Singer Natalie Cole Files for Divorce
Tue Feb 3,10:08 PM ET

LOS ANGELES - Grammy award-winning singer Natalie Cole (news) has filed for divorce from Kenneth Dupree, her husband of just over two years.

Cole, 53, cited irreconcilable differences in papers filed Jan. 30 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

She married Dupree, of Brentwood, Tenn., in October 2001. It was her third marriage.

Cole's attorney, Daniel Jaffe, referred questions to Cole's publicist. Publicist Jennifer Allen said she could not provide further details because she had not been able to reach Cole.

Cole recorded the album "Unforgettable, With Love," which digitally combined her voice with that of her late father, jazz great Nat King Cole (news). The album sold 14 million copies and won a Grammy for record of the year in 1991.

You have gots to be kidding. Natalie is getting divorced already. I think she just needs to give up on being married.

I heard this morning on the radio that Irma P. Hall was in a really bad car accident, and she had a heart attack while having the car accident. If you are wondering who I am talking about, she is the woman that played the momma on Soul Food. I heard that she is not doing well at all.

I read about this last week. She has a new movie coming out with Tom Hanks and Marlon Wayans, The Ladykillers.

Um, I read the article about Kid Rock and the VFW. Is this "Let's Get Mad at the Superbowl" Week? It seems like everyone is upset. The FCC is mad at CBS and MTV. CBS is mad at MTV. The NFL is mad with everybody. Now the VFW is mad. Can we all just give it a rest??

How about now Justin is mad at Janet? He says he was bamboozled. LOL!

Singer, husband to take drug rehab course

Singer, husband to take drug rehab course

Singer Faith Evans and her husband, music producer Todd Russaw, agreed to enter a pre-trial intervention program for drug abuse Wednesday at a hearing in Fulton County Magistrate Court. The agreement essentially closes the case if the two complete the program and are not arrested again on similar charges.

Erik Friedly, spokesman for Fulton District Attorney Paul Howard, said Evans and Russaw, arrested last month in Hapeville on simple drug possession charges, agreed to complete a 13-week drug rehabilitation program in return for the charges being placed on an administrative "dead docket."

Hapeville police pulled over the couple Jan. 27 on a traffic stop; Evans was at the wheel of a silver 2003 Hummer H2 bearing a temporary tag without an expiration date. Police found a small amount of cocaine and marijuana in the car, according to Hapeville police Capt. William Lyons.

"The drug charges will be resurrected, and we would proceed with prosecution if they do not complete the program," Friedly said.

Evans, who moved to the Atlanta area recently, earned a Grammy nomination for her duet "Can't Believe," and recently appeared in the movie "The Fighting Temptations" with Cuba Gooding Jr.

Janet's Breast affects Thursday's ER Ep

NBC Excises 'ER' Breast Scene
Thu Feb 5, 2:26 AM ET Add Entertainment - Reuters to My Yahoo!

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Days after Janet Jackson (news) shocked the nation by baring her breast during the Super Bowl, NBC has agreed to edit out a brief shot of an 80-year-old woman's breast from Thursday night's episode of medical drama "ER" -- to the chagrin of the show's executive producer.

In the scene, the breast is visible for less than two seconds in the background of a scene where doctors are giving the woman emergency care. The network's decision to adjust the scene to obscure the bare breast drew a strong rebuke from "ER" executive producer John Wells, who said it sent a bad message.

NBC's decision was finalized late Tuesday, two days after the Super Bowl halftime stunner in which Jackson bared her breast during a performance with Justin Timberlake (news). The incident has spurred a national debate about indecency on television and triggered an investigation by the FCC (news - web sites).

"In consultation with our affiliate board we have asked 'ER' to remove a shot of an exposed breast of an 80-year-old woman receiving emergency care," NBC said. "Though we continue to believe the shot is appropriate and in context, and would have aired after 10:30 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time, we have unfortunately concluded that the atmosphere created by this week's events has made it too difficult for many of our affiliates to air this shot."

While the final decision on the "ER" shot came a few days after the Jackson incident, Roger Ogden, general manager of NBC affiliate KUSA-TV in Denver and chairman of the NBC affiliate board, said that affiliates had been concerned about the propriety of the scene for several weeks. NBC executives first showed the scene in question to the affiliate board during a meeting at NATPE in Las Vegas last month.

"In looking at it myself, it wasn't something that ... felt totally out of context. It was very brief and it wasn't something that would've shocked you if you're watching the show as a normal person," Ogden said.

Nevertheless, after a number of affiliates raised serious concerns, Ogden said the affiliate board notified NBC early this week that "we thought it wasn't in the best interest of the network or the affiliates to include the shot," Ogden said.

