Oddest Baby Name Ever--Or New Trend?

Oddest Baby Name Ever--Or New Trend?

The baby's name is Jon Blake Cusack 2.0. Not Junior. Not the II. It's Version 2.0. Parents Jon Blake Cusack and his wife, Jamie, wanted to name their son something different. They did just that. Daddy, a self-described "engineering geek," talked his wife into the unusual name that mimics the naming process for new versions of software, reports The Associated Press.

"I wanted to find something different to name him besides Jon Blake," Cusack, who is self-employed with Westshore Design and Cusack Music, told The Holland Sentinel. Version 2.0 was born on January 27 in Holland, Michigan. Baby and mother are doing just fine.

Daddy Cusack admitted that talking his wife into the name took several months, and Mommy Cusack didn't concede until a week before Baby Cusack was born. She told The Sentinel that since she had picked out the theme of the baby's room and done other things, "I decided to let Jon have this." Naturally, the birth announcement to friends and family was sent electronically.

Okay, wow, that kid is going to get the crap kicked out of him when he goes to school.

I want to see a picture.

When I first read this, I thought that it was about John Cusack, the actor.

dzrose93 02-02-2004 12:20 PM

Poor kid. His parents ought to be charged with child abuse -- he's certainly going to receive a ton of it from his peers in the years to come thanks to that brilliant name.

rainbowbrightCS 02-02-2004 01:20 PM

How will he write his name, all the little bubble in say II or III not 2.0 those parents are messing with his head and should be shot.

mullet81 02-02-2004 01:24 PM

strange as it may seem... i could totally see other people following this trend...

Taualumna 02-02-2004 02:01 PM

This is very, very sad. Poor kid. Anyway, if the Cusacks have another boy, would he be Jon Blake Cusack 2.1? Let's hope not.

ADPiAkron 02-02-2004 02:11 PM

I like it! haha Very unique!! At least he will not have the same name as anyone, anywhere!!

Rudey 02-02-2004 02:13 PM

My boy's name is going to have a Sir in front of it. Then he can brag all he wants about being knighted and come up with a bs story for it.

Like Michael Jackson's kids? Prince Prince Michael II, etc, etc...

Maybe this kid will have a weird nickname...like blanket...only Jon Cusak 2.0 can be called pillow, or something just as insane.

Yes he will. That shows how self-absorbed the parents are. They named the kid without consideration to the level of abuse that he will receive.

DWAlphaGam 02-02-2004 03:22 PM

Ok, so they wanted to be unique, but they still named the kid after his father, so it's not actually unique. These people are friggin' stupid.

Michael Jackson's sons are both Named Prince Michael (numbers II and III...Michael Jackson is obviously Prince Michael the I), his daughter's name is Paris. However, Michael's youngest song (the one he dangled over the balcony) has the nickname Blanket. I believe he explained why in his interview with that British guy, but who can understand him when his voice is in an octive only dogs can hear.

because "a blanket is a blessing." (I don't get it either)

And the sons are Prince Michael I & II (Blanket is II). If Mike changed his name I don't think he would be content with Prince - it would probably be "Emporer" or "God."

CatStarESP4 02-03-2004 06:31 AM

I feel sorry for that kid. I can imagine the nicknames he will get at school. WTF were his parents thinking!!!???

I suppose 2.0's the latest version of trend names.

At my old job I'd come across weird and interesting names of different students. The best one was Empress T. Aquarian. Obviously the T stood for "the". And really, it was her name. Her parents were former hippies. I also came across a "Sterling Silva" and "Crayola Jones". I wonder if her parents got sued for using the Crayola name?? One of my friends from HS married someone who last name was "Ryder". I don't know what the hell she was thinking naming their daughter "Wave".

DWAlphaGam 02-03-2004 10:07 AM

By the way, Michael Jackson's daughter's full name is Paris Michael Jackson. He had to have his daughter be an homage to himself too.

College basketball player for Memphis State....
Baskerville Holmes

A player on the Cleveland Browns was named after Earth Wind and Fire. His name is Earthwind.

College football player.... Tae Kwon Salem or something like that.

A girl on the last Survivor was named Tia Juana.

My roommate and his family just made up names. In fact, he and his brothers chose the name for his sister because it sounded cool. No phoenetic rules apply to their names and none have meaning evidently.

And before you think they're weird hippies, these wasps attended the same prestigious schools for generations and the family has controlling interests in quite a few companies globally.
