game show on TV ("Big Bucks, No Whammies!!")

2. Your family was too poor to own a VCR, so you used a regular tape recorder and held it to the TV and told everyone else in the room "Shut up, I'm taping". Plus you had to pay real close attention to the video portion so on playback you could memorize and improvise what was going on to choreograph the sounds and dialogue. *DL Hughley mode* Don't act like I'm the only one who has ever done this. I used to tape the Three Stooges every afternoon on TBS after school via this method--and still have those tapes--with me in the background ROTFLMNBAO and reading the credits to boot.

3. You remember the premiere ep of Yo! MTV Raps (aired Aug. 6, 1988 hosted by Run DMC) and all the videos that was played:

Eric B. & Rakim: Follow the Leader
Doug E. Fresh: Keep Risin' To the Top
Run DMC: Mary Mary
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince: Parents Just Don't Understand
J.J. Fad: Supersonic
Fat Boys featuring Chubby Checker: The Twist
Beastie Boys: Hold it Now....Hit It.
L.L Cool J: Goin' Back to Cali
Boogie Down Productions: My Philosophy

4. You remember Rap City when it was hosted by "Mayor" Chris Thomas and had the graffiti-like logo.

5. You wore gazelles or just non-prescription eyeglasses cause it made you look cool.

6. You thought Troop! gear (jeans, jackets, etc.) was the bomb until you found out Troop was owned by the KKK.

More stuff later
RM

mccoyred 02-02-2001 02:34 PM

I got carded while dining with a group of co-workers at a restaurant last summer. I had just turned 32 so I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The kicker is that there was a sister in her mid 20's in the group and SHE wasn't carded!

In a nutshell you tape movies and shows with a regular tape recorder located near the TV instead of having a regular VCR. So you have great sound, but no video. An ACR (audio cassette recorder) if you will.

WHEN....

You used to wear an outfit, and the colors were red, white & black. You'd wear a pair of red, white, and black socks to match, and you'd alternate the colors!!

The spandex fits were the sh*t-the biker shorts that were flourescent with the matching top!

"Basket Weave" was a braid style where you were braided in singles all around the head, but at the bangs-they braided them in a pattern, and it resembled a basket.

You remember the old Tina fron "One Life to Live"-the Tina with the looong blond hair and the bags under her eyes

If you remember this: Bobby Brown used to wear the spandex jumpsuit with the high-tops (the FIRST Jordans) and the leather bolero jacket http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif (the video GIRL NEXT DOOR-if you still have it on tape like I do, you can watch it and check out his outfit-LMAO)

You remember these cartoons:
My Little Pony
Popples
Street Frogs (the hip-hop frogs)
FUNtastic Voyage/Treasure Hunt

Ya'll brought it back with this topic!! Kepp it up!

My Friday is turning out to be a lovely one...

I got a few!

Ladies, remember the bomb hairstyle was wearing your hair long on one side, but real short on the other? You had it flipped, feathered and you hair was like "butter." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/cool.gif

Wearing headbands, you know the cotton stretchy ones.

Playing "Off the Wall." Either you or somebody threw the ball against the side of a building and you had like ten other kids in the back of you tryna catch it?