"ER" executive producer Wells said his objection to editing the breast out of the shot came out of concern about artistic freedom rather than the specifics of that particular scene.

"It's really not about this," Wells said. "We could've easily cut the small piece of the breast and it does no damage to the show whatsoever. But the chilling effect of having this one incident now affect programming content across all the networks, that's what I'm concerned about."

Wells added that he felt a certain obligation as the steward of a hit network show to take a stand on the matter.

"It makes you ask those questions about other things that might be perceived to be controversial," Wells said. "Should you talk about sexually transmitted disease among teenagers? Should you be dealing with certain types of violence and the effects of that violence? And while on a show like 'ER,' where we have the success to not bow to too much of that pressure, (for) pilots and newer shows that don't feel as confident in their future, it will be very difficult for them to stand up to questions from the studio or their network about them."

This is why when I have children, I am switching to Sky Angel satelite.

See, this why now is the time for those of us who are tired of TV fiflth to do something more.

The momentum is there thanks to Janet, so why not gather this energy and force the FCC to span that focus to include everybody?

Jay-Z Says He Plans To Marry Beyonce
Thu Feb 5,10:00 AM ET

LAUNCH Radio Networks

Rapper Jay-Z and singer Beyonce Knowles (news) have been dating for almost two years, but the duo has been meticulous about keeping their relationship private. That is, until last week when Jay-Z announced that he plans to marry Knowles.

While attending a party in New York on Wednesday, January 28 for Lyor Cohen, who recently left his post at Island Def Jam to head up Warner Music Group, Jay-Z took the microphone to congratulate his friend and said, "You've been one of the best friends I could have had ... Apart from this woman beside me (Beyonce), who I love and who I will marry very soon."

A source who was present at the event told the San Francisco Chronicle, "It was really unexpected. As soon as he said it everyone in the place starting whooping and cheering. Beyonce was standing next to him cooing and looking totally in love. It was a beautiful moment. If ever there were any doubts about how much they love each other, then this certainly blew those away."

No official announcement of an engagement has been made by either camp and calls to Jay-Z's label, Roc-A-Fella Records were not returned at press time.

BATON ROUGE - Rapper Master P pleaded guilty in federal court to failing to file a corporate income tax return seven years ago.

Federal prosecutors accused Bout It Incorporated, the company the rapper founded in 1996, of neglecting to report its first-year earnings to the Internal Revenue Service (news - web sites). Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, also founded the hip-hop label, No Limit Records.

Miller entered his plea Thursday, and no sentencing date was set.

The crime carries a maximum sentence of five years probation, a $200,000 fine or twice the financial gain or loss, and the cost of prosecution.

I never thought that the two of them would get married, at least not this soon. Jay-Z has retired and has said that he is ready for a family while Beyonce's career is really just taking off. I didn't think that she would be looking to slow down any time soon. It would be really hard to have kids and a family with the schedule that she keeps. They are a nice couple, but since they are in different places in their careers, I didn't think marriage was in their near future.

lovelyivy84 02-06-2004 03:23 PM

But she as an r&b singer can be married and have a family. He as a thug rapper could neeeeva do that. If people think Jay isn't hungry anymore, or doing the "Big Pimpin" thing then it is bad for his image. He had to retire if he wanted to get married. Especially to Beyonce. A wifey like Ja Rule's who isn't famous, might not care if her dude sings about messing with other chicks, but someone like BEYONCE??? If her man is singing about other chicks???? That will not work!

I think they're a cute couple.

Tyra Banks Teased for 'Five-Head'

NEW YORK - Tyra Banks (news) was accustomed to people staring at her long before she became a supermodel.

The 30-year-old said people used to tease her about her forehead, saying it was so big it could be a "five-head."

"I used to try to wear bangs and cover it up," she told reporters in Los Angeles recently, according to AP Radio. "When I walked into a modeling agency, that was the first thing they said was special about me."

Banks hosts and produces the second season of "America's Next Top Model" on UPN, a reality show in which 12 women compete for a deal with IMG Models.

She said what makes a person beautiful is "something that is not so typical."

Former model Janice Dickinson, who said she was the first to coin the term "supermodel," is among the judges. She said one unique thing distinguishes a "supermodel" from a "model."

"It could be the attitude, it could be the nose, it was Lauren Hutton (news)'s gap. It's just that one thing that differentiates a model in making her a super model," Dickinson said.

The other judges are Eric Nicholson, an editor at Jane magazine, and fashion photographer Nigel Barker. Makeup artist Jay Manuel is a guest judge.

The show airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST

I've heard her called "light bulb head" but a 5 head?

