Synopsis:
Even the onboard navigation system has a meltdown on Nate Johnson (Cedric The Entertainer) and his family's cross-country trek to their annual family reunion/grudge match. Reluctantly along for the ride are Nate's wife (Vanessa Williams), who's only in it for the kids; their rapper-wannabe son (Bow Wow); their teenage daughter (Solange Knowles) who's fashioned herself as the next Lolita; and their youngest (Gabby Soleil), whose imaginary dog Nate just can't seem to keep track of. Can the Johnsons survive each other and all the obstacles the road throws at them to make it to Caruthersville, Missouri? Can they find Missouri?

Yup, I have not bought a soundtrack in years but this might be one I can pick up.

Is it just me who can no how, no way see Vanessa Williams married to CEDRIC??

This must be her way of getting back out there in the limelight and not in Radio Shack commercials with Ving Rhames.

They were all on the Image Awards last night. Cedric and Vanessa did look funny together !.
I can't wait to see the movie!

I think we are about due for a good comedy. I really wish the would have put Anthony Anderson in this.....

A few thoughts...

Why does everyone have on the same kind of shirt? I understand it's stylish, but it just looks a little overdone.

Why is Ceddy's wife half naked and he has on a suit? I'm really big on couples dressing to each other, so if she was going to be that casual, he should've just worn jeans and a blazer.

Rick Fox kinda looks like Hellboy, without the red skin. Their daughter has really grown up. It seems like she was just a baby like a year ago...time goes fast!

It looks like she is pregnant.

and i LOVE Malinda's hair...

Ced's wife is prego and either she has the gestation period of an elephant or she has been prego for a very long time.

Conskeeted----take a closer look. He IS wearing jeans and a blazer. Ced & his son look adorable! And his wife looks....ummmmm, I like her hair. :o :p

GREAT MOVIE JUST SAW IT LAST NIGHT, A MUST GO SEE....

On Jay Leno last night, he said he has a 4 month (maybe he said weeks) old daughter.

Just came from seeing it, I was not expecting part of the plot. Good family movie but as little time as they spent AT THE REUNION, it should have just been called Johnson Family Road Trip.

Funniest parts:

Uncle Earl and the car
the prayers :o :p

Just came from seeing it... you are right on about the prayers(at the reunion and with the hitchhiker)(that was probably the funniest part of the movie).. Saw it matinee so I'm not too upset.. definitely a rental;)

The bathroom scene at Fun World was hilarious as well.
Oh as well as the hot tub scene.

What did you all think of the Vanessa/Ced chemistry?


Someone else pointed this out to me, but what do you think of this being the Black National Lampoon's Vacation.

I didn't like the chemistry btw Ced and Vanessa..surprisingly I did like her in the movie though. It was like a Black National Lampoon vacation.. I did like the navigator!!!!

Glad to know Shari Headley is still working(although no speaking role):D :D :D

NOW what killed me is that I saw a preview where Vanessa and Shari stood off to the side commenting on their husbands being childish but that was no where in the movie.

Oh and WTF was Steve and his family's talent for the talent show?
Oh and you mean to tell me that those mofos wore the same outfit that whole weekend? That no one tried to go back and pick up not one suitcase? No one thought to go to the store and get CLEAN DRAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????? :mad: :confused: :eek: :eek: :o

What was even more strange is that they changed for the talent show and then put back on the same clothes to go home for "another" three days..so in essence they wore the same clothes for a week.

LOL at Steve and his family..choreographed dance(Rhythm Nation no less) was their "family" talent.

Oh.. I did like Solange and Bow-Wow too..their chemistry was better than Ced and Nessa

Their version of Rhythm Nation was wack.

Here's a better question? Where did they get all of those clothes in like 10 minutes? I know I know, STFU but seriously. Who let yall borrow WHOLE outfits?!?! Who had a leather jacket at a park in Missouri in the summer?

Imma go now. I did like the movie and would buy it on DVD from Half.com but WTF at some of the inconsistencies.

HAHA ROFL at all the comments about the movie...

1. Agree: The prayers were the funniest part of the movie

2. AGREE: I did not think that Ced and Vanessa fit at all, and you noticed that aint nan one of dem kids looked or even resembled Ced

3. AGREE: The Movie definitely should have been called Johnson's Family Road Trip

4. And "Braxton" (I call him that because when I see him I can only think of his role on the Jamie Foxx Show) Is he going to be a lame in every role he plays? And how did that truck meet them up on the road if Ced supposedly took a short cut, how would Braxton know that?

OK thats enough for now but I agree with all the comments. I still enjoyed the movie it made me laugh and that was about it.:D :D

From everything that I've read about the movie, it does seem like a rental but since it's spring break this week, I'll take my son and my two nephews to the 12:00 matinee sometime this week.

i enjoyed it as well. There was no spark btwn Ced and Ness, as someone said. lol The kids were funny. Bow Wow did well too.

But :eek: at the pet alligator; and the "blessing" of the food. lol

You and RBL are killing me calling that woman "Ness" and "Nessa" .. . . whenever I hear "NESSA" I think of Dabnis Brickey calling Tempestt Bledsoe, NESSA in that country drawl of his.

yall got me confused now. :( I was definitely headed to see it, on the strength of V. Williams alone, but now I'm wondering if a Blockbuster night might be the better way to go....

question:

Just how PG-13 is it?

My daughter has seen some PG-13 movies before that weren't too bad, but I got burned at Love Don't cost a thing because it was quite PG-13 in certain parts of the movie. JFV seems like a really funny movie and I would like for us to go see it.

There is a scene that implies that CED is naked; caught without his boxers but other than that, the movie was PG to me. Oh there is the very brief drug thing that I almost missed since I am not schooled on drug paraphernalia. I don't think I am missing anything else but RBL or O2BAME will help me out.

There was this one scene that looked like Ced was having an erection, but it turned out to be the alligator...i dont know if that would count as "inappropiate" or not.