Foxx to Host ESPY Awards

LOS ANGELES - Jamie Foxx (news) will return for the second consecutive year as host of the ESPY Awards, given to top athletes.

"I'm excited. We're going to make lightning strike twice," he said. "I had a great time last year and we're gonna take it up a notch."

This year's show will be taped July 14 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. It's scheduled to air July 18 on ESPN.

The 36-year-old comedian, who co-starred in the Oliver Stone (news) football film "Any Given Sunday," is an avid sports fan. During last year's ESPYs, he saluted tennis player Serena Williams (news - web sites) with a musical tribute titled "Can I Be Your Tennis Ball?"

Foxx appears in the upcoming movies "Redemption," airing April 11 on the FX cable channel; "Collateral" with Tom Cruise (news); and "Breakin' All the Rules" with Gabrielle Union (news).

Conskeeted7 02-06-2004 03:45 PM

I agree 100%. I think they can get married and it wouldn't negatively affect her career, but his would have to change completelyl. Even if they got married, I don't think they'd have kids right away. That would put her out of the picture for a while.

And 2 years is not a short amount of time to date and then consider marriage. I hope it works for them.

Jermaine Dupri Resigns As President Of Atlanta

Jermaine Dupri Resigns As President Of Atlanta
Grammy Chapter
By Nolan Strong
Date: 2/6/2004 6:00 PM

So So Def founder and Janet Jackson's love interest Jermaine Dupri, has resigned as president of the Grammy's Atlanta chapter, due to Jackson being banned from the Grammy Awards.
Jackson was to present a special award to Luther Vandross, but was allegedly rebuked, after it was determined Vandross could not attend due to his medical condition, after suffering a stroke.

"I didn't want to be a part of something that's not treating people in the right light," Dupri said in a statement. "I feel like what's going on with Janet is unfair."

Justin Timberlake, who performed with Jackson during the now infamous Superbowl Halftime Show, tore off the clothing that exposed Jackson's right breast for less than a second.

He is still scheduled to perform.

Timberlake insists that he had no prior knowledge that Jackson's bare breast would be exposed and claimed he thought that a bustier would still be underneath.

Timberlake added that he "didn't need the negative publicity" that was accompanied the incident.

Jackson has apologized in written and verbal statements, saying that the Superbowl incident simply went too far.

Meanwhile, a Tennessee woman is attempting to cash in on the debacle.

The woman filed a lawsuit in Knoxville's federal court, alleging that Jackson and Timberlake owe millions of people monetary compensation for the stunt.

The picture of Jackson's breast has become the most sought after item in the history of the Internet.

Search for the pictures topped over 200 million according to Lycos.com, topping the September 11 attacks on the United States

411 for the week of February 2nd, 2004

Actress Robin Givens is still an emotional wreck after being in a car accident that almost killed a 90-year-old woman. Robin was in Miami with her children when she accidentally hit the woman. Robin was driving her SUV at the time. The accident was terrible. The woman's right foot nearly came off! Police have ruled it as an accident, but sources say the woman's family could file a lawsuit against the actress. The woman remains in critical by stable condition.

Veteran actress Irma P. Hall (she played the mother of the girls in the movie Soul Food) was injured in a car accident last week. The 68-year-old actress was in Chicago at the time of the head on collision. She is in serious condition. She has a new movie with Tom Hanks coming out next month called Ladykillers.

Does singer Faith Evans have a drug problem? Last week the singer was arrested with her husband on drug possession charges. They were also cited for driving with improper vehicle tags. The two spent the night in Atlanta at the Fulton County Jail. They are currently out on bail. Faith and her husband were found with marijuana and cocaine. When Faith was married to rapper Biggie Smalls she talked about getting high on marijuana. She recently signed with a new record label and she is supposed to release a new album this year. If Faith has a drug problem will she seek help? This arrest was probably a wakeup call.

How hot is Beyonce? She is hot, hot, hotter!!!!! Beyonce has signed on to be the new spokeperson for Tommy Hilfiger's new fragrance it will launch in the fall. She will be performing halftime during this years NBA All-Star game February 15th, on TNT. Rapper Jay-Z announced that he will be marrying her later this year. She is also going on tour with Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott. They will be at the Wachovia Center on March 23rd. Beyonce will also be featured on the June issue of Essence Magazine with Janet Jackson and Mary J. Blige. This photo shoot almost didn't happen when Beyonce was told she couldn't pose in the middle. Beyonce was upset. She wanted this position, but it was already promised to Janet. Mikki Taylor who is the beauty and cover editor of Essence says there was no brouhaha. She says the photo will showcase the singers in a way they've never been shown before. But the big question remains who will be in the middle? I guess we will have to wait until June to find out.

What's going on American Idol judge Paula Abdul? She has been very different this season. Paula is usually the nice one but it appears Simon Cowell's nastiness is rubbing off on her. Paula has been known to lash out and during one show she walked off the set after a fight with fellow judge Randy Jackson. Friends say Paula is upset about her love life. She was dating a multi-millionaire and she was hoping he would marry her, but the romance ended and she is miserable. Paula has not had much luck with love and she was hoping he would be the one. Paula has been divorced twice and she has no children. During a recent appearance on the Ali and Jack Show to promote American Idol, Paula was out of it. She was slurring her words and at one point she fell asleep. The producers had to do a lot of editing before it hit the air. Spokespeople for Paula claim she had the flu but it appeared the popular singer was having a meltdown right before our eyes. Will she be able to carry on for the rest of the season? American Idol has revived her career. Producers for the show want to bring on celebrity judges like they did last year and they are already in talks with Elton John, Barry Manilow and Paul McCartney.

Singer Heather Hedley says she will be re-teaming with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for her next album. The former Broadway star is gearing up for a busy awards season. She is up for a couple of NAACP Image Awards and she is nominated for a Grammy Award.

Chris Rock is returning to HBO. Chris's "Black Ambition" tour will be shown on HBO in April.

Ron Isley of the Isley Brothers is coming out with the Mr. Biggs Fur Collection. The fur line will be available at Macy's , Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue. The collection will feature jackets and coats in mink, sable, chinchilla, and fox. Ron will also have a women's fur line that will feature fur bikinis and lingerie.

Mario Van Peebles Plays Famous Father

BERLIN - More than 30 years after his father made a revolutionary black-power film, director Mario van Peebles also wanted to have an ethnically diverse crew on the set — but he didn't have to go to the lengths his father did.

Van Peebles, at the annual Berlin Film Festival to promote "Gettin' the Man's Foot Outta Your Baadasssss," said it was sometimes "bizarre" to play his father, Melvin, in the raucous account of how his dad made the 1971 "Sweet Sweetback's Baad Asssss Song."

"It was exciting, because we wound up making it in the spirit of the original," said the younger Van Peebles, who co-wrote, directed and stars in the film. That included having a diverse crew.

But the older Van Peebles gave a glimpse of the difficulties in making the original.

"The unions in Hollywood were all white and I wanted to use a crew of 50 percent minorities," said Melvin Van Peebles, 71. "But the unions would not allow me to do that."

His trick: He told them he was making a porn movie.

George Foreman Eyes Return to Ring at Age 55

DALLAS (Reuters) - Former heavyweight champion George Foreman is planning a return to the ring, saying that he wants to show he can still fight at the age of 55.

Foreman said on Tuesday in a telephone interview he has been planning a return to boxing for about a year.

The former heavyweight champ became a champion for the middle-aged when he became the oldest man to claim the heavyweight belt at the age of 45. Foreman has not fought in about seven years.

"I have been working out. My goal is to get down to 225 pounds (102 kg)," Foreman said.

Foreman said he began training on his 55th birthday on Jan. 10, 2004, and said he may have to cut out on his desserts in order to drop another 50 pounds (22.7 kg).

"It is a time for everybody to stop being afraid of being 50 or 60. It's about time that people stopped being afraid of it,' Foreman said.

He said that a lot of people he knows who are about the same age wait anxiously for the results of their yearly health examinations and do not see that they can be physically active and competitive.

"People have to understand that it can be done," Foreman said.

Foreman did not say if an opponent or a venue had been lined up, but when asked about where a bout may be fought, he replied that he has had a good time in London.

Foreman reclaimed the heavyweight crown when he knocked out Michael Moorer in 1994. He retired after losing a decision against Shannon Briggs in 1997.

Foreman has a record of 76 and 5, with 68 wins by knockout.

Foreman is known these days for his work as a boxing analyst for cable TV's HBO and for his work as a salesman for a popular line of barbecue grills bearing his name.

Foreman has recently been on TV in Texas to pitch his own line of clothes for big and tall men that is being sold at Casual Male Big & Tall stores. The Foreman line includes pants with expandable waistbands and shirt collars, as well as high tech fabrics that allow wearers to easily dissipate sweat.

The fashion collection will be taken nationwide as Foreman joins a list of celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez with their own brand of clothes.

"Mothers are going to love me because I am going to have affordable clothes for their big old 17-year-olds," he said.

This really disturbs me. Seems like ministers no longer consider marriage vows sacred. What happened to 'until death do us part' or 'let no man put usunder'?!?!

That means that it has been copied from a Yahoo news site and if you go to the actual article on yahoo, you will see that things like that are actually hyperlinks to previous articles about said topic.
